Springfield-Branson National Airport unveils new history exhibit
The exhibit, titled 'History of Aviation in the Ozarks,' is now open to the public and can be viewed in the terminal lobby, near the airline ticket counters.
Steel, aluminum tariffs expected to impact Springfield consumers
SGF says the three-panel display showcases the many stories of the Ozarks' aviation and cultural history. The exhibit features thousands of photos and artifacts reviewed by the History Museum team, such as photos of Harry Truman, pilots in Phelps Grove Park in 1916 and numerous Ozark Airlines milestones.
'Since its opening in 2009, the Springfield-Branson National Airport has served as a destination in itself for the Ozarks,' said Brian Weiler, director of aviation at SGF. 'But while we are a modern airport, there have been decades of aviation history in our region that led the airport to be what it is today. We honor the work of the aviators and pilots before us with this new exhibit and partnership.'

Jelly Roll Deepfake Used in Car Contest Scam: ‘I Really Thought It Was [Him]'
A Springfield man says he was scammed out of money by a fake account using artificial intelligence to impersonate country music star Jelly Roll. Ronnie Flint told 2 NEWS he was stunned at how convincing the scam appeared, and he now wants to warn others before they fall victim. According to Flint, the ordeal began when he received a Facebook message claiming he had won $50,000 and a brand-new car. The account then sent him a video that appeared to show Jelly Roll asking him to cover shipping costs for the prizes. At first, Flint was skeptical—even after the page sent him what they claimed was the singer's official driver's license. But a second video shocked him. "When they sent the second video where he actually said my full name, that got me. I was like, wow, it really is Jelly Roll. He said my name." Believing the videos were real, Flint sent the scammers $70 in Apple gift cards, even though he's on a fixed income: "I even told him that I'm on disability. You know, this is all the money that I have for the rest of the month." A family member eventually warned Flint that it was a scam, and he filed a police report. However, the fake account has continued to message him, demanding more money. "They're thinking I'm going to send them another $30 on the 3rd, which ain't going to happen," Flint told 2 NEWS. "That's why I called you guys, because I want to put it out there because maybe somebody else already fell for it. I don't want them to fall for it the way I did." Shaquille O'Neal Will Not Present Dwight Howard At 2025 Hall Of Fame Induction
Shaquille O'Neal Will Not Present Dwight Howard At 2025 Hall Of Fame Induction originally appeared on Fadeaway World. What was shaping up to be a poetic full-circle moment in NBA history has taken an unexpected turn. Shaquille O'Neal, who had reportedly agreed to present Dwight Howard at the 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame induction, will no longer be doing so. Instead, Howard will be honored by a legendary cast that includes Dominique Wilkins, Robert Parish, Dennis Rodman, and Patrick Ewing. The change, which was first reported just days ahead of the ceremony, has sent ripples through the basketball world, not just because of the names involved, but because of what it symbolizes. Howard and Shaq had one of the most public and bitter beefs in modern NBA history. For over a decade, O'Neal criticized Howard's game, personality, and even his right to use the 'Superman' nickname, which both big men made iconic in their own eras. But in recent months, things seemed to have turned around. Back in April, Howard had posted that he wanted Shaq, Kevin Garnett, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to 'walk him out' at the Hall of Fame. He even gave interviews stating how excited he was that Shaq would be presenting him, going so far as to call it a dream come true. 'Whatever he says will be amazing. I'm looking forward to that day.' The two had reportedly squashed their beef, where they spoke face-to-face and buried their long-standing differences. That reconciliation led to speculation and confirmation that Shaq would be among Howard's presenters. Now, that appears to have fallen through. Whether due to a scheduling issue, a last-minute change of heart, or something behind the scenes, Shaq is officially off the list. Neither O'Neal nor Howard has publicly addressed the change, but it's certainly raised eyebrows among fans who were eager to witness the symbolic passing of the torch from one dominant center to the next. Despite the absence of Shaq, Howard won't be lacking in support. His list of presenters features some of the greatest big men to ever play the game, Ewing, Wilkins, Rodman, and Parish, each of whom reflects different aspects of Howard's legacy: defense, rebounding, athleticism, and tenacity. Their presence ensures that his enshrinement will still carry the reverence and recognition he deserves. Howard's Hall of Fame induction comes after a remarkable 18-year NBA career where he averaged 15.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game, while shooting nearly 59% from the field. He made eight All-Star appearances, was named Defensive Player of the Year three times, and led the Orlando Magic to the NBA Finals in 2009. For all the criticism he received, Howard's resume is undeniable. In the end, even without Shaq beside him, Dwight Howard enters the Hall with the full weight of his accomplishments and with a supporting cast of legends who know exactly what it means to dominate the story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Aug 7, 2025, where it first appeared.

Paving starts Tuesday on Morgan Road in West Springfield
WEST SPRINGFIELD — Mayor William Reichelt said on social media Wednesday that paving work on Morgan Road is set to begin Aug. 12. Earlier, Reichelt said crews needed at least two weeks to raise manholes and catch basins before paving could start. While it has been two-and-a-half weeks since milling started, that work is moving along, he said. 'Compared to other roads, this is a much larger project — covering about 1.5 miles and involving adjustments to over 125 structures, all while keeping the road open for travel,' the post said. He asked drivers and residents to remain patient while the town finishes the project. Anyone with questions can contact the Department of Public Works, he said. more news from Western Massachusetts Demolition to begin at vacant Mary Lane Hospital campus in Ware Maine man pleads guilty in decades-old rape case, sentenced to 12-15 years Hampden county communities to see major state investment in transportation projects 'I see people holding back,' but retailers hope for tax-free boost this weekend Now-closed UMass marmoset lab euthanized its colony of monkeys Read the original article on MassLive.
