First Alert Weather Day: Expecting Strong to Severe Thunderstorms
Sunday starts off mild and breezy with temperatures in the 70s ahead of a strong cold front.
A line of scattered severe thunderstorms is approaching our region from the west. Temperatures will rise to near 80 degrees.
Here's what time the storms are expected to arrive:

Waycross to Lake City between 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Brunswick to western Duval to Starke between 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Coastal Nassau to Ponte Vedra to Palatka between 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Pushing offshore St. Johns County by 6 p.m.

All hazards are on the table: damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, lightning, an isolated tornado, heavy rain, and small hail. This doesn't mean everyone will see these, but the strongest of storms will be capable of them. We clear out overnight with temperatures that will be much cooler over the next few days. A nice week of weather is ahead.

First Alert Weather: Daily afternoon storms through this week
The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team is tracking a warm and muggy evening, with early chances for showers. Notes from the meteorologist: A few showers and storms are possible through the 5-6 pm timeframe in NE Florida mainly north of I-10. Showers and storms in SE Georgia could bring gusty winds through 6 pm. Warm and muggy this evening with temperatures in the 80s. We drop down to the lower to mid 70s tomorrow morning. Showers and storms will redevelop by midday to the west of Jacksonville and spread east through 2-4 pm Tuesday. Storms that do form will be capable of brief torrential rain, strong gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Wednesday and Thursday look to feature the most storms across our area with an active sea breeze. TROPICS: No areas of concern. ‘This one hit us hard;' Nature preserve deals with damages from storm, flooding
Glen Helen Nature Preserve is now dealing with the damage that came as a result of three inches of rapid rainfall on Sunday. Giant tree crashes into another, sends it toppling onto Cobb County rental home
The severe storms that moved through metro Atlanta over the weekend knocked down several trees. In Cobb County, one giant tree crashed into another tree, starting a domino effect where the second tree landed on top of a home. Neighbors who heard it fall says it happened within minutes. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Monday, Channel 2's Michael Doudna reported outside the home on Centerview Drive, where the massive amount of damage hasn't been touched since Saturday night's storms. Doudna learned the home belongs to a rental company. A representative said no one was inside the home because it was under renovations. The rental company said it had someone scheduled to move into the home in two weeks. All of that will be put on hold for quite some time.
