Diversions as Stamford town bridge works set to begin
Councillor Michael Cheyne said: "We have discovered that the bridge shows signs of water seepage which is the result of a failure of the existing waterproofing membrane. To deal with this, we will have to remove the existing road surface and footpaths."The remedial work is essential for the continuing use of what is one of Stamford's most famous landmarks and a critical part of the local traffic network."A full list of diversions for drivers and pedestrians is available on the council website.

The ‘Octavia' is a supercharged, 805bhp Aston Martin DBS with a six-speed manual
The 'Octavia' is a supercharged, 805bhp Aston Martin DBS with a six-speed manual The brothers Ring resurrect Seventies Brit supercar, fill it with Ford V8 Skip 20 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 20 'We've combined the ferocity of American muscle with the stiff upper lip of English sophistication and motoring,' said Ringbrothers co-owner Mike Ring. 'Octavia is beyond anything we've built before.' Welcome one and all, to the wildest incarnation of Aston Martin's Seventies superhero. And very much not a medium-sized Skoda. It is an old DBS subjected to Theseus's Paradox. A 1971 classic stripped, stretched, beefed up and filled with five litres of pure American firepower. Over 12,000 hours of hard graft have gone into filling this DBS with Ford Performance's 5.0-litre supercharged V8, matched to a 2.65-litre supercharger, both tuned for the road and working together to provide 805 American horses. Crikey. Photography: Huckleberry Mountain There's yet more Americana lurking within. It's hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, and the entire drivetrain is packaged inside a custom chassis from Roadster Shop. The wheelbase has been stretched by three inches over the original DBS, and the two brothers have fitted an integrated structural roll cage into the body. There's independent rear suspension, C7 'Vette sway bars, Fox Racing dampers, Brembo brakes, and a bespoke, full carbon fibre body draped over it. It was designed by a chap called Gary Ragle, with 'echoes' of William Townsend's original buried in there somewhere. Ringbrothers said the aim was for 'Coke-bottle curvature' via a wider front and rear end. 'We asked ourselves, 'what would an MI6 agent drive on holiday?',' asked co-owner Jim Ring. 'This was the result.' Looking for more from the USA? Car Deal of the Day: The Hyundai Kona Electric is a distinctive SUV for under £218 a month
Strong design; quality interior 319-mile range Just £217.66 a month Two years in the electric car world feel like two decades at the moment, thanks to the relentless stream of new models and technology arriving. So, you might assume the Hyundai Kona Electric, which debuted in 2023, might be a faded also-ran by now. Advertisement - Article continues below That's really not the case, though, as time really hasn't taken the sheen off the Kona Electric. It's still as fresh-faced as it was when it launched, and remains excellent value for money. How so? Well, with deals like this one. Through the Auto Express Buy A Car service, Lease Car UK is offering the small electric SUV for just £217.66 a month. Naturally, there's an initial payment to sort, but it's a reasonable £2,959.22. The deal is for two years and annual mileage is capped at 5,000. A jump up to 8,000 will only cost an extra £16.13 a month. Here you'll be getting the Advance model, and while it is the entry-level version, it's packed with goodies. Standard features include 17-inch alloys, cruise control with stop and go, dual-zone climate control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and full LED headlights. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below Hyundai even throws in a heat pump to potentially make the car more efficient in colder weather, plus vehicle-to-load tech so you can power other electrical items from the car's battery. In terms of power, the Kona Electric gets a 65.4kWh battery and a single 218bhp motor. Performance is more than quick enough, and thanks to those 17-inch wheels the Advance has the best range of any Kona, at an impressive 319 miles (WLTP). Inside is a really nice place to be thanks to a great mixture of modern tech and traditional, physical buttons. It's well screwed together, plus there's plenty of interior space. Urgent warning issued to Citroen owners
Citroen has expanded its critical 'stop-drive' airbag recall to include C4, DS4, and DS5 models due to a potentially dangerous fault. This expansion follows an initial recall earlier this year for C3 and DS3 models, prompted by a fatal incident in France involving a 2014 Citroen C3. The expanded recall affects an additional 9,968 vehicles in the UK, specifically C4 models from 2010-2011, DS4s from 2010-2011, and DS5s from 2010-2013. Citroen has already fitted new replacement airbags to over 66,000 vehicles, with the majority expected to be completed by the end of September. Owners are advised not to drive affected vehicles and can check if their car is impacted by entering their VIN on the Citroen website.
