Open forecast: Rain, wind and sun ... all in a day
In other words, welcome to The Open.

For the second official practice-round day, there's a chance for 'thundery showers between bright and sunny intervals,' with winds gusting up to 20 mph and temperatures hovering in the low 60s.
It's already been an unpredictable weather week, with play suspended for more than an hour Monday because of lightning in the area. Temperatures also were slightly above average, in the low 70s.
Though Wednesday's forecast looks clear and bright, the official outlook for the championship rounds remains 'unsettled.' Heavy bursts of rain are possible for Thursday's opening round, including a chance of thunderstorms, and there's a high likelihood for more rain through the weekend, though the timing and strength are unknown at this time.

Former Wanderer Owen Beck joins Championship side on loan deal
Former Wanderer Owen Beck has joined Championship side Derby County on a season-long loan from Liverpool. Beck joined the Whites in the summer of 2022 and went on to make nine first-team appearances. The left-back had been playing catch-up on the rest of the squad following a stint in Portugal and was recalled by Liverpool midway through the campaign. He spent the following season at Dundee United, gaining valuable experience in the Scottish Premiership. Beck spent last term at Blackburn Rovers, getting his first taste of Championship football and playing 25 times before his campaign was cut short by injury. The Welshman now reunites with John Eustace, who brought him to Ewood Park before taking over at Derby in February. He also signed Danny Batth and Andi Weimann on free transfers from his former club. When asked about Beck earlier this week, Eustace told Derbyshire Live: "He's a really exciting young player and I was very fortunate to work with him last year. "I think everyone could see the growth he made playing in the Championship, and he's a super young, talented player and he's one of the most exciting full-backs in the country for his age at the moment. "He's just a very good young player. There is a lot to improve, and if he comes to Derby and chooses to come to us, our job is to help develop him. "That's my job and the coach's job in that, whichever player comes to the football club, no matter how old or how young they are, they're coming into an environment where they're going to improve, get better, and to make sure that, on a Saturday, they're very competitive."

Liverpool left-back Beck joins Derby on loan
Derby County have confirmed the arrival of Liverpool left-back Owen Beck on a season-long loan. It is the 22-year-old's second loan move to a Championship club in as many years, having spent last season at Blackburn Rovers. Beck, who has also had previous spells at Dundee in the Scottish Premiership and Bolton in League One, joined Liverpool's youth set-up from Stoke City at Under-13 level and made his first-team debut for the Reds in the EFL Cup in October 2021. The former Wales Under-21 international made a solitary Premier League appearance for Liverpool off the bench in January 2024, but has not featured for the first team since. He becomes Derby's sixth summer addition and third to have played under Rams head coach John Eustace at Blackburn last season, with forward Andreas Weimann and centre-back Danny Batth both arriving on free transfers. Before Beck's arrival was confirmed, Eustace described him as "one of the most exciting full-backs in the country for his age at the moment". "He is a really exciting young player," Eustace told BBC Radio Derby. "There is a lot to improve and our job is to help develop him. "My job, and that of all the coaches, is that whenever a player comes to the football club, no matter how old or how young they are, they come into an environment where they are going to improve and get better."
