‘There is no such thing as too raw to eat in India': Foreigner couple praises desi food creativity in viral video

A foreign couple who moved to India sparked an engaging conversation on Instagram with their take on Indian cuisine's use of raw and green ingredients. Guru and Lia shared their amazement at how nothing in India is 'too raw to eat,' highlighting the country's inventive use of unripe foods.

Guru explained that in Indian cuisine, hardly anything is considered too raw to be used in cooking. For example, green mangoes, which are unripe and sour, are commonly preserved and enjoyed as pickles. Similarly, green jackfruit, even when still immature, is cooked as sabzi. He also highlighted the creativity in Indian cooking by mentioning that even flowers can be transformed into delicious pakoras, a popular fried snack. Their Instagram caption summed it up beautifully: 'There is no such thing as too raw to eat in India. When it is a flower, you can make pakora. When it is raw, cook in sabji. When it is ripe, eat as it is. That's so amazing.'
A post shared by Life in India with Guru and Lila (@guru_laila)
The post invited a wave of responses from Indian followers. One user commented, 'As an Indian, I didn't realize that I eat so many things raw. I have been doing it routinely without even realizing it,' with a laughing emoji.
Another user challenged the generalisation, stating, 'Yeah, that's completely wrong and stereotypical to say that. In South India, we don't eat that kind of food here. We have different sambar, spicy dishes, and millet-rich foods. We don't depend only on vegetables or related items. Rice is better here.'
A user noted, 'Wait until you found out that India has the most vegitarian dishes and all are not processed like cheese burger '

Sonali Bendre recalls visiting Babulnath Temple and Siddhivinayak Temple with Coldplay's Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson: ‘She's such a lovely person'

When British singer Chris Martin of Coldplay visited India earlier this year, it wasn't just his music that stole hearts. Alongside Hollywood actress Dakota Johnson , the duo surprised fans by exploring the spiritual side of Mumbai. They were joined by Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre and 'Swades' star Gayatri Oberoi during their quiet yet meaningful visit to some of the city's most iconic temples. Before Coldplay's big concerts at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18 and 19, Chris and Dakota paid a special visit to the Babulnath Temple. Photos and videos of the couple offering prayers along with Sonali and Gayatri quickly went viral, showing them soaking in the spiritual vibe. Sonali recalls taking Dakota and Chris to Mumbai's famous temples In her interview with ANI, Sonali Bendre fondly remembered the moment she was asked to join the group on their spiritual journey. She said, "She's (Dakota) such a lovely person. It was my yoga teacher who told me that, you know what, somebody is coming in and they want to be taken to a few temples. Will you do this? I'm like, okay, who is it? And that's how I get to know. So I think Chris and her (Dakota) wanted to have a temple experience. And I think that's an experience everybody should have at some point. It was lovely. With her (and Chris), we had visited Babulnath Temple. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like NYC Hotel Smartphone Booking | Bookmark Now! | New York City Hotel Booking | Mill Canyon Road Click Here Undo And then the next day, we visited Siddhivinayak Temple." From their dress to their demeanour, Chris and Dakota were seen fully embracing Indian customs. At the Babulnath Temple, they offered prayers, and the next day, the group went to Siddhivinayak Temple, one of Mumbai's most famous religious spots. Dakota wore traditional attire and was seen chatting happily with Sonali and Gayatri as they walked through the temple grounds. Break-up rumours surround Chris and Dakota While their temple visits showed a peaceful side, Chris and Dakota's relationship has been in the news for other reasons. Reports say they have split. A source told PEOPLE magazine, 'It feels final this time.' Neither Chris nor Dakota's teams have commented on this. Earlier in 2024, it was said that the couple had been engaged for years but were not rushing to marry. When rumours of a breakup started in August 2024, Dakota's representative said they were 'happily together.' A source added, 'Sure, they've had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now. They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can.' In June 2024, it was reported they had 'ups and downs, but now they're definitely back on.' So far, Chris and Dakota have not spoken about the recent split rumours. Philippines to offer visa-free entry to Indians from June 8

The Philippines said on Saturday that Indian nationals will be allowed to enter the country without a visa for tourism purposes beginning June 8. The visa-free arrangement is aimed at boosting tourism arrivals from India, which rose 12% in 2024 to nearly 80,000, according to data from the Department of Tourism. Despite the growth, Indian arrivals to the Philippines remain a small portion of the over five million who travelled to Southeast Asia last year. Under the visa-free policy, Indian nationals can enter the Philippines without a visa for up to 14 days. Those holding valid visas or residence permits from the United States, Australia, Canada, Schengen countries, Singapore, or the United Kingdom can stay in the Philippines visa-free for up to 30 days.

Prince Harry recreates a Princess Diana moment with his son Prince Archie at Disneyland

Image credits: X/@lorrainemking It is said that out of all the loves of life, a mother's love remains unforgettable even after she is gone. The nurture and undevoted love that a mother showers her children with beats inside their hearts reminding them of their value and soul. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex went on a trip to Disneyland with their kids, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4. Meghan Markle took to Instagram to share snippets from the fun trip thanking Disneyland for their experience. "Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!" wrote the Duchess in her post where she shared a video of the family enjoying various rides and moments in the magical land. While the trip may have been memorable and special for the young prince and princess, it also marked a special and emotional moment for their father Prince Harry . Harry revisited a chapter from his childhood on the Disneyland trip where he recreated a special memory of his mom with his son. Back in August 1993, eight-year-old Harry accompanied his elder brother Prince William, 11, and mother Princess Diana on a private visit to the Walt Disney World in Florida. The trip marked a rare moment of joy and togetherness for the trio as it was just months after Diana had separated from her husband, Prince Charles. The mother and sons went on an exclusive rise on Splash Mountain where they were escorted through Disney's secret underground tunnels for VIPs, accompanied by close friends and security. The ride was at that moment closed off to other guests. 'They were all very nice, very well-behaved. She was a sweetheart,' said a waiter at Flagler's restaurant (now Citricos) in the Grand Floridian. Image credits: X/@Survivor_MaryNU Now, the family visited Disneyland in Anaheim, California where they went to celebrate Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday. The celebration included a two-tiered birthday cake inspired by The Little Mermaid, possibly the princess' favourite Disney princess. The prince revisited the newly updated Splash Mountain, now known as Tiana's Bayou Adventure since 2024. While he could be seen sitting with Prince Archie, Meghan could be seen with Princess Lilibet. The post featured the family wearing Mickey Mouse ears and also stopping to meet Star Wars stormtroopers and Elsa from Frozen while munching on classic park treats like corn dogs and pickles.
