Saudi Arabia's Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Saleh Al-Jasser, has concluded an official visit to Italy, accompanied by a delegation representing the Kingdom's transport and logistics sectors. The visit was aimed at strengthening economic ties and expanding investment cooperation between the two nations.
Al-Jasser led the Saudi delegation during a Saudi-Italian roundtable that brought together key figures from both government and private sectors. Discussions centered on advancing partnerships and exploring investment prospects aligned with Saudi Arabia's National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
Throughout the visit, the minister held meetings with public and private sector leaders to foster collaboration in the fields of transport and logistics and to deepen bilateral economic relations. He also toured Italian companies and government institutions specializing in luxury rail systems and smart road technologies, where he examined cutting-edge innovations and discussed potential areas of collaboration.
The trip aimed to create new avenues for economic growth and development while encouraging Italian private-sector firms to seize emerging opportunities through increased foreign direct investment in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia announced that over 1.5 million pilgrims from outside the Kingdom have arrived to perform Hajj this year. Ghassan Al-Naqmi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, shared the approximate number of foreign pilgrims, without disclosing the number of domestic pilgrims. Meanwhile, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, reviewed the readiness of the Special Emergency Forces participating in this year's Hajj security operations. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he received a briefing from Lt. Gen. Mohammed bin Maqbool Al-Omari, commander of the Special Emergency Forces, who detailed the force's role in crowd control and the organized stoning ritual at the Jamarat site, as well as their broader mission in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of pilgrims. Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a phone call on Thursday with the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres. During the call, they reviewed the ongoing preparations for the high-level international conference for the peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and the implementation of the two-state solution. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments. Saudi Arabia and France will co-host the conference which will be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York city on June 17 – 20. French President Emmanuel Macron announced earlier that he and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will co-chair the conference.

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) held a virtual meeting with the World Trade Organization (WTO) to discuss preparations for the second edition of the Regional Trade Policy Course (RTPC), scheduled to take place in the Kingdom in 2025. Deputy Governor for Shared Services Nasser Al-Dughaither, represented GAFT in the meeting. The meeting, included GAFT's Director General of Human Resources Hamoud Al-Malki and Director of Talent and Development Badr Al-Ajlan, focused on enhancing cooperation to organize the RTPC, improving the course's quality and outcomes, and developing specialized workshops for stakeholders involved in trade negotiations. These efforts aim to deepen participants' understanding of WTO agreements, rules, and procedures. Al-Dughaither emphasized that Saudi Arabia's three-year hosting of the RTPC reflects its global economic leadership, particularly in the Middle East, and aligns with national goals to empower regional trade policymakers and elevate their capacity to meet international trade standards. He expressed optimism about the upcoming edition, building on the success of the previous course, which featured robust scientific content and active participant engagement. The first edition of the RTPC was hosted in Saudi Arabia from October 13 to December 5, 2024, in partnership with King Saud University and the WTO. It saw participation from around 25 government officials representing nine countries, along with 12 Saudi government entities, covering over 24 training topics.
