Former Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi sees speeding charges thrown out
Court papers stated Furuhashi drove at 44 miles per hour in a 30-limit zone during the first alleged matter.
He was then accused of driving at 43 miles per hour on the same road the next day.

Lastly, Furuhashi was said to have gone at the same speed four days later.
Furuhashi, who is now with French outfit Rennes, was initially on the rolls for a hearing at Glasgow's Justice of the Peace court. Furuhashi himself was not present.
However, prosecutors decided to treat the matter as "not called."
A Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service spokesperson said: "The Procurator Fiscal received a report relating to a 29-year-old male and an incident said to have occurred on 03 October 2024.
'After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the Procurator Fiscal decided that there should be no further proceedings at this time.
"The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available."

The family, believed to be from Eritrea, finally recovered enough to declare they would try again to clamber on to the estimated £1,200-a-spot 'taxi' to Britain. Just feet away were the cops, watching with binoculars. They wore riot helmets and some carried shields and pepper spray. Asked why they would not intervene when it was clearly so perilous, one officer simply told The Sun: 'It's difficult.' The boat had been launched just before 5am further up the coast, and arrived to pick up the migrants. A waiting crowd then ran out from the sand dunes. French law enforcement have long said it is too risky to act once the boat is in the water — meaning the officers merely watched as the danger unfolded before missing the chance to arrest one of the smugglers. The Sun saw the boat turn up. First a large group of men scrambled aboard, followed by women and families with children. One man appeared barely able to keep his head above water, as he desperately reached from the sea towards the dinghy. One cop kept an eye on the inflatable dinghy while four others stood chatting behind him. Another began filming the incident on his phone, while a pal inhaled from a vape. At one stage it appeared the boat was overloaded, with its engine either broken or not powerful enough. But it eventually set off, leaving a group of around ten people without a place. It momentarily paused, giving the desperate migrants a glimmer of hope, but by then the water was already too deep. MAKESHIFT CAMP A suspected smuggler who had steered the boat leapt out and made it to shore — leaving the passengers to negotiate the treacherous crossing alone. He took the group who had missed out back to their makeshift camp, but the police had already left the scene. He became aggressive when approached by The Sun. The family who came close to drowning stayed silent when asked how they were and why they were prepared to take young children on the crossing. They also did not respond when asked if they realised how dangerous the crossing was. The two dinghies carried an estimated total of 150 migrants. Photographs from Dover later showed many in life jackets being brought ashore after being intercepted by a UK Border Force patrol. It is unclear if these were the same migrants we saw, or others who set off elsewhere from the France. More than 15,000 people have illegally crossed the Channel this year, figures compiled by the Tories showed. This breaks last year's record of 13,489 arrivals in the first six months. There have also been ten migrant deaths in the Channel this year. Britain is paying France £476million for a deal which is supposed to see border commanders in Calais prevent crossings. But police routinely refuse to do anything once migrants are in the sea. The Sun on Sunday last week told how French police union boss Fabien Vanhemelryck had been branded a hypocrite. 'HYPOCRITE' UNION BOSS It emerged he had called migrants 'scum' and a 'pain' — yet was leading the charge against officers having to intervene. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP slammed a 'total loss of border control'. He added: '2025 is the worst year ever for small boat crossings so far. While traffickers and criminal gangs rake in millions, Labour Ministers stand in Westminster rehearsing soundbites.' The Home Office said: 'We have returned nearly 30,000 people with no right to be here and have driven up illegal working arrests by 42 per cent. 'We know more needs to be done with the French to build upon the 10,000 crossing attempts that we have stopped this year, and we are strengthening our cooperation to do this.' They added of the Tory plan to process asylum seekers in a third country: 'The Rwanda plan was not a deterrent. It did not lead to one person being forcibly removed and cost the taxpayer £700million.'

Ex-footballer, 40, rushed to hospital with serious stab wounds - but neighbours label police account of attempted suicide 'completely FALSE'
Former Ligue 1 footballer Daniel Congre was hospitalised after reportedly being found with serious stab wounds close to his heart. Congre, who played for Toulouse, Montpellier and Dijon during his career, was rushed to hospital after suffering the injury on Monday evening. His wife had called the emergency services, with initial reports stating the 40-year-old had been found unconscious at their home in the town of Perols. French newspaper L'Equipe reported that Congre, who is now a sports coordinator at Ligue 1 club Lyon, had actually been conscious when emergency services arrived. The newspaper quoted the emergency response as mentioning 'a knife deliberately planted in the heart' in their report of the incident. The Montpellier prosecutor's office officially mentioned a 'suicide attempt', although Congre was not officially named. An investigation is ongoing. 'The victim's life is not in danger,' a police source told L'Equipe. 'The intervention of a third party seems to be excluded. 'We are awaiting the doctors' conclusions regarding the nature of the injury and its severity.' The defender, his wife and children had reportedly visited their neighbours on Monday ahead of the incident. Their neighbour, speaking to L'Equipe, insisted the claim of a suicide attempt was 'completely false'. 'Everyone is fine, they were at my house last night (Monday night), Daniel , his wife, and his children. 'Everything that has been said is completely false, I won't tell you anything more. 'He was hospitalised, but not for the reasons given.' Lyon have yet to publicly comment on Congre's hospitalisation following the request of his family. Congre officially joined Lyon as a sports coordinator last November, shorty after his retirement. The former defender is best known for his time at Montpellier, where he made 325 appearances in all competitions. He also made 227 appearances for Toulouse.

Migrants cross English Channel ahead of spending review announcement
Migrants have arrived in the UK after crossing the English Channel as Chancellor Rachel Reeves is set to unveil her spending review. Pictures show new arrivals wearing life jackets being brought to shore in a Border Force boat in Dover, Kent, on Wednesday. They are the first to make the journey to the UK so far this month after a record first five months of the year bringing the provisional total so far to 14,812 arrivals. This has also surpassed the highest total recorded for the first six months of the year, which was previously 13,489 on June 30 last year. In 2024, the number of arrivals did not reach more than 14,000 until July 9 (14,058). The arrivals come as the Chancellor will set out spending plans for the coming years, with big rises expected for the NHS, defence and schools. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper was the last minister to reach a deal with the Treasury, with reports suggesting greater police spending would mean a squeeze on other areas of her department's budget. But the Home Office will also receive a £680 million cash boost for border security, according to the Sun newspaper. The paper reported Ms Cooper has gained £100 million to spend on tackling illegal migration this year and a further £580 million over the next three years for border police and surveillance, including more drones. The Government has vowed to crack down on people-smuggling and Channel crossings since coming to power in July last year. This includes by funding elite officers to increase patrols along the northern French coastline and launching a specialist intelligence unit in Dunkirk to track down people smugglers. It has also established a Border Security Command to lead strategy and its Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill, currently going through Parliament, seeks to introduce new criminal offences and hand counter terror-style powers to law enforcement agencies to target smuggling gangs.
