'This centralised platform will connect participants of all sizes across the fund value chain, fostering greater collaboration and elevating operational efficiencies for the fund distribution industry,' CEO Bonnie Chan Yiting said at a ceremony to launch the service on Thursday.
'This offering underscores our commitment to further advance the development of Hong Kong's fund distribution ecosystem and to enhance its position as a leading hub for wealth and asset management in the region.'
The order-routing service on the exchange's fund platform was designed to facilitate seamless interaction between fund distributors and transfer agents with mutual fund companies. The funds' subscription and redemption information will be available electronically via the platform.

India risks Trump's tariffs as oil refiners may still buy Russian

India has not given the country's oil refiners instructions to stop buying Russian oil, according to people familiar with the matter, as officials grapple with meeting energy needs and maintaining ties with Moscow without further angering US President Donald Trump. Advertisement No decision has been taken as yet on stopping imports from Russia , the people said, asking not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter. Both state-run and private refiners are allowed to buy from their preferred sources, and crude purchases remain a commercial decision made by them, several of the people said. Trump blasted India on Wednesday for continuing to purchase most of its military equipment and energy from Russia. The US leader imposed a surprise 25 per cent tariff on India and threatened an additional penalty for its close ties with Moscow. Two days later, Trump told reporters he 'heard' India would no longer be buying oil from Russia, calling it 'a good step.' India has maintained its energy purchases are driven by market forces and price. Last week, refiners were told to come up with plans for buying non-Russian crude, people familiar said to reporters. The government asked state-owned processors to prepare an outline of where alternate barrels can be sourced and at what volume if Russian flows get stopped, they said. One of the people said the instruction amounted to scenario planning in case Russian crude were to become unavailable. Hong Kong may return to operating account surplus in 2025-26: Paul Chan

Hong Kong is on track to return to an operating account surplus for the 2025-26 financial year, with the result largely fuelled by a surge in stamp duty income from the city's robust stock market performance, the finance chief has said. Advertisement Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po made his prediction of a surplus – set to occur a year earlier than previously estimated – on Sunday, while cautioning that economic growth in the second half of the year would be less pronounced than in the first, without the export surge driven by 'rush shipments' ahead of renewed US tariffs. 'For stamp duty, we expect to gain around HK$130 million [US$16.5 million] for every HK$100 billion of transactions because some transactions, such as the exchange-traded products, are exempt from stamp duty,' he told a radio programme. The Hang Seng Index has recorded an increase of more than 25 per cent so far this year. The average daily turnover in the stock market for the first half of the year was around $240 billion, an increase of 120 per cent year on year. Hong Kong's stock exchange earlier reported a surge in IPO activity in the first quarter of the year, with 17 new listings attracting a total of HK$18.7 billion, nearly quadrupling year-on-year figures. Advertisement 'If the momentum goes on, the operating account in the 2025-26 financial year, which we earlier predicted to suffer a deficit of several billion dollars, may return to surplus,' Chan said. The government earlier predicted that the operating account would return to a surplus in the 2026-27 financial year or later.
