Why the Premier League has fined Man City £1m
Manchester City have been fined more than £1m by the Premier League for breaching the rules around delayed kick-offs and restarts nine times last season, England's top-flight league said on Thursday.
The fine comes a year after City paid £2m to the league for breaching the same game-delay rules.
The club accepted and apologised for the rule breaches, and confirmed they have reminded their players and staff of their responsibilities in complying with the rules.
"Rules relating to kick-offs and re-starts help ensure the organisation of the competition is set at the highest possible professional standard and provides certainty to fans and participating clubs," the league said in a statement.
"It also ensures the broadcast of every Premier League match is kept to schedule."
Fines totalling £1m pounds were imposed relating to City's home games against Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, West Ham United and Newcastle United and their away fixtures against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Ipswich Town.
The longest game delays were two minutes 22 seconds each for restarts v West Ham and Ipswich.
City are awaiting the verdict of 115 unrelated charges of alleged breaches of the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
The charges cover a period starting from 2009 and continuing into the 2022-23 season. City have always denied any wrongdoing.

"If you look at his style of play, it's a perfect match with how David Moyes likes to play. While his numbers haven't been great this season, Moyes loves hard workers and that's something you can never complain about in regards to Hojlund. "It's not very often David Moyes has had a 20-30 goals-per-season striker. He's had strikers who run in behind and create space to bring others into play, so, if he's available, Hojlund could be a tempting option for Everton to sign on loan." Chelsea told to ignore Garnacho Chelsea should steer clear of a move for Alejandro Garnacho, according to their former midfielder Emmanuel Petit. Speaking to talkSPORT Bet, Petit argued the Argentine's visible frustration in recent weeks is a concern. 'Chelsea should steer clear of Alejandro Garnacho, he might be a decent guy but I didn't like his behaviour on Manchester United's tour," Petit said. 'He is showing frustration but has had a lot of chances to show his potential on the pitch, but still we don't know what to expect from him. He gives 100% and shows great commitment, but we haven't seen him really improve as a player. 'The mentality is there on the pitch but he hasn't been improving step by step. Chelsea already have wingers in similar situations with the same frustrations. Signing Garnacho is not a good idea.' Post Office Capture scandal: Sir Alan Bates calls for those responsible for wrongful convictions to be 'brought to account'
Why you can trust Sky News Sir Alan Bates has called for those responsible for the wrongful convictions of sub postmasters in the Capture IT scandal to be "brought to account". It comes after Sky News unearthed a report showing Post Office lawyers knew of faults in the software nearly three decades ago. The documents, found in a garage by a retired computer expert, describe the Capture system as "an accident waiting to happen". 11:28 Sir Alan said the Sky News investigation showed "yet another failure of government oversight; another failure of the Post Office board to ensure [the] Post Office recruited senior people competent of bringing in IT systems" and management that was "out of touch with what was going on within its organisation". The unearthed Capture report was commissioned by the defence team for sub postmistress Patricia Owen and served on the Post Office in 1998 at her trial. It described the software as "quite capable of producing absurd gibberish" and concluded "reasonable doubt" existed as to "whether any criminal offence" had taken place. Ms Owen was found guilty of stealing from her branch and given a suspended prison sentence. She died in 2003 and her family had always believed the computer expert, who was due to give evidence on the report, "never turned up". Adrian Montagu reached out after seeing a Sky News report earlier this year and said he was actually stood down by the defending barrister with "no reason given". The barrister said he had no recollection of the case. Victims and their lawyers hope the newly found "damning" expert report, which may never have been seen by a jury, could help overturn Capture convictions. 1:49 'These people have to be brought to account' Sir Alan, the leading campaigner for victims of the Horizon Post Office scandal, said while "no programme is bug free, why [was the] Post Office allowed to transfer the financial risk from these bugs on to a third party ie the sub postmaster, and why did its lawyers continue with prosecutions seemingly knowing of these system bugs?" He continued: "Whether it was incompetence or corporate malice, these people have to be brought to account for their actions, be it for Capture or Horizon." More than 100 victims have come forward More than 100 victims, including those who were not convicted but who were affected by the faulty software, have so far come forward. Capture was used in 2,500 branches between 1992 and 1999, just before Horizon was introduced - which saw hundreds wrongfully convicted. The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), the body responsible for investigating potential miscarriages of justice, is currently looking at a number of Capture convictions. A CCRC spokesperson told Sky News: "We have received applications regarding 29 convictions which pre-date Horizon. 25 of these applications are being actively investigated by case review managers, and two more recent applications are in the preparatory stage and will be assigned to case review managers before the end of June. "We have issued notices under s.17 of the Criminal Appeal Act 1995 to Post Office Ltd requiring them to produce all material relating to the applications received. "To date, POL have provided some material in relation to 17 of the cases and confirmed that they hold no material in relation to another 5. The CCRC is awaiting a response from POL in relation to 6 cases." A spokesperson for the Department for Business and Trade said: "Postmasters negatively affected by Capture endured immeasurable suffering. We continue to listen to those who have been sharing their stories on the Capture system, and have taken their thoughts on board when designing the Capture Redress Scheme."

In-form Kolo Muani wants to stay at Juventus after Club World Cup
June 20 (Reuters) - On-loan France striker Randal Kolo Muani said he would like to stay at Juventus next season after a Man of the Match performance for the Italian team in their impressive Club World Cup opener. Kolo Muani, who arrived at the club from Paris Saint Germain on a short-term deal in January, scored two goals as Juventus hammered Al-Ain 5-0 on Wednesday, taking his tally to five goals in his last six matches for the Italian club. "Honestly, I feel very good here," the 26-year-old told Mediaset after the Group G match in Washington D.C. "I can play well and score goals. I am happy, I hope to stay." General manager Damien Comolli told reporters last week that Juventus had discussed another loan with PSG when negotiating an extension to Kolo Muani's existing deal for the Club World Cup. "I'm optimistic that we can come to an agreement with PSG regarding a loan for the entire 25-26 season," he said. "Paris Saint Germain have certainly not closed the door to a loan, and they know the player wants to stay with us." Juventus coach Igor Tudor's optimistic response to Wednesday's victory might have been tempered by the knowledge that the two best performers in the game are only at the club on deals which expire after the tournament. Portuguese winger Francisco Conceicao, who is on loan from Porto, also grabbed a brace of goals after terrorising the Al-Ain defence from both flanks at Audi Field. Tudor has used the 22-year-old sparingly since taking over from Thiago Motta in March, suggesting Juventus might not be ready to trigger the 30 million euros ($34.57 million) buyout clause in his contract and keep him in Turin.
