
Lindsay Custodio files anti-VAWC case against estranged husband
Lindsay Custodio has filed a case under the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (Republic Act No. 9262) against her estranged husband, Frederick Cale.
This was confirmed by Custodio's legal counsel, Atty. Hazel Meking, in a video statement sent to GMA News Online on Monday.
'Kinompirma natin na na-file na kanina [ni Lindsay] ang kasong Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children laban sa kanyang estranged husband,' Meking said in the video.
[We confirm that Lindsay has officially filed a case under the Anti-VAWC law against her estranged husband.]
According to the lawyer, it was only recently that Custodio fully understood the extent of the alleged abuse she had endured during their relationship.
'So, ngayon na-file na natin at inaasahan natin na makakakuha tayo ng hustisya para sa kanya dahil grabe ang trauma at ang depresyon at ang psychiatric medication niya na dinanas dito,' Meking said.
[We have filed the case, and we are hoping to get justice because she went through severe trauma, depression, and had to take psychiatric medication because of her experience.]
According to Meking, Lindsay allegedly suffered sexual abuse, psychological abuse, as well as verbal, emotional, and economic abuse.
In March, Boy Abunda on 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda' that Custodio had traveled to Cebu in connection to a cyber libel complaint filed against her by Cale.

Senate OKs anti-POGO bill on second reading
The Senate approved on second reading a bill banning Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) in the country. Senate Bill 2868 or the Anti-POGO Bill, declared offshore gaming operations in the Philippines as unlawful. Truck driver in fatal Batasan-San Mateo road crash tests positive for illegal drugs
The truck driver in the fatal road incident on Batasan-San Mateo Road in May has tested positive for illegal drugs, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said Wednesday. In a statement, the QCPD said the truck driver, identified as alias 'Eruel,' was subjected to an alcohol breath analyzer (ABA) and drug tests in accordance with the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013. 'The ABA test conducted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) yielded a negative result,' the QCPD said. 'However, the drug test conducted by the QCPD Forensic Unit (QCPDFU) returned a positive result for methamphetamine hydrochloride (commonly known as 'shabu'),' it added. The QCPD also conducted a thorough inspection of his 10-wheeler truck that was involved in the incident, but no illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia were found. 'Eruel' will face complaints for the violation of the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013, according to the police. 'This case serves as a clear warning to those who drive under the influence of illegal drugs, you will be held fully accountable under the law,' QCPD deputy director for administration Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvio said. 'At mabigat po ang parusa dito ayon sa batas, reclusion temporal o mahigit 12 years to 20 years maximum na pagkakakulong at may multang P300,000 to P500,000 pag namatay ang biktima," he added. (The punishment here is severe according to the law, reclusion temporal or more than 12 years to 20 years maximum imprisonment and a fine of P300,000 to P500,000 if the victim dies.) Three people died after the truck plowed into several vehicles along the Batasan-San Mateo Road in Quezon City on May 28.
