Gas production at Khor Mor's KM250 expansion is expected to start in Q2 2026.
In its results for FY 2024, Dana Gas said:
" In September 2024, Pearl Petroleum took over full responsibility for the KM250 expansion project following the termination of the original EPC contractor. Construction resumed fully in December and the project is now scheduled to achieve first gas by Q2 2026. Once operational, KM250 will add processing capacity for an additional 250 MMscf/d of gas, significantly boosting
Company's cashflows and financial performance.
"Khor Mor facilities currently supply more than 500 mmscf/d of gas to four power stations and enables the generation of approximately 2,800 MW of electricity which constitutes more than 75% of the KRI's power generation. This supply of steady and affordable gas, results in significant fuel cost savings and affordable electricity for millions of Iraqis in the KRI and neighboring governorates, benefiting the whole of Iraq. Once completed, additional gas supplied by the KM250 project to the region's power stations will play a vital role towards further supporting the economic development across the KRI and Iraq. "

However, European officials noted these measures remain in early implementation stages with significant concerns persisting over timing, consistency and alignment with international safety standards. Critical reforms including adoption of revised primary aviation law and strengthening of safety oversight systems remain incomplete without verifiable outcomes, according to the assessment. The planned Union on-site assessment visit scheduled for September 2025 has been deemed premature given the need for further demonstrable progress across core aviation safety oversight areas. Under current arrangements, EU member states must continue prioritising ramp inspections of all Iraqi-certified carriers to verify compliance with international safety standards. The Commission stated it would take further action if safety information reveals imminent risks from non-compliance with international standards. Iraq offers support for Lebanese Investors and Workers

Iraq's Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Mr Ahmed Al-Asadi, has confirmed his country's readiness to provide all possible facilitation for Lebanese workers in Iraq, provided that they comply with legal procedures designed to ensure their rights and protection. The remarks were made during a meeting with Lebanon's Minister of Labour, Dr Mohammad Bahjat Haidar, on the sidelines of the 113th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva. The two ministers discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in investment and encouraging Lebanese business owners to return to invest in Lebanon. Mr Al-Asadi acknowledged the impact of Lebanon's economic crisis on capital flows, especially in light of past failures in the banking sector. However, he affirmed Iraq's commitment to supporting Lebanon's economic recovery by encouraging Iraqi investors to explore opportunities there. He described investment as fundamental to national development, noting that Iraq has seen significant investment-driven growth over the past two to three years. On the subject of foreign and Arab workers in Iraq, Al-Asadi highlighted concerns about the large number of workers entering the country illegally. He stated that Iraq's Council of Ministers has issued a decision to regularise the status of such workers, enabling them to obtain residency and register with the Ministry of Labour. This step ensures their eligibility for legal wages, social security registration, and broader labour rights. Iraq Expands Gas Projects to Curb Flaring
By John Lee. As part of Iraq's government-backed gas development programme, the Ministry of Oil has reported significant progress in reducing gas flaring and increasing gas utilisation. It says the Ministry has raised associated gas capture from 53% to 70%, and dry gas production from 1,300 to 1,800 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd). Key projects already completed or underway include: The government aims to end routine flaring by 2028 and increase gas output to 3,000 mmscfd by 2030, aligning with Iraq's environmental commitments under the 2016 Paris Agreement. In liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), production rose from 2 million tonnes in 2024 to 3 million tonnes in 2025. Exports also surged from 250,000 tonnes in 2023 to 1 million tonnes in 2025. LPG systems were installed in over 41,000 homes and more than 38,000 vehicles. To expand storage capacity, the Ministry completed 8 of 16 spherical LPG tanks, each with a 3,000-cubic-metre capacity, adding 24,000 cubic metres overall. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to maximise national resource utilisation, enhance electricity supply, and boost petrochemical production. Gas field contracts under the 5th and 6th licensing rounds have been awarded to international companies, alongside dozens of investment agreements to develop both associated and free gas resources.
