En route to the semifinals, Alcaraz — the No. 2 player in the world — has lost four sets in five matches, and swept through Cam Norrie in three sets in the quarterfinals.
Alcaraz and No. 1 Jannik Sinner have won each of the last six grand slam tournaments, with Sinner winning the 2025 Australian Open and Alcaraz winning the 2025 French Open.
As for Sinner, he's second on the oddsboard and has made it to the championship round of the last three grand slams, winning twice and losing in that 2025 French Open final to Alcaraz in five remarkable sets.
Alcaraz will take on Taylor Fritz in the Wimbledon semis, and holds a 2-0 all-time record against the American. Sinner will face Djokovic, and has a 5-4 all-time lead over the 24-time grand slam champion, having won their last four encounters.
On the ladies' side, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is favored, and she is looking to make her fourth straight grand slam final. She won the 2024 US Open, before falling in the 2025 Australian Open final and the 2025 French Open final.
Wimbledon is the only grand slam tournament where Sabalenka has yet to make it to the championship round.
Sabalenka will face American Amanda Anisimova in the semis, and the world No. 13 holds a 5-3 all-time record against the world No. 1.
Lastly, five-time major champion Iga Świątek is second on the oddsboard, and is looking for her first Wimbledon finals berth. She will face Belinda Bencic in the semis, and holds a 3-1 edge all-time over Bencic.

Streaking Toronto Blue Jays giving Proline players much to ponder
The Toronto Blue Jays are giving Proline players plenty to ponder these days. Toronto returned from the all-star break in impressive fashion, sweeping the San Francisco Giants over the weekend. The Jays opened the series with a 4-0 victory Friday night before finishing up with wins by scores of 6-3 and 8-6. According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., 69 per cent of players backed Toronto's win Saturday, with 53 per cent having the Blue Jays at +1.5 runs. Seventy-nine per cent had them over at 7.5. Sunday's series-ending victory was supported by 63 per cent of bettors while 51 per cent had Toronto +1.5 runs. But only 48 successfully had the Jays over at 8.5. Heading into the second half of the baseball season, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the top World Series outright pick at 32 per cent, followed by Toronto at 21 per cent. The Detroit Tigers are a distant third at 11per cent. Toronto is a solid 62 per cent pick to win the American League East outright, comfortably ahead of the New York Yankees (21 per cent). Meanwhile, in golf, American Scottie Scheffler cemented his status as the world's top-ranked player by winning the British Open by four strokes. Just 12 per cent of bettors had Scheffler winning the event, while 29 per cent had him earning a top 10 finish. This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 23, 2025. Error! NASCAR Will Run a Race Around the Runways of a U.S. Navy Airbase in San Diego Next June
NASCAR may not be racing at the Chicago street circuit next year, but the series is not done with temporary tracks in big cities just yet. On Wednesday, the series announced plans to run a race at a Naval Base Coronado, a tiny island that makes up part of the city of San Diego. The event, which is only confirmed for 2026 as part of a one-year deal, will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy itself. The track should look more like an airport circuit (think Cleveland and Edmonton's former IndyCar rounds, or what Formula E currently runs in Berlin) than a more conventional street circuit, but a layout has not yet been confirmed. NASCAR executive Ben Kennedy told Fox Sports that the track would be around three miles long and built around "the tarmac and the apron areas of the runways but likely not the runways themselves." The base previously held the Coronado Speed Festival, a historic race that also occasionally featured Mazda's MX-5 Cup, from 1997 through 2016. NASCAR's layout is unlikely to be the same as this track, but it could use many of the same stretches of pavement. Another San Diego landmark, the Del Mar horse racing track, hosted a street circuit built in its parking lot in both the 1960s and 1980s. San Diego has not been targeted as a major auto racing market since, although fans from the region are about 90 minutes away from the annual Long Beach Grand Prix in Los Angeles. Since that annual event is in April, the two temporary circuit races are unlikely to pull from the other's audience in significant numbers. NASCAR's San Diego debut is set to run from June 19th to June 21st. All three national series will run on the track, including the Truck Series that skipped Chicago in all three years that the event was held. Football helped Ben Shelton's tennis game. Just don't make a big deal out of it.
To be clear, Ben Shelton does not want to embellish his youth football career. Football was just a hobby for Shelton — and hard to avoid while growing up in the heart of SEC country in Gainesville, Florida, before attending the University of Florida. But the tennis star couldn't help but laugh when the question came up at Wimbledon. In a segment that ended up going viral, a British on-court interviewer described Shelton as a 'quarterbacker.' Shelton jokingly explained what a football looks like to the crowd and confirmed he did indeed play 'quarterback, or quarterbacker, either way.'
