Cops question lorry driver after double line near miss in Nilai

NILAI: Police have recorded the statement of a trailer lorry driver captured in a video overtaking another trailer lorry along a double line stretch near here.
Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said officers were alerted after a 42-second clip of the near miss went viral on Monday (April 28).
"In the clip, it can be seen that the driver attempted to overtake another trailer lorry along a double line stretch.
"The trailer lorry almost crashed into a car coming from the opposite direction," he said in a statement.
Both the car and trailer lorry drivers stopped their vehicles to avoid an accident.
The incident occurred along Jalan Labu-Gadong.
Supt Abdul Malik said the lorry driver, in his 30s, was heading towards Banting in Selangor from the Labu quarry when the incident happened.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
He urged witnesses to contact Nilai police at 06-790 4389 or investigating officer Insp Zakaria Mohamad Jais at 019-699 0142 to assist with investigations.
The driver was released after his statement was recorded.
