Simone Inzaghi still tells his kids about Celtic as 'special' Hoops leave both Champions League Final managers stunned
Both managers in tonight's showpiece final have had plenty of nice words to say about Celtic
It's a Champions League Final for the ages in Munich – but if you listen to both managers, they might rather it was taking place at Celtic Park.
Simone Inzaghi's Inter take on Luis Enrique's PSG at the Allianz Arena as two of Europe's best sides officially bring the curtain down on season 2024/25.
The Italians dumped Enrique's former team Barcelona in one of the all-time great semi-finals while French champions PSG sweeped three of the Premier League's best in Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal to reach this stage.
It wasn't so long ago though that each of them were sitting in the dugout at Parkhead.
Back in 2016, Enrique brought his Barca side to Glasgow for a Champions League clash and they were confident – having put seven past the Hoops in Spain.
The damage this time wasn't as devastating, a Lionel Messi double the extent of it as Barca picked up a comfortable 2-0 win.
Speaking ahead of it, Enrique said: Luis Enrique: 'It will be special because they are a great club with a spectacular atmosphere and we must enjoy it to the fullest and give the best possible account of ourselves.
"We will be happy to go to one of the best stadiums in Europe in terms of atmosphere knowing that their fans will have a great sporting image and offer their full support to the team.'
Inzaghi was even more gushing in 2019 when his Lazio side were gunned down in the Europa League.
And speaking after the game when Christopher Jullien's goal gave Celtic a late 2-1 win, he couldn't have been more effusive in his praise.
The gushing boss said: "The Celtic game is a match I will be telling my children about for many years. In fact, I actually brought my oldest child with me because I knew how good it would be.
"Yes, we lost to Celtic, but they are a quality team who play at a very high pace and to a very good standard. There's nothing to be ashamed of."

Liverpool 'formal bid' imminent for signing after Wirtz as four players wanted
Liverpool have enjoyed a fast start in the transfer window and look set for a busy summer injecting new talent into head coach Arne Slot's squad ahead of next season Liverpool may have just won the Premier League title but they are not resting on their laurels. The Reds have already completed one signing and are well on their way to another with the transfer window only having opened a day ago. Jeremie Frimpong has been added to Arne Slot's ranks following Trent Alexander-Arnold's exit. Florian Wirtz is set to be the next Reds deal to get over the line in the coming days. But the business may not end their with the future of Caoimhin Kelleher to resolve amid the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashbvili. Ibrahima Konate will soon enter the final year of his contract too with a decision to be made if Liverpool do not want a repeat of what happened last season with Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold. There is no shortage of speculation over Luis Diaz's future too. Interest from Saudi Arabia has arrived in addition to Barcelona for the Liverpool winger. Joao Pedro fee Brighton are reportedly willing to cash in on striker Joao Pedro if they receive a bid worth £70million. The 23-year-old is said to be drawing interest from Newcastle, Liverpool and Aston Villa Pedro's reputation has continued to rise since joining Brighton from Watford in 2023, netting 30 goals in 70 appearances across all competitions for the Seagulls. According to reports, Brighton are open to selling Pedro but they will remain firm on their asking price. The forward is under contract until 2028, meaning Brighton are under no pressure to sell, though Pedro was at the centre of some controversy last season. The Brazilian was dropped by manager Fabian Hurzeler following a bust up with teammate Jan Paul van Hecke in the latter stages of the campaign. Liverpool bid for Kerkez incoming A Liverpool bid for Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez is expected in the coming days, according to reports. The Cherries want more than £40m for the full-back who has spent two seasons at the Vitality Stadium. The Hungary international is said to have already agreed to the move to Anfield. The 21-year-old is keen to challenge himself at a higher level and could soon compete with Andy Robertson for a place in Arne Slot's starting lineup. Reds' transfer plan With a deal for Florian Wirtz approaching, there's little sign of Liverpool's work in the transfer market being done. The Reds still plan to bring as many as four players in this summer. Sky Sports report that Liverpool want to bring a new forward, with Hugo Ekitike on the club's list. The Reds are also preparing a move to secure a deal with Bournemouth for Milos Kerkez. Two more signings are also being eyed, but are claimed to be less pressing for the club. Liverpool want to land a young centre-back and a defensive midfielder to bolster their options.
