Harry Potter
Warner Bros revealed 9 new cast members for the upcoming Harry Potter series Monday. Draco Malfoy, his father Lucius Malfoy, the Dursley parents, Molly Weasley and several other cast members have all been announced.
This follows on the heels of a number of other major casting reveals including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter; Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger; Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley; John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore; Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape; Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall; Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid; and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
Here are the latest batch of actors cast for the series:

In the above image, from top left to bottom left, here are the new cast members revealed by HBO:
Lox Pratt certainly has the right look for Draco Malfoy. The most surprising thing about this latest batch of casting choices is Petunia and Vernon Dursley, who are quite a lot younger and better-looking than I expected them to be. So far, the casting for the series seems pretty on-point, though obviously most of the younger cast members are relative newcomers with few acting credits. The real question is whether the show will be enough not just to rekindle an interest in the Harry Potter universe, but to light a new fire under fantasy television as a genre and enterprise. The TV format should allow for a more in-depth and faithful adaptation of the books by J.K. Rowling, but a great deal depends on its creators. All too often in recent years, adaptations have strayed much too far from the source material.
The Harry Potter series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, who previously worked on Succession, His Dark Materials and Killing Eve. Killing Eve writer Laura Neal has also joined the writer's room. Mark Mylod (Succession, Game Of Thrones) will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series. Holly Waddington, who won an Oscar for Poor Things, has been signed on as costume designer. The show is executive produced by J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
Filming on the first season begins this summer at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, UK with a 2026 release window.

The Latest ‘Sinners' Deleted Scene Showcases a New Musical Number

As Ryan Coogler's Sinners is now available to rent or buy on digital, and its Blu-ray release date approaches, some of the special features have started to trickle out. Last week, a deleted scene showed the construction of Smoke and Stack's juke joint—a fluidly edited montage without dialogue that's entertaining to watch, but ultimately feels kind of superfluous. The most recent deleted scene release, however, is more illuminating, putting a spotlight on Delroy Lindo's Delta Slim as he takes a solo turn at the piano. The song is 'My Preachin' and in the extended shot, Delta Slim sings in profile close to the camera as Miles Caton's Sammie 'Preacher Boy' Moore watches admiringly in the background. You can also spot Pearline (Jayne Lawson) and Mary (Wunmi Mosaku) listening closely too. It's a slower, moodier moment tinged with mischief—maybe the sort of song Delta Slim would tend to launch into at the end of a long, boozy night, rather than while the party is still fully raging, as it would be at this moment in Sinners. Even though it was probably cut for pacing reasons, the scene is still a powerful one, tying into Sinners' themes about how music acts as a bridge between generations and enables emotional expressiveness, whether you happen to be a human or a vampire. It's also quite a lovely showcase for the veteran actor before his character makes his heroic last stand in act three. Sinners' physical release arrives July 8 on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K; you can rent or buy it now on digital platforms.

Neverwinter Nights 2 Is The Perfect Game For Baldur's Gate 3 Fans

Neverwinter Nights 2 Aspyr While Baldur's Gate 3 might be the current favorite jewel in the crown of Dungeons & Dragons media, it's far from the first. The franchise which began as a tabletop roleplaying game and has since morphed to include blockbuster movies, game of the year-winning video games, best-selling novels, geek culture-defining podcast series, and so much more, has a storied legacy of dozens of classic PC games. And Neverwinter Nights 2 was always one of the most elusive, until now. Developed by Aspyr, Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition releases on July 15 for PC (including Steam Deck verified), Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders are now live! This Enhanced Edition will include all three of the game's original expansions: Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate. The original Neverwinter Nights CRPG from BioWare shares a lot of DNA with the first two Baldur's Gate games in that it's from the same developer and is similar in overall gameplay style, but came out several years later under a different publisher. The sequel, Neverwinter Nights 2, was actually developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the folks also known for Pillars of Eternity, Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout: New Vegas, Grounded, Avowed, The Outer Worlds, and so much more. Plus, Neverwinter Nights 2 takes place in the exact same campaign setting (the Forgotten Realms) as Baldur's Gate 3 so many locations, factions, and overall themes will be familiar. The reason this is the perfect next game for you if you love Baldur's Gate 3 actually goes even deeper than that, though. Besides the DNA and development similarities in genre and franchise, the core gameplay, camera systems, dialogue trees, and overall game feel are also very similar. However, the main difference is that while Baldur's Gate 3 utilizes a fully turn-based combat system, Neverwinter Nights 2 is actually real-time with pause like the first two Baldur's Gate games and the first Neverwinter Nights. What real-time with pause (RTwP) combat entails is similar to Dragon Age: Origins and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. When combat is happening all of your characters are acting in real-time, but you can then pause the game to issue commands about which abilities to use and what to target. This mixes the slow-paced strategy of a turn-based game with the immediate and intense visceral reactions of a real-time combat game. From what we've seen so far, this remaster is going to be wonderful. I've played the Enhanced Editions of Baldur's Gate 1, Baldur's Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights, and Icewind Dale, so if you've dabbled in any of those as well then you understand what to expect here too. Fortunately, you don't need to have played the previous game to jump right in here. Neverwinter Nights 2 Aspyr The base game hasn't aged very gracefully though and, arguably, it's been the most in need of a remaster of the whole bunch if you ask me. Upgrading performance, improving resolution, and streamlining the janky bits so it runs well on modern machines (including consoles for the first time!) is just what the cleric ordered. Fans of Baldur's Gate 3 should definitely have Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition high on their to-be-played list for 2025.
