Sony Pushes ‘Legend of Zelda' Live-Action Movie to May 2027 Release
Sony has delayed the theatrical release of its live-action video game adaptation Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027.
The nudge from the earlier March 26, 2027 released date appears to be for production reasons. Sony is distributing the film that hails from Nintendo and Avi Arad's Arad Productions. Nintendo representative director and fellow Shigeru Miyamoto produces the feature alongside Arad.

Miyamoto on Monday took to Twitter to explain the film needed a few more weeks in the hothouse to complete. 'This is Miyamoto. For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it,' he explained.
Wes Ball, who helmed last year's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is directing the feature, which adapts the Nintendo gaming franchise of the same name that launched in 1986. The fantasy-inspired game series centers on the young Link and Princess Zelda, who attempt to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the evil Ganon.
Zelda was to have competed against Warner Bros. and Legendary's next film in the Godzilla x Kong franchise that also hits theaters on March 26, 2027. Additionally, Paramount's fourth film in its Sonic the Hedgehog franchise that adapts the video game series of the same name is set for theatrical release the week prior.

Days Gone Studio Hit With Mass Layoff After Live Service PlayStation Game Canceled
Days Gone maker Bend Studio has been hit by layoffs. Roughly a third of the first-party PlayStation team was cut following the recent cancelation of an unannounced live service project, but Sony confirmed the studio is working on a new project now and it remains 'confident in its future and creative direction.' 'Earlier this year, Bend Studio wrapped development on a live service concept. After careful consideration, we chose not to move forward with it,' a spokesperson for Sony confirmed to Kotaku in an email. 'As the team shifts focus to its next project, we've made strategic changes to better position the studio for long-term success. As part of this transition, a workforce reduction has taken place at the studio. This decision was not made lightly, and we are extremely grateful for the meaningful contributions of all those impacted. Bend Studio has been a valued part of PlayStation Studios for decades, and we remain confident in its future and creative direction.' About 40 developers at the Oregon-based studio were laid today, as first reported by Bloomberg. The project they were previously working on was canceled earlier this year amid a purge of some internal live service projects, including an online God of War spin-off at Bluepoint Games. 'Bend Studio laid off a bunch of people today,' senior animator Robert Morrison posted on X. 'I was a part of the layoffs. I did my best. Hopefully I can find a new team to join.' Best known for the Syphon Filter espionage games in the PS1 and PS2 eras, Bend Studio later moved on to developing handheld ports of first-party franchises like Resistance and Uncharted before eventually making 2019's open world zombie blockbuster Days Gone. The game didn't review as highly as some PlayStation exclusives but still sold well. While fans pined for a sequel, the studio hasn't released a game since. Days Gone received a PS5 version earlier this year but has otherwise laid dormant as Bend Studio reportedly worked on a new live service IP. Leaked images made it appear like the now canceled game was an online multiplayer loot shooter of sorts, though no official details about the project were ever shared publicly. The Bend Studio cuts are the latest self-inflicted wound of a PS5 generation live service pivot that's left Sony conspicuously short on big first-party blockbusters. Live service spin-offs of Twisted Metal and The Last of Us were also canceled, while Concord's launch went so poorly the company refunded the game and shutdown the studio behind it which had acquired just a couple years prior. Another upcoming online shooter, Fairgame$, was recently delayed according to Bloomberg after it received negative feedback from external testing. That studio's head, Jade Raymond, departed around the same time. Update 6/10/2025 5:06 p.m. ET: Added statement from Sony. . For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Pierce Brosnan Gives Update on Possible 'Remington Steele' Reboot
Folks who were around in the 1980s likely remember Remington Steele, the detective series featuring Pierce Brosnan as a private detective. The series, which ran from 1982 to 1987, likely helped set the stage for Brosnan's later emergence as James Bond. It certainly was a highlight of his early career. In Remington Steele, Brosnan played a suave former con man turned detective. And now Brosnan has revealed that a Remington Steele reboot has been kicked around. However, don't hold your breath as it seems far from certain. In a lengthy interview with The Hollywood Reporter on June 2, Brosnan was asked about the possibility of a Remington Steele reboot. The author asked Brosnan, "As studios and networks are now keen on revivals, have you ever given thought to or been approached by execs for a Remington Steele revival?" "They have brought it up in discussions, yes. Nothing's been done about it. So I've left it's (sic) just sitting there," he said to THR. According to Britannica, in 1986, with Remington Steele a success, Brosnan was chosen to take over the iconic Bond role from Roger Moore. However, his NBC contract "prevented him from accepting," so the role went to Timothy Dalton instead. The next year, though, Remington Steele ended. Brosnan would later get to play Bond. A return of Remington Steele would certainly be nostalgic for some fans. Brosnan starred in the show with actress Stephanie Zimbalist. She sometimes posts about the series on her Instagram page. According to Irish America, Remington Steele first made Brosnan, now starring in Mobland, a "household name."Pierce Brosnan Gives Update on Possible 'Remington Steele' Reboot first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 10, 2025

Sydney Sweeney Gained 30 Pounds for 'Crazy' Christy Martin Biopic Transformation
Sydney Sweeney is revealing the details of her 'crazy' body transformation to play professional boxer Christy Martin. During a Monday profile with W Magazine, the Euphoria actress opened up about the rigorous training schedule she endured to portray the boxer. Sweeney went through three and a half months of training, which resulted in her gaining over 30 pounds for the role. More from The Hollywood Reporter Kansas City Chiefs' Foolish Club Studios Sets Executive Team (Exclusive) Whoopi Goldberg Co-Founded All Women's Sports Network, Pluto TV Launch FAST Channel Coco Gauff vs. Aryna Sabalenka: How to Stream the French Open Women's Final Online for Free 'I came onboard to play Christy, and I had about three and a half months of training,' she said. 'I started eating. I weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kickboxed midday for about two hours, and then weight-trained again at night for an hour.' Sweeney admitted that 'my body was completely different' because of all the training, which led to her not being able to 'fit in any of my clothes.' 'I'm usually a size 23 in jeans, and I was wearing a size 27,' Sweeney recounted. 'My boobs got bigger. And my butt got huge. It was crazy! I was like, 'Oh my God.'' Still, the Emmy nominee didn't mind the shift in physical appearance. 'It was amazing: I was so strong, like crazy strong,' she added. Sweeney confirmed she was starring in the forthcoming Martin biopic in October of last year 'thanks to some paps in bushes,' she wrote on Instagram at the time. When announcing the news, she shared a photo of herself as Martin, sporting brown curly hair and toned arms. Martin is regarded as one of the most prolific female boxers of all time, beginning her career in 1989 before she retired in 2012. She won the WBC female super welterweight world champion title in 2009 and is the only female boxer to cover Sports Illustrated. Martin nearly died in 2010 when her husband, Jim Martin, stabbed her and shot her in the chest. After surviving the murder attempt, Jim was sentenced to 25 years in prison. 'Over the past few months, I've been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman — a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring,' Sweeney wrote. 'Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I'm honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. More to come soon.'
