10,000 expected at Labour Day celebration at Axiata Arena
KUALA LUMPUR: Over 10,000 workers from both the public and private sectors are expected to join today's national-level Labour Day 2025 celebration at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, here which will be officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The event, which brings together representatives from trade unions, statutory bodies, as well as public and private sector organisations, serves as a platform to honour workers' contributions in driving national development in line with the Malaysia MADANI agenda.
Themed 'Pekerja Kesuma Bangsa', this year's celebration recognises the vital role of workers as the backbone of the country and key implementers of the aspirations of sustainability, justice and well-being.
At the event, the Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a special address and launch the MADANI Worker Card initiative along with the MyFutureJobs mobile application.
Anwar will also present the Labour Day Awards to celebrate the achievements of outstanding workers, employers, trade unions and media representatives, including two new categories introduced by the Human Resource Ministry, namely the National Public Service Worker Icon Award (Senior Management) and the Best Media Agency Award.
In conjunction with the celebration, various programmes are being held including pocket talks, a Labour Day Run, a special Friday sermon, the Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam, and a career carnival offering over 10,000 jobs.

'A civil suit, such as a defamation case, is a dispute between individuals or private parties and does not involve criminal investigations, corruption, or abuse of power in an official capacity,' he explained when contacted by Suara Keadilan. Meanwhile, Hanani Dhamirah, a member of Angkatan Muda Keadilan Malaysia, rejected the call by Srikandi Muda Bersatu for Anwar Ibrahim to go on leave, calling it baseless and a misuse of legal processes. She argued that it does not warrant taking leave, as civil cases are personal legal disputes, not evidence of wrongdoing or prosecution. Mohamad Shahrul Adnan, Chief of Angkatan Muda Keadilan Klang added that the call is a political distraction, not grounded in legal facts. Shahrul also emphasised that there is no legal basis requiring Anwar to take leave and that he continues to perform his duties with integrity. He further accused PAS of misusing legal issues for political gain and attempting to divert attention from their own failures in state governance and lack of constructive national opposition. The ASEAN leaders supported expanding the fragile ceasefire and called for inclusive political dialogue among all stakeholders in Myanmar. ASEAN continues to walk a delicate diplomatic tightrope, balancing engagement with the Myanmar military junta while maintaining credibility with the international community and pro-democracy groups. PM directs police to review travel restriction on activist Fahmi Reza
KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has directed Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay to review the travel restriction imposed on activist and graphic artist Fahmi Reza. In a statement today, the Prime Minister's Office said the Madani government upholds individual freedoms as long as they do not threaten national security or breach existing laws, according to Bernama. 'Therefore, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) must provide further clarification on this matter,' the statement said. 'The Prime Minister's Office will continue to monitor developments accordingly,' it added. Yesterday, Fahmi said he was prevented from boarding a flight to Singapore at KLIA2 after Immigration officers informed him that Bukit Aman had not given clearance for him to leave the country. He was previously barred from entering Sabah on May 29 and believes both incidents are linked to his satirical artwork criticising political figures, including former Sabah chief minister Tun Musa Aman. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain today clarified that there was no official travel ban against Fahmi and that his name had only been placed on a movement monitoring list. 'There was confusion during an immigration check at an exit point on June 7, 2025, which resulted in an incorrect instruction being issued,' he said in a statement.
