America Has Failed To Secure Red Sea Navigation
Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Yemen's Houthi group, is once again directly challenging the United States by essentially declaring victory over US naval operations in the Red Sea.
At this point US Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched literally hundreds of strikes in various places across Yemen over the last three weeks, especially the capital as well as the key port of Hodeidah. Al-Houthi on Thursday declared that the 'US failed to prevent military operations and secure maritime navigation for the Israeli enemy.'
'Despite all the escalation, the Americans have failed to stop our missile and drone attacks,' he continued. 'Failure to support the Palestinian people has serious consequences and emboldens the enemy.'
This week was kicked off with yet more Houthi attacks on US warships in the Red Sea, at a moment a second US aircraft carrier is en route toward Mideast waters:
The Iran-backed Houthis aren't backing down – at least not yet. Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree said the Iranian-backed terror group targeted US warships and Israel on Wednesday, adding that some of the attacks involved drones.
'The Yemeni Armed Forces [Houthis] have carried out new drone operations, targeting a US warship in the Red Sea and an Israeli military site in Tel Aviv,' Iranian state media said.
More drone and ballistic missile attacks have also been launched directly on Israel of late. There's been no evidence that Houthi attacks have so much as slowed due to the ramped-up US operations since March 15.
Fully stamping out the Houthi movement could prove nearly impossible, especially as currently this is limited to an air war. Even the Atlantic Council has admitted that 'The United States' ability to track al-Houthi is likely hindered by limited intelligence on the ground in Yemen.'

Israel MPs to vote on opposition bid to dissolve parliament
Israeli lawmakers will vote Wednesday on a bill submitted by the opposition to dissolve parliament, which if successful could start paving the way to a snap election. The ultra-Orthodox Shas and United Torah Judaism parties threatened to back the motion for early elections amid a row over compulsory military service. Netanyahu's government, one of the most right-wing in Israel's history, has been pushing to reverse the long-standing exemption from the draft for ultra-Orthodox Jews. The exemption has faced growing criticism as Israel wages war on Hamas in Gaza, with Netanyahu under pressure from within his Likud party to draft more ultra-Orthodox men and impose penalties on draft dodgers -- a red line for Shas.

Israel strikes Yemen's Huthi-held Hodeida port
Yemen's rebel-controlled media reported Israeli strikes on the port of Hodeida yesterday, with the Israeli army saying its navy had hit the area following calls on civilians to evacuate three Huthi-held ports. 'Israeli Navy Missile Ships struck terror targets belonging to the Huthi terrorist regime in the port of ' Hodeida, the Israeli army said in a statement. 'The strikes were carried out to stop the use of the port for military purposes,' it said, adding that the port was being 'used to transfer weapons'. Al-Masirah TV channel said 'two strikes by the Israeli enemy targeted the docks of the port of Hodeida'. In a post on X, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said 'we warned the Huthi terror organisation that if they continued firing toward Israel, they would face a powerful response and be subjected to a naval and aerial blockade.' Earlier, Colonel Avichay Adraee, an Israeli army spokesman said that 'because of the use of maritime ports by the Huthi terrorist regime, we call on all people present' in the ports of Ras Issa, Hodeida and Salif 'to evacuate them immediately for their own security' in an Arabic post on X and Telegram. Yemen's Huthis have repeatedly launched missiles and drones at Israel since the Gaza war broke out in October 2023 with Palestinian militant group Hamas's attack on Israel.

UK Imposes Historic Sanctions On Hardline Israeli Ministers
In a historic shift in UK-Israel relations, Britain is imposing formal sanctions on hardline Israeli ministers Bezalel Smotrich (Finance) and Itamar Ben Gvir (National Security) after months of inflammatory statements about Gaza have caught the world's attention. The sanctions, unveiled Tuesday, are to include asset freezes and travel bans, following similar measures from the governments of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and others. These countries have previously sanctioned various radical Zionist settler groups and individuals, something the US also did under Biden. Ben Gvir has several times called for the 'voluntary emigration' of Gazans, and he along with Smotrich have frequently made statements overtly backing an ethnic cleansing program. 'My right, my wife's, my children's, to roam the roads of Judea and Samaria are more important than the right of movement of the Arabs,' Ben Gvir said for example in 2023 of occupied West Bank areas. Both Israeli ministers have actively supported the most extreme settler groups operating in the West Bank, made up of individuals who call for the removal of Palestinians by force or even death. They've long been involved in movements and political parties who also advocate for the expulsion of all Arabs from Israeli society. According to an Al Jazeera backgrounder: The 47-year-old lawyer and politician has led the far-right party Jewish Power (Otzma Yehudit) since 2019, and was sworn into the cabinet after last year's elections. He was later appointed the national security minister and handed control of Israel's Border Police division in the occupied West Bank. A settler in Kiryat Arba, one of the most radical settlements in the occupied West Bank (all of which are illegal under international law), Ben-Gvir has been convicted of incitement to racism, destroying property, possessing a 'terror' organisation's propaganda material and supporting a 'terror' organization – Meir Kahane's outlawed Kach group, which he joined when he was 16. Ben Gvir responded to the UK's sanctions move later on Tuesday. He expressed 'contempt for the White Paper' – characterizing it as akin to the 1939 UK policy paper limiting Jewish immigration to British-administered 'Mandatory Palestine'. 'We survived Pharaoh, we will also survive Keir Starmer,' he said. 'I will continue to work for Israel and the people of Israel without fear or intimidation!' At a dedication ceremony for a new settlement near Hebron, Smotrich, Ben Gvir said that 'Britain has already tried once to prevent us from settling the cradle of our homeland and we will not allow it to do so again.' He emphasized in front of settler groups, 'We are determined to continue building.' But ironically many of the same Western governments now sanctioning the two Israeli officials have long supplied heavy weapons to the Israeli military. These governments still remain a party to one side of this war which has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians, and utter decimation of the Gaza Strip in the wake of the Oct.7, 2023 Hamas terror attacks, but there appears no peaceful solution on the horizon.
