Gov. Gen Mary Simon plans to invest six individuals into the Order of Canada during the ceremony, including actor Ryan Reynolds and musician Heather Rankin.

The evening show in Ottawa will feature artists like Sarah McLachlan, Coeur de Pirate, Brenda Montana, Dear Rogue and Alex Wells.

Other Canada Day ceremonies are happening across the country, including the Canada Together event in Vancouver and a celebration at Victoria Park in Charlottetown.

The fireworks show over the central river valley, which will be livestreamed by CBC Edmonton, is set to begin at 11 p.m. MT. The city said viewing locations include Queen Elizabeth Park and Hill, River Valley Road shared pathway, Victoria Park and Ezio Faraone Park. No viewing is available from Kinsmen Park. Fireworks shows will also take place at St. Albert's Meadowview Ball Diamonds, Broadmoor Lake Park in Sherwood Park and Lede Park in Leduc. All shows begin at 11 p.m.
