Stanford WR Emmett Mosley V sets visit with Longhorns after entering transfer portal With a spot open at WR, the Longhorns are hosting former Stanford star Emmett Mosley V
After losing wide receiver Freddie Dubose in the transfer portal, the Texas Longhorns have been busy looking for his replacement and may be close to finding a solution. The Longhorns are hosting former Stanford wide receiver Emmett Mosley V for a visit on Friday. He entered the transfer portal earlier this week.
Before choosing to go to Stanford, Mosely V was a three-star recruit in the 2024 class. He received offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, USC, Georgia, LSU, and Penn State. He will now be looking to join a program where he could be more involved in the passing game.
During his freshman year, the former Cardinal made the most of his opportunities. He hauled in 48 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns. Mosley V's best performance came against No. 19 Louisville, where he finished with 13 catches for 168 yards and three touchdowns.
While the Longhorns have plenty of weapons, wide receiver is an area they want to add to. On Tuesday, head coach Steve Sarkisian highlighted that position when speaking with the media.
"Naturally, there are a couple of positions depth-wise where we're not where we need to be right now," Sarkisian said. "We'll look at the portal that way. Our numbers are down at receiver right now from a scholarship standpoint. Our numbers are down on the defensive line from where our numbers really should be. And our number's really down at tight end. It's not a secret that we'll look to the portal, but I don't want to take a guy just for a number."
Over the last few years, Texas has been a popular destination for wide receivers. Transfer receivers like Adonai Mitchell and Matthew Golden have gone one-and-done at Texas and boosted their stock leading up to the NFL Draft. As Mosley V narrows his list, the Longhorns will be one of the top programs involved.

Mwenentanda eager for opportunity with Vanderbilt
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda is a former Washington high school standout, who just made a run to the Final Four with Texas. Now, she's on the move to another SEC School. Ndjakalenga played three season with the Texas Longhorns, appearing in 37 games this past year as a junior. She started in 15 games, including the Final Four contest against South Carolina. 'I love Texas and I got what I needed out of Texas. I got my degree,' Mwenentanda said. 'I just wanted something different.' Mwenentanda entered the transfer portal following her junior season. 35 teams reached out to her, but she had to picky, knowing she has just one year of eligibility left. 'Being a part of some rebuilding process wouldn't have allowed me enough time. I had to look at the options that were the best fit for me, as far as teams that were a little bit more established,' Mwenentanda said. Another factor in Ndjakalenga's decision was the ability to help fill her goals, which include playing basketball beyond college. 'The goal is to play pro basketball and that's why I entered to portal, to see where I can best take that stepping stone to achieve my goal of playing basketball,' Mwenentanda said. Her decision brought her to the Music City of Nashville, becoming the newest player for Vanderbilt. 'There are a lot of girls on the team that want to go pro. I know, being in a final four atmosphere, you've got to have everybody that really wants it,' Mwenentanda said. 'Those who are willing to sacrifice and put time towards the same goal.' While Ndjakalenga is taking her talents to Vandy, her heart will always be in South Dakota, a state providing plenty of support for the Sioux Falls native. 'I grew up in Sioux Falls and I've still got friends I keep in touch with. I keep in touch with Parish over at Washington as well,' Mwenentanda said. 'I think Sioux Falls definitely has a permanent place in my heart, because of what it has provided me.' Mwenentanda will make some trips back and forth to Nashville throughout the summer as she gets ready for the basketball season later this year. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. NBA Makes Major Tre Johnson Announcement
NBA Makes Major Tre Johnson Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The 2025 NBA Draft is filled with lots of talent, and is headlined by Duke Blue Devils phenom Cooper Flagg, who is the presumed No. 1 pick. Advertisement The Dallas Mavericks had a shocking win in the draft lottery, and jumped 10 spots to have the right to select Flagg with the No. 1 pick, bringing hype back to Dallas after the Luka Doncic trade. The NBA has announced that they have invited 13 players thus far to the NBA Draft green room, where top talent will appear with the chance to walk across the stage in the first round. Among the 13 is Texas Longhorns star guard Tre Johnson, who is a projected top five pick in the draft. Texas Longhorns guard Tre Johnson (20).Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images Being one of the few current invitees to the green room is a huge honor for the young guard, who looks to translate his explosive scoring to the NBA. Advertisement Should Johnson remain a top five draft selection, he would be the fifth Longhorn to go in the top five of the draft, joining Tristan Thompson, Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge, and LaSalle Thompson. Texas has not had an NBA Draft selection since 2021, where they saw three players make the jump to the big leagues in Kai Jones, Greg Brown, and Jericho Sims. In CBS Sports' most recent mock draft, Johnson winds up going No. 3 overall to the Philadelphia 76ers, making him the highest drafted Longhorn since Durant going No. 2 in 2007. Johnson is counting down the days for his next stage in his basketball career to begin, and Longhorn fans will be tuning into the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday June 25 to see him walk across the stage in Brooklyn, New York. Longhorns women's basketball adds guard from Ireland
In their search for backcourt reinforcements, Texas women's basketball has gone international. The Longhorns announced on Monday that they had signed guard Grace Prenter. The Dublin native has played with the Irish National Senior Team. During the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket Division B competition, Prenter was a scoring machine. The newest Longhorn averaged 16.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. That was not the only time that Prenter shined on the national stage. She averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game at the 2024 FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket Division B event. Advertisement One thing that has stood out about Prenter is her ability to make an impact regardless of the opponent. She has also shown that she can stretch the floor, which is something Texas coach Vic Schaefer is excited to see in a Longhorns uniform. "Grace will be someone who can really stretch the floor and shoot the ball from deep range," Texas coach Vic Schaefer said in a statement. " She's very competitive and, from that standpoint, fits in well with our current team and roster. She comes from a wonderful family and we appreciate their trust and confidence in allowing their daughter to come across the pond to play for this staff with this team. She will be a great teammate and bring a competitive spirit to our team." Prenter is joining a roster that looks very different than a year ago. The new faces will include five-star recruit Aaliyah Crump. They will be joined by transfers Breya Cunningham, Ashton Judd, Teya Sidberry, and Lovisa Brink Hose. That group hopes to bring a championship to Texas. Advertisement Last season, the Longhorns season ended with a loss in the final four. With a deeper roster and Prenter in the mix, Texas is in a good position to advance further in the NCAA tournament next year.
