The 8 Best Hotels in North Africa and the Middle East of 2025
Rooms/facilities Location Service Food Value For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.

T+L readers' favorite city hotels in North Africa and the Middle East are split between three places this year: Doha, Cairo, and Marrakesh. And one particular brand did very well: the Four Seasons snagged three of the top five spots. As you might expect, location was a factor in how readers rated city hotels in this region. One said of Marriott Mena House, Cairo (No. 2): "Great location, a nice respite from the busy city." Style and design also proved important, with readers praising the architecture of Marrakesh's La Mamounia (No. 3)—also on the list in 2024—and its 'beautifully maintained grounds'.

'The best hotel in Doha,' wrote one T+L reader about this year's winner and World's Best Awards newcomer, Four Seasons Hotel Doha. The beachfront property, in Qatar's capital, was popular with readers for its location and service—one wrote about a lengthy immigration wait that had led to the hotel manager streamlining their check-in process and taking extra care of them during their stay. Another reader mentioned the 'extraordinary Nobu restaurant' on site. The hotel also has nine other restaurants and lounges, plus a private beach and a spa.

2. Marriott Mena House, Cairo

Interestingly, this year's list of top resorts in North Africa and the Middle East is completely different from the 2024 list—though some properties have been featured in prior years. One common thread for this year's winners? Location. A favorite resort destination for T+L readers, Dubai has all three hotels, including both Atlantis properties (The Palm at No. 4 and The Royal at No. 2). When it comes to why they voted for these resorts, it's clear readers valued aesthetics—one noted 'everything was new and shiny' at the Atlantis The Royal.

Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort
T+L readers picked Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort as their top resort in North Africa and the Middle East this year. Readers praised its broad appeal for families and couples, as well as beachy staycations for Dubai residents. On the Palm Jumeirah island off Dubai, with its own strip of private coastline, the hotel launched the United Arab Emirates' first overwater villas, and has three pools, a spa, and six restaurants and lounges, including its signature Asian restaurant, Mekong.
1. Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

2. Atlantis The Royal: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The No. 1 Train in the World Has a New Journey That Lets You Explore the Canadian Rockies Like Never Before
If the wild nature of western Canada is calling to you, now is your chance to explore. Rocky Mountaineer announced a new train tour itinerary called 'Passage to the Peaks,' which will journey between Jasper and Banff, allowing travelers to immerse themselves in some of the most iconic landscapes of Canada. The journey will be available for a limited time in the summer of 2026, in June and July. 'This experience takes you exclusively through the breathtaking highlights of the Canadian Rockies and is our only route that doesn't travel to the West Coast. Beginning and ending in the iconic mountain towns of Banff and Jasper, this journey is for those who want to immerse themselves in the evergreen forests, sparkling glacial lakes, and towering mountains that define the region,' Rocky Mountaineer says on its website. Rocky Mountaineer is routinely earns a spot in Travel + Leisure 's annual World's Best Awards and snagged the No. 1 spot in 2025. The route can be taken either eastbound or westbound, starting or ending in Banff or Jasper. Travelers beginning in Banff will be able to explore Banff National Park and the surrounding town, where the Cascade Mountain looms overhead. The route then continues to Lake Louise, where travelers can see the clear mountain waters and the historic Fairmont Chateau. Some routes don't include Lake Louise, which can't be viewed onboard the train. The journey continues to Mount Rundle in Banff National Park, with its rushing waterfalls and glaciers, before continuing on to the panoramic views of Castle Mountain, named after its fortress-like appearance. Guests will stay overnight in the quiet town of Kamloops in British Columbia. Travelers continue on to see Pyramid Falls from a viewing platform that is impossible to access by car, and only able to be reached by the train. Participants will also see Mount Robson, the tallest peak in the Canadian Rockies, before arriving in Jasper National Park where they can experience local hiking trails, hidden lakes, and the famous Jasper Park Lodge. 'Passage to the Peaks will be available on select dates in 2026 due to the FIFA World Cup taking place in Vancouver during June and July. With the city expected to welcome a significant number of visitors, we're excited to offer an alternative route for those seeking a quieter experience,' the website states. The trip can be expanded with add-ons and is able to last anywhere from one night to nine nights. Travelers can find the travel package that works best for them on

Wizz Air Chief Gives Himself Two Years to Deliver Turnaround
The head of Wizz Air Holdings Plc has given himself two years to turn around the low-cost airline and win back investors after a run of setbacks, including a humbling retreat from the Middle East. Jozsef Varadi, who co-founded Wizz in 2003, aims to cement a recovery by mid-2027, he said, when the hangover effect from the failed Abu Dhabi initiative is through and extra shop visits for the geared turbofan engines powering Wizz's Airbus SE fleet should be complete.
