GOT7's Mark to drop solo single ‘High As You' on May 30
SEOUL, May 22 — Mark, a member of South Korean boy band GOT7, is reportedly set to return as a solo artist with a new single scheduled for release on May 30, according to his agency Transparent Arts.
According to The Korea Herald, Transparent Arts said in a statement on Wednesday that the prerelease track titled High As You is an alternative pop song that highlights Mark's distinct melodic style and performance skills.
The agency, which recently signed him, also manages Far East Movement, the Los Angeles-based group known as the first Asian American act to top the US Billboard chart.
Mark debuted in 2014 as part of the seven-member group GOT7 and has been pursuing solo projects since 2021.
He later founded an independent label called Dreamers N Achievers to support his solo activities.
The upcoming release follows GOT7's recent two-day concert in Bangkok earlier this month.
The event took place at Thailand's national stadium and reportedly drew a crowd of about 85,000 fans.
GOT7 continues to maintain its group activities while members also explore individual projects.

BTS discharge countdown: RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook set to rejoin civilian life on June 10 and 11
SEOUL, June 7 — The wait is almost over for ARMYs around the world. RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook — four of the seven members of global K-pop juggernaut BTS — are days away from completing South Korea's mandatory military service, their agency BigHit Music confirmed. RM and V will be discharged on June 10, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on June 11. The group's eldest member, Jin, and J-Hope completed their duties last year, while Suga, who has been serving in an alternative public service programme due to health reasons, is scheduled for discharge on June 21. Fans eager to catch a glimpse of their idols have been urged to stay away from military bases due to safety concerns. In a statement, BigHit Music made it clear: 'The discharge day is reserved for military personnel only... Each location has very limited space, and overcrowding can pose safety risks.' The agency added that RM and V will appear briefly in Chuncheon, while Jimin and Jungkook will speak in Yeoncheon — but no official fan events are planned at these locations. 'We kindly request that fans avoid going to the bases,' the agency stressed. Still, excitement is building. Just two days after Jungkook and Jimin's discharge, BTS — minus Suga — will reunite for a 12th anniversary celebration at the BTS Festa on June 13 and 14 at Kintex, Goyang. The event is expected to mark the first official appearance of the group's reunited lineup in over a year. Speculation continues to swirl about a possible regrouping and world tour later this year, but so far, BigHit has made no formal announcements.

Puspal didn't reject K-pop concert, says ministry
South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE and GOT7's BamBam were slated to perform in Kuala Lumpur on June 14. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : The communications ministry has denied claims that a K-pop concert scheduled for June 14 was cancelled due to a lack of approval from the authorities. The ministry said its central committee for applications for filming and performances by foreign artistes (Puspal) had granted pre-approval for 'K-Pop Big 2 Super Concert: (G)I-DLE & BamBam Live in Malaysia' on April 28. 'The decision to cancel the concert was made by the organisers, taking into account various justifications and the interests of all parties involved,' it said in a statement today. 'Organisers are required to make thorough preparations, including securing early approvals from relevant stakeholders, before organising a concert involving high-profile international artistes, as stipulated in the Puspal guidelines.' The concert, scheduled to take place at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, would have featured the popular South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE and GOT7 member BamBam. However, Live Universe Sdn Bhd had announced in a Facebook post on Monday that the concert was cancelled due to regulatory issues. The organisers maintained that all requirements had been fulfilled but that, despite their efforts, their concert permit application was not approved.

BTS Festa returns — now fans are dreaming of seven-member comeback after two-year hiatus, as military service ends this month
SEOUL, June 3 — BTS fans are currently looking forward to the K-pop boy group's long-awaited reunion as all seven members are set to complete their mandatory military service by the end of this month. This would pave the way for a possible group comeback after nearly two years, and a new album since Map of the Soul: 7 that was released back in 2020. This comes as BTS Festa 2025 — an annual celebration of BTS' debut on June 13 — has been announced as taking place at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. At least six of the seven members would finish their service by then — prompting fans to get buzzed over the possibility of surprise appearances, or special events involving the full group. Korea Herald reported that members RM and V are scheduled to be discharged on June 10, followed by Jimin and Jungkook the next day. Meanwhile Suga, who is serving his alternative duty as a social service worker, is expected to finish on June 21. This concludes the enlistment period that began in December 2022. Member Jin, who was the first to enlist, has already completed his service and resumed individual activities along with J-Hope. The paper also cited industry insiders saying that a full-group comeback may now come as early as the end of this year, or in the first half of 2026. Jin most recently released the single 'Don't Say You Love Me', with a music video filmed at National Gallery Singapore, in collaboration with Singapore Tourism Board. His 'RunSeokjin Ep. Tour' will begin later this month. Meanwhile, J-Hope just released the 'Mona Lisa' single, and is currently on his 'Hope on the Stage' world tour.
