Despite winning 64 games during the regular season, the Cleveland Cavaliers fell short of winning the NBA title. Cleveland was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers, ending what was a special season.

With the Cavaliers falling short once again in the playoffs, the front office could have some tough decisions to make on the roster. Many believe that Cleveland could move on from some pieces to give itself more of a chance next year.
One of those moves could include All-Star guard Darius Garland. The tandem of Garland star Donovan Mitchell has been a major talking point for the Cavaliers, and it could see the team break up the duo.
According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Cavaliers could have a framework for a potential trade to send Garland to the Orlando Magic. Fedor speculated on how the two sides could come together on a deal.
"I think there's a framework, and I say framework because salary stuff becomes very, very difficult for the Cavs. So, you're just talking about a general framework with an understanding that other pieces are probably going to have to be involved. Maybe a third team is going to have to be involved. matching salary becomes very very difficult when you're talking about the Cavs and the salary situation that they're in. But I think there's a framework of a deal between the Cavs and the Magic that would involve Darius Garland and Jalen Suggs."

Photo byLosing Garland would hurt, but adding Suggs could be interesting. Cleveland would likely want more than just Suggs in return, but adding a defensive presence like Suggs could help offset some of the defensive issues that Mitchell has in the backcourt.
For the season, Suggs averaged 16.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Suggs would be a clear downgrade on the offensive end of the floor, and losing Garland could hurt the playmaking of the Cavaliers.

But after collapsing in the postseason, something needs to change on this team. It could see Cleveland move off of Garland or center Jarrett Allen this summer.
If either player becomes available on the trade market, there will be plenty of teams vying for their services. This will be a major offseason for the Cavaliers, and one that could change the trajectory of the franchise for years to come.

Guardians ace Shane Bieber stays optimistic despite facing setback in rehab
CLEVELAND (AP) — Shane Bieber promised himself after undergoing Tommy John surgery last April that he would be honest about his rehabilitation process. Even though the Cleveland Guardians ace is going through his first setback, Bieber is trying to remain optimistic. Bieber is in the middle of a seven-day pause from throwing after experiencing soreness in his right elbow following his first rehab start on May 31 and a bullpen session on Tuesday. The right-hander was scheduled to make his second rehab start with Double-A Akron on Friday before being shut down. 'My mind went back to a very close buddy of mine said a few weeks or a few months back when I was starting bullpens. He was like, 'Just don't freak out. If you get a setback, everybody gets at least one,'' Bieber said before Saturday's game against the Houston Astros. 'I was hoping to be that anomaly, but at the same time, maybe it's just part of the process and I'm trying to listen to my elbow and my body and do what's best for myself and the team in the long term.' Bieber will be checked again the middle of next week before the team's medical staff and specialist Dr. Keith Meister decide the next steps. Bieber threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings in an Arizona Complex League game on May 31, which was his 30th birthday. The 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner faced nine batters, allowed one hit and struck out five while throwing 42 pitches. 'I'm a little frustrated with the timing of it as I get out here to Cleveland and join the team, but unfortunately, these rehab processes aren't exactly linear,' Bieber said. 'I've had a fantastic progression up to this point. A small hiccup, but hopefully we'll just keep it at just that.' Bieber — who agreed to a one-year, $14 million contract last fall with a $16 million player option for 2026 — appeared to be on pace to return to the Guardians' rotation in late June, but that could be delayed until after the All-Star break. Cleveland (33-29) went into Saturday 7 1/2 games behind Detroit in the AL Central, and a half-game out of a wild-card spot. Guardians starters have the sixth-highest ERA in the American League (4.11). ___ AP baseball:
