Travel enthusiast's night on sleeper train leaves viewers shocked by one detail
The travel and food content creator boarded the train from London to Penzance on their overnight service but viewers of his journey were left stunned A sleeper train to your destination is an efficient way to make the most of your time away. Boarding in the evening and having a night's sleep before waking up where you need to be means no wasted waking hours. And one man who tried out this way of travelling and documented it in an Instagram video is George Kimm. He is a UK based food and travel content creator who posts under @george_in_london. George boarded the sleeper train from London to Penzance and said he was going to give an honest review of the service. But his followers were left stunned by one thing and that was the price he paid, reports Cornwall Live. George had bought a small solo cabin on board the Great Western Railway (GWR) locomotive which was leaving from London Paddington to Penzance in Cornwall. GWR's Night Riveria service takes around eight hours to arrive. George said his cabin was 'very cosy' but that it had what he needed. The cabin has a single bed, a table that doubled as a sink, a wardrobe, and under-bed storage, which he found "very useful". GWR also provided some amenities, including soap and bottled water. While the toilet was located outside of his room, George reckoned that GWR had 'really thought of everything else'. The London-based content creator added: "Before we left London Paddington I had a look in the onboard bar where you can sit down, relax. They also provide free tea and coffee with biscuits and when it comes to going to sleep, I actually had a really good experience." After getting settled and having a look around, George watched the train depart from the station before heading to bed. He revealed that he loved the sounds and motion of the train, as they helped him fall asleep. When George awoke the following morning, he had breakfast, which was included with his cabin. He chose a cup of tea and a sausage roll, commenting that it was 'very delicious'. The travel enthusiast added: "And it was so lovely to have my breakfast whilst watching the countryside whizz by." But when he shared the cost, viewers of his reel couldn't help but comment. George said: "My ticket cost £119 and an additional £149 for the cabin." George believed it was "such a cool experience" falling asleep in London and waking up in Cornwall. He felt that it was "honestly so worth it" and something that he would definitely do again. The Instagram post has garnered an incredible one million views, thousands of likes and more than 400 comments. One user highlighted: "£75 return to Paris, just saying." George responded: "Totally get it. This was a bucket list trip." Another commented: "Looks fun but the price is insane." A third amazed viewer questioned: "Omg... how much?" Someone else even branded the price as "criminal." Despite the steep price, some viewers found a silver lining. One remarked: "This looks like a great experience but it's very costly for a return journey. I guess the benefit is both journeys are during the night so you aren't losing out on any holiday time." Another chimed in: "Would love to do this! ! Honestly would see the cost as part of the holiday, so special." Great Western Railway Night Riviera passengers can snag an airline-style seat at no extra charge when they book a ticket for the train, with prices for a single cabin starting from just £49 per customer.

Man takes London sleeper train - but price of 'tiny solo cabin' has people floored
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A bloke who documented his journey on a sleeper train from London to Cornwall left social media users astounded when he disclosed how much he forked out for his tiny solo cabin. George Kimm, a UK travel and food content creator, set off on an overnight trip from London to Cornwall via the Great Western Railway (GWR) Night Riviera, documenting his adventure on Instagram. Setting off from London Paddington, the service reaches Penzance the next morning following a journey of just over eight hours. The travel buff shared his honest assessment of the expedition, but it was the price tag that left his Instagram followers flabbergasted. This comes after photographs reveal the most affordable seaside destination in England is packed with deserted £40k properties 'nobody wants'. George secured himself a "very cosy" single cabin aboard the service, featuring a single bed, a table that served as a washbasin, a wardrobe, and storage beneath the bed, which he described as "very useful". GWR also supplied various facilities, including soap. He noted that the loos were situated beyond the cabins, but apart from that, he believed the rail operator "really had thought of everything else". The London-based content creator continued: "Before we left London Paddington I had a look in the onboard bar where you can sit down, relax. They also provide free tea and coffee with biscuits and when it comes to going to sleep, I actually had a really good experience.", reports the Mirror. After settling in and exploring his surroundings, George observed the train pulling away from the platform before retiring for the night. He disclosed that the rhythmic sounds and gentle swaying of the carriage actually assisted him in drifting off to sleep. Upon waking the next day, George enjoyed his complimentary breakfast that came with his sleeping compartment. He opted for a cup of tea alongside a sausage bap, describing it as "very delicious". The travel enthusiast remarked: "And it was so lovely to have my breakfast whilst watching the countryside whizz by." He wrapped up his Instagram reel by disclosing the total cost of his adventure, stating: "My ticket cost £119 and an additional £149 for the cabin." George considered it "such a cool experience" nodding off in London and awakening in Cornwall. He felt it was "honestly so worth it" and something he would certainly repeat. The Instagram clip has attracted an astonishing one million views, thousands of likes and over 400 comments, Cornwall Live reports. One user pointed out: "£75 return to Paris, just saying." George replied: "Totally get it. This was a bucket list trip." Another remarked: "Looks fun but the price is insane." A third stunned viewer asked: "Omg... how much?". Someone else even labelled the price as "criminal." Despite the hefty price tag, some viewers managed to see the bright side. One commented: "This looks like a great experience but it's very costly for a return journey. I guess the benefit is both journeys are during the night so you aren't losing out on any holiday time." Another added: "Would love to do this! ! Honestly would see the cost as part of the holiday, so special." Travellers on Great Western Railway's Night Riviera can secure an airline-style seat at no additional cost when they purchase a ticket for the service, with fares for a single cabin beginning at just £49 per passenger.
