Google brings Gemini to another highly anticipated smartphone series

Phone Arena22-05-2025

Google and Oppo have been working together to further improve AI integration in smartphones. After recently announcing that its flagship Find X8 will support Android 16 Beta 3, Oppo revealed this week that Google Gemini is coming to its Reno 14 series.
Initially introduced in China last week, Reno 14 and Reno 14 Pro are now being prepared for their global launch. Oppo hasn't yet confirmed when they will be available, but today's announcement confirmed they will be available in all markets where the company sells its products. Building upon its partnership with Google, Oppo plans to take AI integration to the next level by adding Gemini to its mid-range Reno 14 phones. Gemini will be able to pull information and help Reno 14 users take action across multiple apps and services, including Oppo Notes, Calendar, and Clock. Also, Reno 14 users will be able to complete tasks directly in their chat thanks to Google's Gemini. With a single prompt, users can ask Gemini to work across their apps, simply by pressing and holding the side button to activate Gemini.

Oppo revealed that Gemini will support multi-app experiences to help users complete even more tasks and save time. For example, Reno 14 users can ask Gemini to summarize key points from a large document and save the summary directly into Oppo Notes app for easy access. With the addition of Google Gemini, managing schedules and daily routines will also become more intuitive. For instance, after booking a hotel or plane flight, Reno 14 owners can ask Gemini to 'add this to my Oppo Calendar,' which will automatically create an event in the app.Today's announcement doesn't really come as a surprise since Oppo announced earlier this year at MWC 2025 that it plans to enhance its AI strategy with new partnerships and collaborations. On top of that, Oppo revealed that it wants to bring AI features to nearly 100 million users by the end of 2025, but that will mostly depend on the popularity of its new phones.

Oppo uses record-breaking UEFA Champions League final to flex AI and camera muscle

The UEFA Champions League Final ended on Saturday with a dominating 5-0 win for PSG over Inter - a record victory in the competition's finals. The match took place in Munich, and since Oppo is one of the competition's main sponsors it took to the packed 75,000 arena to promote its latest smartphones and tech. Yes, the Find X8 Ultra is the series' flagship, but only the Pro is available in Europe, so understandably, Oppo focused on the Dimensity 9400-powered device instead. There was also a big focus on the Oppo AI features. The company set up multiple booths and experience zones where fans could take AI-powered photos with Kaka and Yamine Lamal, both company brand ambassadors. Some fans were also in for a treat, with a surprise appearance from Marco Materazzi, Inter legend and Champions League winner in 2010. Amazon is selling the 256GB Google Pixel Tablet (sans dock) at its lowest ever price again

If you're looking for the best Android tablet money can buy in 2025, the Pixel Tablet is... probably not it. But if you think you can settle for a decent device with a large but not uncomfortable screen, respectable processing power, excellent sound, and above all, stellar software support, this might be the moment to pull the trigger. That's because Amazon is slashing a whopping 140 bucks off the Google-made slate in a 256GB storage configuration and a single Porcelain color option at the time of this writing. If the hefty new discount happens to feel familiar, you should know that retailers like Amazon and Best Buy, as well as Google itself, have offered it a couple of times before. Wi-Fi Only, 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM, Google Tensor G2 Processor, Android 13, 10.95-Inch IPS LCD Screen with 2560 x 1600 Pixel Resolution, 8MP Rear-Facing Camera, 8MP Front Camera, 7,020mAh Battery with 15W Charging Capabilities, Porcelain Color, No Speaker Dock Included Buy at Amazon But the last time was around two months ago, and at least to my knowledge, no Pixel Tablet variant has been marked down more steeply than this at any point since the product made its commercial debut back in the summer of 2023. That means that you're looking at a very hard-to-turn-down promotion that may never return, as sooner or later, Google will retire this device... and unfortunately probably not roll out a sequel. Initially released alongside a speaker dock that clearly not everyone appreciated, the Pixel Tablet is deeply discounted here all alone. Still, you should be satisfied by this thing's productivity and entertainment prowess, especially for that price. Can you do better in the sub-$400 segment? Our not-very-flattering in-depth Pixel Tablet review from a couple of years ago certainly seems to suggest so, especially if you look at all those amazing mid-rangers Lenovo often sells for around $300... or even less. But Lenovo has nothing on Google in terms of software updates, so if you plan to use your tablet for more than a couple of years, this may well be your best choice... if you hurry. And yes, in case you're wondering, the 128GB variant (with or without a bundled dock) is also discounted right now, just not as steeply, making the 256 gig model an undeniably better "investment."

OnePlus 13s in for review

Today we have with us the OnePlus 13s. While we can't share all the details yet, we can show off the exterior and talk about some of the features of this upcoming device. The first thing we should say is that this is not the retail packaging. The fancy black box is just for showing on camera but if you place an order for the phone you'll just be getting the red box you see inside. The OnePlus 13s will come in three colors, black, green, and pink that we have here. The green model is exclusive to India while the pink makes the 13s the first OnePlus phone to ship in this color. On the side of the phone is the new Plus Key, which replaces the Alert slider on previous OnePlus flagships. This key can be assigned to various functions, including AI Plus Mind which captures and collates information on the screen within a new app called Mind Space that is part of the new OnePlus AI feature set. The 13s runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with a sizable internal cooling system. The phone features a 32MP front-facing camera with autofocus, a first for a OnePlus phone. There's also 5.5G networking and an independent Wi-Fi chipset. All of this is packed into a compact body with a 6.32-inch display. We will have a lot more to share when the phone gets officially launched on June 5. Until then, you can check out some camera samples from the phone.
