Cooling begins Tuesday in Minnesota ahead of quiet stretch

CBS News3 days ago
Minnesota is headed for a much-needed break from the intense heat and humidity.
Expect highs in the lower 80s on Tuesday with moderate dew points, which will drop by night. Then, winds turn breezy from the northwest, helping usher in cooler, drier air. Some wildfire smoke may also mix in, especially up north. An air quality alert is in effect for the northern half of the state through 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
A few isolated showers or weak storms are possible later on, mainly in southern Minnesota during the afternoon and overnight hours.
A quiet, pleasant stretch begins midweek, with sunshine and highs in the upper 70s through Friday.

SALT LAKE CITY () — Happy Wednesday, Utah! Our Wednesday will feature mostly sunny, hazy, and breezy conditions. A gusty SW wind Wednesday afternoon will combine with the dry vegetation, very low humidity levels, and warm temperatures to expand the elevated fire danger across parts of northern and eastern Utah. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 90s for the Wasatch Front and 102 for St. George. A minor surge in potential monsoon moisture will try to bring a few isolated showers to the state for Thursday and Friday afternoon. The overall rain chance will remain pretty low, but isolated showers will be possible especially over southern and eastern Utah and far eastern Utah. Highs will remain in the mid to upper 90s for the Wasatch Front and into the low 100s for SW Utah. The end of the week and weekend will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs dipping back into the mid 90s for the Wasatch Front and around 100 for SW Utah during the afternoon hours.
