Austin Hill suspended by NASCAR for intentional crash at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Time of India30-07-2025
NASCAR
has suspended
Austin Hill
for one Xfinity Series race following his intentional wreck of
Aric Almirola
during Saturday's event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The incident occurred while both drivers were running in the top five.
After Almirola made contact that pushed Hill up the track, Hill appeared to retaliate by hooking Almirola in the right rear, sending him into the outside wall. Hill was penalized five laps during the race and finished 34th, while Almirola ended up 35th.

The suspension comes with major consequences. Hill loses all 21 playoff points he had accumulated this season-previously third-most behind Connor Zilisch (29) and Justin Allgaier (22) - and is now barred from earning additional playoff points unless he is granted a waiver. This rule stems from a policy introduced prior to the 2025 season.
Richard Childress Racing
has named Cup Series driver
Austin Dillon
as Hill's replacement for this weekend's Xfinity race at Iowa. Hill, currently seventh in the Xfinity standings with three wins, now risks falling further in the rankings.
Live Events
Only the top 12 drivers qualify for the Xfinity playoffs, making Hill's path to championship contention much more difficult.
Although Hill claimed the incident was unintentional, his fiery, expletive-laced reaction to the penalty likely didn't help his case. The suspension significantly alters the playoff picture and puts Hill in a must-perform situation for the remainder of the regular season.

Honda's first-quarter profit hit by tariffs, but lifts annual outlook

Japanese car giant Honda said Wednesday its net profit halved in the first quarter because of US tariffs , but upgraded its annual profit forecast after Tokyo finally hammered out a trade deal with Washington. In the first three months of its fiscal year, which begins in April, net profit fell to 196.67 billion yen ($1.33 billion), a drop of 50.2 percent year-on-year, the firm said. However, Honda, Japan's second-biggest automaker after Toyota, has managed to withstand the pressure better than its Japanese competitors. Live Events More than 60 percent of the vehicles it sells in the United States are built there, the highest percentage of all major Japanese automakers, according to Bloomberg Intelligence auto analyst Tatsuo Yoshida. Despite tariff impacts and one-time expenses related to investment in electric vehicles, sales in the United States "remained strong", rising 1.2 percent year on year in yen terms, Honda said. Under a deal by Tokyo and Washington announced in July, tariffs on Japanese autos will fall to 15 percent, although this has yet to take effect. Other Japanese imports will be subject to a 15 percent "reciprocal" tariff, down from a threatened 25 percent. Without specifying its calculations, Honda said Wednesday that it had significantly revised downward the gross impact of the US tariffs on its annual results, to 450 billion yen, "based on a detailed review". As a result, it now expects only a 50 percent drop in its net profit for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, to 420 billion yen, compared with the previously anticipated collapse of 70 percent. It now sees an annual revenue decline of 2.7 percent, compared with the previously forecast drop of 6.4 percent.

As Ben Shelton reached the semi‑finals of the National Bank Open in Toronto on August 6, 2025, the Washington Spirit forward posed questions about tennis that even he couldn't clearly explain. She turned to fans with fresh confusion and curiosity. Her post became a bridge between two sports worlds, drawing attention to etiquette, traditions, and the differences between soccer and tennis. Trinity Rodman asks tennis questions after Ben Shelton wins quarterfinal On August 6, 2025, Ben Shelton beat Alex de Minaur in Toronto in straight sets (6‑3, 6‑4) to advance to the National Bank Open semi‑finals. Trinity Rodman, 23, watched from afar and shared a TikTok video asking tennis fans for help understanding the game. She admitted that she asked Ben Shelton about tennis rules but his answers left her more confused. One question she stressed: why do players raise their hand and say 'sorry' when they win a point after the ball hits the net? She compared it to scoring off the post in soccer and apologising to the goalkeeper, something she found puzzling. She also wondered why tennis players must act so reserved after winning a point, as showing strong emotion can be seen as cocky. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like What Happens To Celebrities That Go To Jail? She joked that a match between Ben Shelton and Flavio Cobolli felt like a 'Spider‑Man meme' because they wore nearly identical outfits. Trinity Rodman wrapped up the video by suggesting two changes: let players choose the music during changeovers and extend the 90‑second break between games. She said long waits can cause missed bathroom breaks or lost games. Her video drew over 137 comments from fans who didn't think her questions were 'stupid'.
