Police: Man charged with arson after lighting bookbags on fire in Brunswick Academy Sports
A man is in Glynn County jail after police say he starting fires inside a Brunswick store Sunday.
James Morris, 44, is charged with 1st degree arson and criminal damage to property after police said he was igniting book bags in Academy Sports, 10400 Canal Crossing, a Glynn County police news release states.

Police and fire official were called to the store, but Morris left the scene and entered a neighboring business, the news release states. A Glynn County officer located Morris and arrested him.
'Store employees were able to extinguish the fire with assistance from the Glynn County Fire Department, which confirmed the area was safe and free of further hazards,' the news release states.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is looking for a man involved in a hit-and-run crash at Moncrief Road. Read: Caught on camera: Man hit by driver at Southside car meet A man riding a scooter was killed in the crash Friday night in Jacksonville. Police say it happened around 8:55 p.m. in the 4900 block of Moncrief Road West. The man was crossing the road on an electric stand-up scooter when he was hit by a Ford truck going north. Caught on camera: Man hit by driver at Southside car meet
Video circulating on social media shows the moment a man was hit by a driver at a car meet in a Southside parking lot. Witnesses said that it was supposed to be just a 'park and chill' type of meet. In dash camera video provided to Action News Jax, you can see the car speed across the parking lot before hitting the victim. People then started running over to see if he was okay. 'This car came up and he started doing donuts,' said Brandon Ferrill, who is part of the local car community. 'And first of all, that's dangerous in any parking lot, but this was a crowded parking lot.' 'He showed up to what was otherwise a pretty civilized event. It was just people hanging out here, chilling with their cars and they were here to talk. No one was driving around or anything,' said Ferrill. Another video shows a different angle of the collision. It appears the car swerved before hitting the man, and then took off. Action News Jax spoke with the man who was injured in the video, who said he had been released from the hospital. He said he had a head injury, but is now recovering. We asked JSO if they are investigating the incident, and a spokesperson said they were not aware of the incident or the video. We also requested reports Friday afternoon to see if police responded to the area the night this happened. We are waiting to hear back. As a member of the local car community, Ferrill said they don't stand for any kind of reckless behavior at their meets. A former Texas megachurch pastor is being sued by a woman who claims he sexually assaulted and abused her when she was 12 years old. The suit, filed this week in Dallas County District court, accuses Gateway Church founder Robert Morris and others of libel, malice, defamation, slander, failure to report, civil conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotional distress and unjust enrichment. They are seeking more than $1 million in damages.
