Dig in the crates this weekend at Record Store Day Bangkok 2025
At some point in your twenties – likely around the time your Spotify Wrapped begins resembling the soundtrack of a Wes Anderson film – you realise you don't just 'like' music, you want to touch it. You want to hold its weight, flip it over, scrutinise liner notes like sacred text and wince at the scratch you swore wasn't there when you bought it. You want vinyl.
Record Store Day, then, feels less like an event and more like a rite of passage. This April 25-27, from 10am-10pm, it descends once again upon Bangkok, sprawling across three full days and over thirty record vendors. Set inside The Storeys Square at One Bangkok, it's less 'mall event' and more temporary temple to the analogue gods – complete with DJs, crate diggers and people earnestly debating the superiority of mono pressings. And admission is absolutely nothing.
There are talks, of course. There always are. Panels where collectors drop the needle on nostalgia, fansign corners where musicians meet the brave few who still buy their music in physical form. There's a DJ set billed as 'exclusive,' which usually just means you'll hear something deliciously obscure that no algorithm has yet to recommend.
But let's talk about the Vinyl Swap – here's where it gets interesting (at least in my view.)
You bring a record – your record – maybe a copy of Plastic Ono Band you once played in a breakup fog, maybe something French and dramatic from Air. It has to be in good condition, obviously; this isn't a dumping ground for warped regrets. You leave it on the swap table with a handwritten clue, something cryptic and tender. No titles, no names. Just a few words that hint at what lives in the grooves. Mine read: 'home away from home' with 'morning dew on cherry trees' (Equus Asinus, the album by Men I Trust.)
You don't get to choose in the traditional sense. You read the notes others have left, feel a tug, and pick one. That's it. That's your new record. You're adopting someone's memory, soundtracking a stranger's heartbreak or joy. It's the closest thing I've ever experienced to emotional roulette.
Nearby is Vinyl Home, a softer pocket of the event held in The Wireless Club. Inside, the chaos quiets. The turntables are real, the records on loan from the Public Relations Department's archives, and the vibe is part salon, part listening room, part vintage dreamscape. You can sit. You can breathe. You can let Side B play all the way through without anyone skipping to the chorus.
Record Store Day isn't trying to sell you something. It's trying to remind you of what music used to feel like before it got flattened into files and squeezed into playlists called 'Chill Vibes.' It's messy and warm and oddly intimate, like flipping through someone else's diary written in guitar solos.

Snoop Dogg says emotional goodbye to beloved family member after tragedy
Snoop Dogg, who won an American Music Award for Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and a Primetime Emmy Award more recently, shared two videos on Instagram, writing he misses his French bulldog Juelz Snoop Dogg's beloved dog - given to him as a birthday gift from Wiz Khalifa - has died. The rapper expressed his sadness in two Instagram videos following the loss of French bulldog Juelz. Wiz Khalifa gave his friend the pooch in 2014 as a present for his 43rd birthday. But in a video yesterday, Snoop, now 53, told the fans the upsetting news. Sitting in the front seat of his car, soundtracked by Weldon Irvine's Morning Sunrise, the hip hop legend shared his grief. The father of four, from Long Beach, California, wrote: "Rip @juelzbroadus [crying emoji]Thank wiz for giving him to me.(sic)" The rapper then shared a second video, which featured a montage of Juelz with Snoop and his family and friends over the years, with Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's See You Again playing over the top. He wrote: "Miss my dogg @juelzbroadus (sic)" 'Pocket bully' dog overpowers pensioner as armed police rush to fatal attack Juelz had his own Instagram account, which had thousands of followers and documented his adventures with his famous owner over the years. Meanwhile, Snoop - who has another French bulldog, Frank - recently admitted he is keen to open a food stall at Celtic Park, the Scottish home of his favourite soccer side Celtic. He told Scotland's Sunday Mail, which is our sister title: 'There has always been the opinion that food at sports stadiums is never good but that ain't got to be the case. 'People know that Snoop is a cook and I would love to bring a pop up burger to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good. It's got to be Celtic Park man, I mean where else am I going to bring it. "The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation. The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple cured bacon. The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself.' But Snoop has no interest in offering his food to Celtic's great rivals rangers. He said: "Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well? Nah, I think we will give that a miss!' Snoop revealed back in 2012 that he wanted to buy shares in Celtic after watching the Parkhead side beat Barcelona in the Champions League in November that year. At the time he said: "I got a lot of interest in soccer. It's not a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in sports teams but it is a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in soccer teams...I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell...I want to bring a bit of Snoop to things."

Calling all Class of 2025 grads: Central Park is giving you one more reason to celebrate before tossing that cap in the air. The Central Park Conservancy is offering free senior portraits at the newly reopened Conservatory Garden next week and trust us, your Instagram feed will thank you. Photographers will be on site Monday, June 16, and Wednesday, June 18, from 1 to 4 pm, snapping pro portraits in one of the city's most jaw-dropping green spaces. Reservations are required and slots are first-come, first-served, so now's the time to lock in your 10-minute fame window. The Conservatory Garden is made up of six manicured acres of formal gardens tucked into the northeast corner of Central Park, just off Fifth Avenue between 104th and 106th Streets. Recently reopened after a multi-year, $17 million renovation, the Conservatory Garden is looking fresher than ever—think crabapple allées, blooming borders, vine-draped pergolas and fountains worthy of a Bridgerton shoot. Grads are encouraged to show up in whatever outfit suits their vibe, whether it's a classic cap-and-gown look or a stylish statement piece that says, 'I'm done with cafeteria food and AP Chem.' There's no dress code, no awkward studio lighting and no fees, just a stunning backdrop and photo to mark the milestone. And while you're there, it's worth taking a lap around the three distinct garden styles: the French-inspired North Garden with its orderly lawns and fountain; the Italianate Center Garden, flanked by wisteria and yew; and the English-style South Garden, home to the beloved Frances Hodgson Burnett sculpture from The Secret Garden. Portraits will be emailed to students within 10 business days, which gives you just enough time to get them printed before the graduation party—or, let's be honest, to post with a carefully chosen Drake lyric.

Two new aircrafts to appear at International Ayr Show this year
The two air forces will be appearing this September. Both the French Air and Space Force and Belgian Air Force are set to appear at the International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight this September. Organisers are "excited" to confirm the French aerobatic team known as Équipe de Voltige de l'Armée de l'Air (EVAA) as the first of the international aerial displays for the airshow, and a new display for 2025. The breath-taking aerobatic display will showcase the talent of this team of highly qualified elite military pilots, including the current word aerobatic champion. The EVAA operate the Extra EA-330SC high performance aircraft capable of complex aerial manoeuvres. The two aircraft joining the airshow in Ayr will be flown by world class pilots, affectionately known as 'Souche' and 'Brice', who will deliver a two-ship display program featuring their own thrilling individual sections. This year, for the first time, there will be a static display of the Belgian Air Force Augusta 109BA Hirundo on Ayr's Low Green, allowing festival goers an up-close look at this impressive helicopter. The Augusta has been used in roles such as armed reconnaissance, observation, tactical support, medical evacuation and for anti-tank missions. As part of this unique attraction, the public will be able to meet the crew to learn about what they do and find out more about the aircraft. Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Brian Connolly said: "It's fantastic to be able to announce two new aircraft for this year's airshow – and two international acts at that! The crowds are sure to be thoroughly impressed by the highly technical display put on by the expert pilots from the French aerobatic team, and I'm certainly looking forward to it." Depute Leader of South Ayrshire Council and Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "Excitement is building for the International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight, so it's wonderful to be able to announce that two brand new aircraft are on the bill this year. I'm sure locals and visitors alike will be flocking to the Low Green to catch a glimpse of the Augusta up close and meet the crew!" CEO of The Skylab, Geoff Coxon, said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have the Belgian Air Force attend our airshow. We are aware that as a seaside display, we do not have the ability to get aircraft on the ground so the public can get access to the aircraft as other airshows are able to do. And as the airport is too far away to have a static event whilst the airshow is happening, we decided to almost bring the airport to Low Green so everyone will be able meet and chat to the Augusta helicopter crew. "It is a privilege, and honour, to have the French Air & Space Force join us this year, and we are one of only two displays that EVAA will attend in the UK in 2025. It illustrates how our airshow is now regarded as one of the best In the UK where international teams want to come and display." The event will take place on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 at Ayr's shorefront - with activities and attractions throughout the Low Green.
