TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Launched in Ramnagar to Screen High-Risk Groups Across the District
Gadwal: Under the leadership of District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Siddappa, the 'TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' (TB-Free India Campaign) was launched today at the Ramnagar Urban Primary Health Center.
The primary objective of the program is to identify and test individuals showing symptoms of tuberculosis (TB), particularly targeting high-risk groups. These include diabetic patients, individuals with high blood pressure, people above the age of 60, current TB patients, those with a past history of TB, and their family members.
As part of today's screening, chest X-rays were conducted for 12 individuals, and sputum tests were carried out for 30 people.
This campaign is being implemented across the entire district.
Key officials who participated in the program include TB Program Officer Dr. Raju, Dr. Madhurya, Dr. Priyanka, Deputy DMO Madhusudhan Reddy, along with local health staff.
The health department emphasized that early detection and treatment are vital to achieving a TB-free society and encouraged people from all high-risk categories to get tested.

Health check-up camp launched in civic office
Gadwal: As part of 100-Day Action Plan, a health check-up camp was organised at the Aija Municipal Office on Friday. This initiative was spearheaded by Municipal Commissioner CH Saidulu, in coordination with Medical Officer Dr Kiran Kumar. Commissioner Saidulu emphasized that the State government is implementing the 100-Day Plan with a strong focus on welfare and health across departments. He announced that every Friday, a health camp will be conducted within the municipal office premises, exclusively for sanitation workers, water supply staff, electrical department employees, revenue staff, and other municipal officers. The camp includes basic health screenings such as blood pressure (BP) and blood sugar (diabetes) tests. The Commissioner also mentioned that those already diagnosed with conditions such as hypertension or diabetes will be provided with necessary medications, and if required, will be referred to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) for further lab testing and consultation. The event witnessed active participation from key personnel, including: Lakshanna, Senior Municipal Assistant.

Awareness campaign on TB elimination held in Veldurthi
Veldurthi (Kurnool district): As part of a special initiative to eliminate tuberculosis (TB), a 100-day campaign is currently being implemented across the country. Dr Raghu, Officer-in-Charge of Mobile Medical Unit, participated as the chief guest in an awareness programme held at Ayushman Arogya Mandir under Ramallakota Primary Health Centre limits on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Raghu emphasised the need to eradicate TB through collective efforts, just as India had successfully eradicated polio. He stated that a comprehensive awareness drive under TB Mukt Abhiyan is being conducted to dispel misconceptions about the disease and to sensitise the public about early diagnosis and treatment. Under the theme 'Yes, we can end TB', the Government of India has launched an intensified 100-day campaign focused on Tracing, Testing, and Treatment. The aim is to make India TB-free by identifying and treating all TB cases, especially the 'missing' or undiagnosed cases. Dr Raghu pointed out that people with poor nutrition, HIV infection, diabetes, substance abuse (alcohol and tobacco), chronic illnesses, or those living in unhygienic conditions—such as slum dwellers, beggars, and migrant populations—are more vulnerable to TB due to weakened immunity. He stressed the importance of early detection and timely treatment, noting that prolonged cough (more than two weeks), evening fevers, night sweats, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, fatigue, and general weakness are key symptoms of TB. He urged ASHA workers to identify such individuals as presumptive TB patients and refer them for diagnostic tests such as sputum examination and chest X-ray at nearby health centers. As part of the 100-day action plan, frontline health workers and ASHA activists will conduct extensive outreach programs to raise awareness about TB prevention and control in the community. Dr Bhuvana Teja, Health Supervisors Mohan, Community Health Officers Haseena and Mounika, TB Supervisor Mahesh, health staff, ASHA workers, projectionist Khaleel and others were present.
