Reds place OF Jake Fraley on IL, activate OF/IB Connor Joe
May 10 - The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Jake Fraley on the injured list with left-calf tenderness and activated newly acquired outfielder/first baseman Connor Joe from the IL.
Fraley, 29, is batting .205 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 28 games this season. In seven seasons with the Seattle Mariners (2019-21) and Reds, he is a career .246 hitter with 44 home runs and 165 RBIs in 420 games.
Joe, 32, was acquired in a trade from the San Diego Padres on Friday while he was at Triple-A El Paso. He played just seven games in his first season with his hometown Padres, going hitless in nine at-bats. He was batting .267 in 16 games at El Paso.
In six major league seasons with four different clubs, Joe is a career .241 hitter with 35 home runs and 141 RBIs in 445 games.

Giants place C Patrick Bailey (neck strain) on 10-day IL
June 11 - The San Francisco Giants placed catcher Patrick Bailey on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday because of a neck strain and selected the contract of catcher Logan Porter from Triple-A Sacramento. Bailey's move was retroactive to Sunday. Bailey, who turned 26 on May 29, last played on Saturday, going 0-for-3 in a 3-2 home win over the Atlanta Braves. He is batting .185 (30-for-162) with one home run and 16 RBIs in 56 games. For his career, Bailey is batting .225 with 16 homers and 110 RBIs in 274 games since making his major league debut in May 2023. The Giants selected Bailey 13th overall in the 2020 MLB Draft out of North Carolina State. Porter, 29, played in 11 games in 2023 for the Kansas City Royals and batted .194 (6-for-31) with one homer and three RBIs. San Francisco originally purchased Porter from the Royals in June 2024 and released him the next month. He signed with the New York Mets, and became a free agent in November, when the Giants signed him. The Giants also designated shortstop Osleivis Basabe for assignment. Basabe was on the 40-man roster but had not appeared in an MLB game since 2023 while with the Tampa Bay Rays.
