"And that's down to the club to make sure they get that right and it's down to us players to make sure that we are the ones that are involved."
Maguire deputised for captain Bruno Fernandes in the post-season friendly defeat to ASEAN All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur.
And it is a job he could take on full-time with Fernandes subject to a transfer bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
His agent reportedly held "productive talks" over the move, which could see United receive £100million for their talisman.

Simone Inzaghi still tells his kids about Celtic as 'special' Hoops leave both Champions League Final managers stunned
Both managers in tonight's showpiece final have had plenty of nice words to say about Celtic It's a Champions League Final for the ages in Munich – but if you listen to both managers, they might rather it was taking place at Celtic Park. Simone Inzaghi's Inter take on Luis Enrique's PSG at the Allianz Arena as two of Europe's best sides officially bring the curtain down on season 2024/25. The Italians dumped Enrique's former team Barcelona in one of the all-time great semi-finals while French champions PSG sweeped three of the Premier League's best in Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal to reach this stage. It wasn't so long ago though that each of them were sitting in the dugout at Parkhead. Back in 2016, Enrique brought his Barca side to Glasgow for a Champions League clash and they were confident – having put seven past the Hoops in Spain. The damage this time wasn't as devastating, a Lionel Messi double the extent of it as Barca picked up a comfortable 2-0 win. Speaking ahead of it, Enrique said: Luis Enrique: 'It will be special because they are a great club with a spectacular atmosphere and we must enjoy it to the fullest and give the best possible account of ourselves. "We will be happy to go to one of the best stadiums in Europe in terms of atmosphere knowing that their fans will have a great sporting image and offer their full support to the team.' Inzaghi was even more gushing in 2019 when his Lazio side were gunned down in the Europa League. And speaking after the game when Christopher Jullien's goal gave Celtic a late 2-1 win, he couldn't have been more effusive in his praise. The gushing boss said: "The Celtic game is a match I will be telling my children about for many years. In fact, I actually brought my oldest child with me because I knew how good it would be. "Yes, we lost to Celtic, but they are a quality team who play at a very high pace and to a very good standard. There's nothing to be ashamed of." Man Utd tipped for audacious Caoimhin Kelleher transfer from arch-rivals Liverpool to replace Andre Onana
The world's best keeper is the favourite to replace Onana IN FOR THE KELL IN FOR THE KELL Man Utd tipped for audacious Caoimhin Kelleher transfer from arch-rivals Liverpool to replace Andre Onana LIVERPOOL goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been tipped for a shock move to fierce rivals Manchester United. United's goalkeeper crisis means they could look to sell Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and release Tom Heaton this summer. 1 Caoimhin Kelleher has been tipped for a shock move to arch rivals Manchester United Onana and No 2 stopper Bayindir are both prone to howlers, with United eyeing a complete reset. Meanwhile Kelleher, capped 22 times for Ireland already, is understood to want to compete for regular minutes. Kelleher secured his second Premier League title with Liverpool this season but only started 10 games with Alisson ahead of him in the pecking order. Prominent United reporter at ESPN Mark Ogden has put Kelleher on his shortlist of potential goalkeepers to replace Onana. Ogden said: "Kelleher wants to move, he wants to play football. "It would be good deal at such a low price to get someone with proven experience in English football." Liverpool value the 26-year-old in excess of £20million, with Brentford also interested. The champions have only been open to selling him since securing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia last summer. SunSport exclusively revealed that Martinez, twice voted Best Goalkeeper in the world, is reportedly up for the challenge. Ruben Amorim bursts out laughing when asked about Man Utd star's future Martinez, 32, fuelled speculation when he broke down in tears and took a bow in front of the Holte End after Villa's final home game of the season. The World Cup winner's contract runs until 2029 but a bid of £40million or more would ease Villa's PSR concerns.

Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres transfer bid suffers setback as champions join chase
Viktor Gyokeres is set to be one of the most sought-after players in football this summer as Arsenal and Manchester United chase his signature, but now Napoli have joined the race to sign the Swedish hitman Italian champions Napoli are ready to battle it out with Arsenal for Sporting Lisbon's £67million-rated striker Viktor Gyokeres. Coach Antonio Conte has told the club to make a move for the 26-year-old former Brighton, Swansea and Coventry forward, who has transformed himself into one of Europe's most prolific goalscorer. Conte is in a position of strength after leading Napoli to the serie A title and then turning down an approach from Juventus for his services. He wants Gyokeres to lead his attack in the Champions League next season. Napoli could now take advantage of Arsenal's indecision on whether to pursue the Swedish International or RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners are finally ready to arm manager Mikel Arteta with a proven goalscorer after finishing second in the Premier League for three seasons in succession. And with reports that the London club are leaning towards Slovakian forward Sesko, that has opened up a window of opportunity for others when it comes to Gyokeres. Sporting made it clear this week that they will not accept anything less than their £67million valuation for a player who scored an incredible 57 goals in 49 games this season for club and country. Conte already has Romelu Lukaku as a quality forward option in Naples. The former Chelsea star netted 14 times in the Italian top flight and was their top scorer, but the Belgian needs more competition up front. Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is also a huge admirer of Gyokeres after working with him in Portugal. United would need to sell players first to come up with the cash - which is why the £100million interest from the Saudi Pro League in Bruno Fernandes has caused such a stir at Old Trafford. United legend has already urged his old club to take the money if they receive a bid in that region, knowing it could help the Red Devils add a few more signings amid their financial restrictions. The club are desperate for more forward options after watching Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund score seven Premier League goals between them this season. United were hoping to lure Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap to Old Trafford this summer, but he has snubbed them in favour of joining Chelsea.
