Lady Gaga leads nominations for this year's MTV Video Music Awards
Among the other top contenders are Bruno Mars, who has 11 nods, rapper Kendrick Lamar with 10, Espresso singer Sabrina Carpenter with eight, and US pop star Ariana Grande with seven.

The track Die With A Smile, a collaboration between Lady Gaga and Mars, is nominated for song of the year, with the musicians also up for best collaboration, best pop, and video of the year.
Treasure singer Mars, 39, has also received nominations for his hit song APT, featuring Blackpink's Rose, which also features in the best collaboration category.
For her hit song Abracadabra, Lady Gaga is nominated for best direction, best art direction, best cinematography, best editing, best choreography and best visual effects.
The singer, real name Stefani Germanotta, released her seventh studio album in March, and will be taking her Mayhem Ball Tour to London in September.
Beyonce and Taylor Swift, who have 30 VMAs each, are nominated once each in the artist of the year category, meaning either one of them could become the most-awarded musician in VMA history if they win.
This year, the music awards have introduced two new categories, best country and best pop artist.
Featured in the latter is Grande, Carpenter, Justin Bieber, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, Tate McRae and Charli XCX.
British pop artist Charli XCX, whose genre-defining sixth studio album Brat took the world by storm last year, has received five nods in total, including best video for good for her number one song Guess featuring US artist Billie Eilish.

The 33-year-old won five Brit Awards earlier in the year, including song of the year for her collaborative chart-topper.
US rapper Lamar soared to the top of the UK chart when he released his album GNX in November 2024, which is nominated for best album.
His stand out single, Not Like Us, has also earned him nominations for video of the year, best editing, best hip-hop and more.
British rising star Lola Young is among the first-time nominees and features in the best new artist category, also picking up a nod for best alternative for her hit song Messy.
The MTV VMAs returns to New York's UBS Arena on September 7.

It discovered that 24 per cent of Britons become frustrated when the person they're watching TV with munches their snacks too noisily, while another 21 per cent grow irritated with people who keep the volume too low. A quarter of adults acknowledged they're dreadful viewing partners, owning up to continuously bombarding others with questions during programmes. For nearly half, asking its mainly about understanding what is happening but 31 per cent confessed they simply weren't concentrating on what was happening. Despite these annoying habits, watching television together continues to be a strong way of bonding. A third (33 per cent) of those polled said an evening in front of the telly with mates is just as enjoyable as doing an activity together. To honour these peculiar habits, MandM'S launched a "Couch Confessions" pop-up experience in London, featuring telly-obsessed celebrities Sam Thompson and Scarlett Moffatt. Reality TV favourite Scarlett Moffatt revealed: "TV nights at home are my love language, chaotic, full of theme-tune singalongs and subtitle debates." She continued: "But hunkering down on the couch with Scott and Jude is what makes it so special. "I love the little quirks that turn ordinary nights into unforgettable family moments, because watching together is always more fun, even if Jude is the remote-control-king nowadays." The study also revealed what Britons believe would enhance their television-viewing experiences. A fifth (20 per cent) expressed a desire for snack bowls that perfectly distribute portions amongst viewers, whilst 19 per cent fantasised about a family-sized footstool allowing everyone to elevate their feet. Meanwhile, 15 per cent wished there was a device that automatically set the television to the 'perfect' volume. Guests at the M&M'S pop-up encountered some of these innovations directly, alongside treasure hunts for TV treats. The experience also celebrated the nation's preferred methods of communal television viewing, featuring themed spaces modelled on the contemporary British lounge. Regarding ideal TV viewing partners, Britons would most relish settling in with David Attenborough, Ant and Dec, and Olivia Colman. TV Personality and Radio Host, Sam Thompson, added: "I'm all about turning TV nights into a proper event with bean bags, onesies, volume up and a stash of snacks. The main collection of six stamps celebrates characters from Monty Python's Flying Circus, the BBC TV series which ran from 1969 to 1974 with sketches so popular, generations of fans can still recite all the lines. The stamps showcase highlights including the Spanish Inquisition, the Ministry Of Silly Walks, the Lumberjack Song, the Dead Parrot Sketch, Nudge Nudge, and Spam. The Spam sketch is one of the TV favourites celebrated in the stamp set (Royal Mail/PA) Formed in 1969, Monty Python was one of the UK's best-known comedy troupes, made up of comics Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Sir Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. Presented in a miniature sheet, and in honour of 50 years of the cult 1975 film, Monty Python And The Holy Grail, a further four stamps celebrate the film. Scenes featured on the stamps include The Black Knight's defiant ''Tis but a scratch!', King Arthur and his knights receiving their divine quest, and Sir Robin's encounter with the Three-Headed Giant: 'You're lucky, you're not next to him!' Sir Michael said, with a reference to a character from Monty Python's Flying Circus: 'Very glad to share a stamp with the nude organist!'. Idle, 82, created the medieval musical Spamalot, which earned a Tony award for best musical after its Broadway run. Chapman died of tonsil cancer in 1989 aged 48, while Jones died from a rare form of dementia in 2020, aged 77. The stamps, and a range of collectible products, are available to pre-order from August 7 and go on general sale from August 14.
