Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in the preseason Associated Press poll, which was released Aug. 11. The Buckeyes received 1,472 points, including 11 first-place votes, after winning the College Football Playoff last year. Ohio State opens the season against Texas at Ohio Stadium on Aug. 30. The Longhorns are ranked No. 1 with 1,552 points and 25 first-place votes. Ohio State was No. 2 in the US LBM coaches poll released last week. The Buckeyes have been ranked in the AP preseason poll each of the last 37 straight years, which is 11 years longer than any other program in the country and is also the longest such streak in Associated Press history.
