VMC gets tough on debris dumping in water bodies

The committee on Monday raised the dumping of construction waste in the river. VMC commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu asked the officials concerned to investigate the matter and take strict action.
On Monday, the VMC issued a warning and began a drive against the disposal of building debris in the river. The civic body reiterated that the disposal of such waste in the river and water bodies is illegal. The VMC has a system to lift such waste and take it to two designated locations.
VMC appealed to citizens to inform it about instances of illegal construction waste dumping. The civic body will invoke the Environment (Construction and Demolition) Waste Management Rules, 2025, against violators.
