The recent pattern of dreary spring weather will hang on through most of Monday for Cinco de Mayo around Chicagoland.
But things will turn for the better this week.
Light rain and drizzle continues early Monday around the area, with overcast skies. The clouds may break up a little by the late-day hours, with high temperatures around 60 inland. Northeast winds off Lake Michigan, however, will keep it cooler at the lakefront.
An isolated shower chance remains in the forecast through Monday night into early Tuesday morning, but then the sun comes back Tuesday, with temps warming to around 70 inland.

Daylight continues to lengthen, with the first 8 p.m. or later sunset only days away in Chicagoland!
Normal highs rise from 65 degrees on May 1 to 76 degrees by the end of the month, as we continue to move closer to summer.
That type of warming trend looks to play out this week, with the exception of a mid-week dip. The early forecast for Mother's Day weekend then shows pleasant spring weather, with high temps in the low 70s.

One more round of storms to go

After weeks of relentless rain and storms, many are understandably ready for a break. Thankfully, just one more round of active weather stands between us and a stretch of quiet, sunny days. With moisture still trapped in the soil, patchy fog may develop early Sunday morning. However, skies will quickly clear, giving way to sunshine and temperatures rising into the 80s, accompanied by a light westerly breeze. Later in the afternoon and into the early evening, a cold front will move through the Ozarks, triggering another round of thunderstorms. These storms may bring large hail, damaging winds, and heavy downpours. Once this final wave of storms passes, a welcome stretch of dry, sunny weather is expected. Highs in the 80s and mostly sunny skies are forecast for Monday through Wednesday. For farmers looking to cut and bale hay, this could be the window you've been waiting for. That said, a few showers may return late Thursday, with additional rain chances possible to close out the week. Download our KOLR 10 weather app Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Few storms possible

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Another warm and humid night expected across the area. Temperatures will slowly fall to the low to mid 70s by sunrise Sunday morning. A line of thunderstorms will approach the Pee Dee right before midnight. We could see a few strong storms. Once the line reaches the Interstate 95 area, storms will weaken. A few clouds and maybe a surviving shower by Sunday morning. Sunday will feature another day of high heat and humidity. We will see partly cloudy skies. As the line of storms weakened, that will set up new boundaries that storms can form on Sunday afternoon. The sea breeze will help aid in the development as well. So watch for a few strong to severe storms possible Sunday afternoon. Highs will be in the low 90s, heat index values pushing 100. The rest of the week will continue to show daily thunderstorm threats, high heat and humidity. A very typical summer time pattern is setting up. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
