Notre Dame football recruiting update following the Blue-Gold game
While Notre Dame football played its annual Blue-Gold spring game this past weekend and still has a few more practices left, they took full advantage of the environment and it payed off on Sunday with a commitment from offensive lineman Gregory Patrick.
It wrapped up a huge recruiting week for the Irish, as they also added edge rushers Rodney Dunham and Ebenezer Ewetade in the 2026 class. The group now stands at 10 total commitments and ranks as the No. 6 collection nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.
While it was just Patrick joining the fold this weekend, many more prospects will join later in the cycle. Find out below a recap of what else happened this weekend in Notre Dame football recruiting.
Running back Javian Osborne
While we knew that Osborne was selecting between Notre Dame and Michigan, what we didn't know was when. On Friday it was announced that the 5-foot, 10-inch and 195-pound back will make his choice on May 3rd. Osborne was in South Bend this weekend, and it could end up being his home for a few years.
Defensive end Tiko Hola
Hola is nearing a decision as well, and was also on campus this weekend. He's a priority recruit for the Irish, as he's also considering SMU and USC. At 6-foot, 2-inches and 285-pounds, he's exactly the type of prospect that Notre Dame likes on the interior defensive line. It's a very positive development that he visited this weekend, as the remaining trips he has scheduled are all official visits, with the final one to South Bend.
Defensive end commitment Rodney Dunham
Not only did Dunham pick the Irish this week, he was on campus as well. It is great to see him buying into the program, and helping to recruit his potential classmates. The brotherhood is strong for Notre Dame, and that doesn't look like it will end anytime soon.
Wide receiver Brayden Robinson
The Texas receiver also took a trip to see Notre Dame this weekend, as they are inside his top-four teams. Robinson also recently visited Miami, so it looks like those are the teams to beat in his recruitment. He's set to make his commitment on July 20th, which comes a month after he finishes with his official visits.
Wide receiver Monshun Sales
This is a huge development, as Sales is viewed as a national prospect in the 2027 class that resides in Notre Dame's backyard. Getting him on campus early and often will be a key for the Irish to win out in his recruitment for the in-state star. It looks like it's going very well at the moment.
Defensive lineman Richie Flanigan
The younger brother of James Flanigan (signed tight end) and father Jim, Notre Dame football runs in the family's blood. It looks like another could be on the way, as the 2027 defensive tackle returned 'home' for a visit this weekend. Don't be surprised to see the Richie joining the family tradition in the future.
Wide receiver Gordon Sellars
This is a big visit for Sellars, as he had already made a commitment date prior to getting the Irish offer. It was tempting enough for him to come and visit before making a decision, and if he postpones it to a later date, you know the Notre Dame coaching staff did a great job selling the program to him. Sellars could be the difference maker at receiver that the Irish are looking for.

Michigan football lands No. 14 in 2025 AP Top 25, faces No. 3 Ohio State, No. 18 Oklahoma
The national media doesn't speak that highly of Michigan football entering 2025, yet it appears that it thinks more highly than it speaks of the Wolverines. The coaches shared their thoughts with the release of the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll last week, where the maize and blue came in ranked No. 14 overall. But the AP Top 25 polls the media across the country. With that in mind, we now get a glimpse of the 2025 season expectations for the maize and blue. And like in the coaches poll, Michigan football came in ranked No. 14. But unlike in the coaches poll, the Wolverines have not just one, but two ranked opponents -- No. 3 Ohio State and No. 18 Oklahoma. Thus, beating Oklahoma in Week 2 would have some serious implications on the season should that happen. Here are the full rankings: BYU, Utah, Baylor, Louisville, USC, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Tulane, Nebraska, UNLV, Toledo, Auburn, James Madison, Memphis, Florida State, Duke, Liberty, Navy, Iowa, TCU, Pittsburgh, Army, Colorado, Louisiana-Lafayette

Lions safety Morice Norris is in concussion protocol and team will ease him back in, coach says
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris, who was taken off the field in an ambulance late in a preseason game last week, is in concussion protocol and doing well, coach Dan Campbell said Monday. 'We're going to take it nice and easy here to make sure he's good over the next 10 to 14 days and reassess," Campbell said. 'That's good news." After spending Friday night in an Atlanta hospital following the exhibition game against the Falcons that ended early, Norris flew back to Detroit on Saturday and returned to the Lions' facility on Sunday. 'It was great, everybody was fired up to see him. It's a breath of fresh air," Campbell said. 'It's hard when something like that happens and you don't know. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen guys with concussions knocked out — I've had them myself — but when you have these and then you don't know. You know they're breathing, but you don't know anything else. And they're gone. It's just different, it's a little different because you're trying to block that out, but it's still there.' Norris said in a social post Saturday that he was OK and thanked people for their support. He was hospitalized in stable condition late Friday after being attended to for about 20 minutes by medical personnel at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The 24-year-old Norris was hurt with 14:50 left in the game after hitting Falcons running back Nathan Carter. He hit Carter with his facemask facing the running back's midsection and his head snapped back after assisting on the tackle. In a show of concern and unity, members of both teams held hands in a circle on the field after injury. Campbell and Atlanta coach Raheem Morris made the decision to not finish the game. 'We talked to (official) Shawn Hochuli (and he) let us know that the game is still on. We communicated with each other, we told Shawn we'll be taking knees," Campbell said Monday. 'He said, 'I understand.' And that's the way it went. Then the game was called." Norris, a former Fresno State standout, played in eight games last season after earning a spot on the team as an undrafted rookie. He is competing for a safety roster spot with Lauren Strickland and Ian Kennelly, behind All-Pro Kerby Joseph and Pro Bowler Brian Branch. The Lions and Dolphins face off in training camp on Wednesday and Thursday before meeting in a preseason game Saturday at Ford Field. ___ AP NFL:
