Looking for a healthy dose of gaming nostalgia? You can save $15 on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, freshly remastered for basically every gaming console, including the Nintendo Switch 2. It's relatively uncommon for newer titles to get a discount, especially on the latest Nintendo console, so this is a good time to scoop them if you're interested.
If you've never played a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game, you're missing out! The first game dropped in 1999, and has steadily evolved over the years with bigger tricks, more points, and an ever-growing cast of real professional skaters. In recent years, Vicarious Visions and Iron Galaxy have buckled up the proverbial helmet and remastered the early games in the series, starting with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020.
Notably, the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 remasters don't include the career mode, a big shift made by the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 that gave quests to NPCs around each map. Instead, both games use more traditional two minute rounds, with a list of objectives to try and complete during that time.
There are three entirely new maps for the remaster, my favorite of which is set on a huge pinball machine, complete with an even larger Tony Hawk looking down on you as you skate. I like that it feels unique and new, while still having that fun, slightly off-kilter vibe that made the games great in the first place.
All of the existing maps have been revamped as well, with updated textures and models, new objectives, and fun little easter eggs to find as you play. In addition to create-a-skater, and the original cast of pro skaters, there are new additions as well, like Andy Anderson, Bam Margera, and even Doom Guy from Doom. There are even remixed soundtracks with both classic tracks and new songs that fit the THPS vibe.
After beating the career mode, there's a surprising amount of replayability here, with ton of extra challenges and achievements to complete. I sunk countless hours in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 working on the 'Get There' challenges, trying to perform precise combinations of tricks and gaps on each map. I've already worked my way through the regular and pro goals for each map in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, and I'm slowly chiseling away at the hardest challenges in the game, which ask for combos in the millions of points.

Dante and Vergil Meet Again in ‘Devil May Cry' Season 2 Teaser

With the rift machine destroyed in Devil May Cry season one, thanks to Dante (Johnny Yong Bosch), the demon hunter's down-on-his-luck fate appeared to be turning around after being humanity's salvation. That was, of course, until the shocking reveal that his brother was still alive. The latest teaser for the Adi Shankar and Netflix animated series drops more surprises for season two. Dante's brother, Vergil (Robbie Daymond), is back, and this time he's working with the demons after the defeat of the White Rabbit terrorist organization. While Dante is frozen, Vergil wreaks havoc on America for nuking the Demonworld, which sets the stage for quite the family reunion. The way battles lay waste to both the demon and human worlds seems never-ending as Dante returns to the fray with raised familial stakes. The trailer shows the long-coated and dramatic exchange comes to a clash of weapons of blood versus blood. As their brotherhood stands diametrically opposed as foes, the story from the Capcom game you thought you knew might be reimagined in a new thrilling way when it returns in 2026. At least that's Shankar's hope, as he recently told Deadline, 'I approached this as a new continuity. So, it's not a remake, it's not a rehash, but in some ways it's closer to a retelling. And that's the thing I do across all my stuff. If you watch even the short films on YouTube, it's always like there's the IP and then there's the Adi Shankar spin on the IP. I wanted my show to feel like Devil May Cry, to take the spirit of DMC, but I thought of it as like Marvel's Ultimate Universe, or even X-Men: The Animated Series, like reinterpretations that preserve the emotional core while restructuring the mythology to suit a new medium. Essentially the foundation remains, but the scaffolding has been rebuilt to support long-form storytelling in a serialized, animated format for streaming television.' Shankar continued, 'It's a new universe, but it is one constructed from a complete obsessive understanding of canon, right? Both the public-facing story and the deeper internal mythology that's only known to Capcom, because you get access to all of that and just kind of absorb it even more. And you become even more of a super fan because you've gotten to peek behind the curtain. So, then, my job as creator-showrunner is franchise architect for the DMC universe on Netflix. It's to essentially take the full spectrum of knowledge and build something that respects the past while unlocking new narrative possibilities.' Devil May Cry season two is coming in 2026; season one is streaming on Netfilx now. Want more io9 news? Old Dominion plays Minnesota State Fair ahead of latest album release

The sights and sounds of country band Old Dominion lit up the Grandstand at the Minnesota State Fair on Thursday, and WCCO got to sit down with the band hours before they took the stage. "They should expect to see a band very joyous and happy to be playing up there. It's a big night for us," said Trevor Rosen. It's a big night for a big album release. Their latest album, "Barbara," drops on Friday. "It took a lot of writing. A lot of writing and soul searching," they said about the new record. "Initially, it was to entertain ourselves. We thought it would be really fun to name the album off of a person's name. I don't think we realized it would take off like it has." Fans at their activation booth were psyched. "Super psyched. I've seen Old Dominion like six times," said Jill Waldmann, who flew from New York for the show. And it's not Old Dominion's first time at the Great Minnesota Get-Together. "I remember playing at the free stage before," said Matthew Ramsey. "Carrie Underwood was playing [the Grandstand]... I think there was a bluegrass band that played before us." Now that they have superfans like Carrie Underwood. "Thank you for giving us this life," Rosen said. "We always want people to take what they need. Once we put music out, it's theirs, not our's anymore," Ramsey said.
