Jersey RNLI and fire service in joint coastal water rescue
A person has been rescued from the water off Jersey's north east coast on Sunday afternoon, the RNLI has said. Jersey RNLI said its St Catherine's inshore lifeboat was tasked to the incident in the water at Rozel, alongside a Jersey Fire and Rescue Service lifeboat. It said the fire service arrived at the scene first and recovered the casualty from the water, with another person from the vessel already on the fire service's lifeboat.The casualty and the other person were later transferred back to their yacht, in what the fire service described as "teamwork".
"At the point where the St Catherine's crew arrived on scene, the fire and rescue service lifeboat had recovered the casualty from the water and had two persons on board," Jersey RNLI added."The swell was making it difficult to transfer them back to their yacht. "So the casualties were transferred on to the RNLI lifeboat which provided a more elevated and stable platform to onward transfer onto their yacht."

By Wednesday, the day of Robert's big return - and despite ITV axing the episode from its streaming service ITVX in an effort to get people to watch the TV broadcast - just over 3m tuned in with the show losing viewers. Worst still - the next night that continued Robert's return saw a further 600,000 viewers switch off. In contrast the first edition after Robert was returned to prison, the following Monday's episode rebounded to 3.1m. A source said: 'It's not ideal for such a big moment to not pull in the numbers. 'Bosses expected a great deal of excitement from fans about Robert's return but it doesn't seem to have transferred into actual ratings. 'The so-called Robron coupling was seen as a previous heyday for the show to tap into - but the reality appears to be quite different. 'With all the cuts ITV is having to make, people will be wondering if his return is worth it.' Actor Ryan, who quit the show in 2019, recently revealed he had been struggling for work during his six year absence from the show. The ITV soaps both suffered a blow at this year's British Soap Awards with Emmerdale winning just two awards and Coronation Street on compared to EastEnders' eight and Hollyoaks' three.

Jersey sporting experiences sought to improve plans
People have been encouraged to share key issues they have experienced in the sports sector for a States of Jersey scrutiny part of the hearing into the provision of sports in the island, Minister for Infrastructure Constable Andy Jehan will be questioned about the performance pathways available to top follows plans to redevelop Fort Regent, a leisure centre in St Helier, and the transfer of sports groups and organisations to other facilities across the island, the States chairman Deputy Montfort Tadier said "concerns had been raised" about long-term plans for the venue. Tadier said: "Since the government revealed its plans for the future of Fort Regent, there has been a lot of public and social discussion about the impact its closure will have on the clubs and organisations which currently use it. "While the government has outlined plans to transfer many of these [clubs] to other facilities across the island, concerns have been raised by some about the suitability of the chosen venues and the long-term plans."Tadier said it was important sports clubs had appropriate infrastructure, support and funding regardless of whether they were at "grassroots level or supporting top athletes".A pop-up event is set to take place in St Helier on Friday so people can share their views. The scrutiny hearing will take place on 12 June 2025.

Fawn rescued in Southampton after getting trapped in metal fence
Firefighters rescued a fawn that got stuck in a metal fence in and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said a crew helped the young deer whose hip had got stuck in the fence in Vermont Close at about 16:00 BST on 26 May.A force spokesperson said the "fawn was on the fence about which way to go" but was quickly freed after a crew used a hydraulic spreader to bend the fawn's mother was waiting nearby and the spokesperson said she had "deer-ly missed [it]" while stuck.
