I think you can see in our performances, our teamwork has improved, and a big part of that is communication and understanding each other.''Mouat's Scotland rink won World Championship gold for a second time this year, having been European champions on four the Edinburgh curler wants to add Olympic gold to their list of achievements."We were close last time," he said. "It came down to a matter of centimetres in the final. It was tough at the time but we've really bounced back and got our two world championships and now we've got 10 Grand Slam titles, so we have a lot of momentum." Childhood friends link up once more Mouat and Dodds will team up again to compete in the mixed doubles, having lost out in the 2022 bronze medal match."We're friends first and foremost, but we are team-mates as well," explained Dodds. He always puts a smile on my face."We had the World Championships in April, and we got silver there, and I felt like that was kind of where we were, back to where we were from a couple of years ago. What we're wanting to go and strive for, is that gold medal at the Olympics.''Mouat added: "Jen and I are great friends and we have been since we were about eight or nine. It's just so much fun to get to go back to one of the pinnacles of our sport and play with someone that you've played with for such a long time. "In Beijing we were very close to winning a medal. We were up in our semi-final and then we ended up just throwing it away unfortunately, but we learned a lot from that experience."The 25th edition of the Winter Games will take place between 6-22 February 2026, across 16 disciplines.

Newcastle look to sign ex-Man Utd star as part of stunning £140m triple transfer – but rule out move for Marcus Rashford

NEWCASTLE are ready to launch a fresh raid for Anthony Elanga — as part of a £140million triple swoop. Eddie Howe is ready to pull the trigger on offers for Nottingham Forest winger Elanga, Brighton forward Joao Pedro and Burnley keeper James Trafford. 4 4 SunSport understands the Magpies are ready to bid £50m for Elanga after seeing a £45m offer rejected earlier this week. And they will battle Chelsea for £60m-rated Pedro, while wrapping up £30m Trafford, after June 30. That is when a new window begins for Profit and Sustainability rules — in which Toon may be able to include around £100m in Champions League revenue. Elanga is Howe's top target on the right wing although the club are also exploring other targets in case they fail to land the Swede. Aston Villa 's Jacob Ramsey and Bournemouth 's Antoine Semenyo are also on the radar. Howe is a huge admirer of Pedro and missed out on him three years ago when he was at Watford before eventually landing Alexander Isak, who he now wants the Samba star to help support in attack. Brighton are willing to cash in after he was axed for the last two games of the season by Fabian Hurzeler following a training-ground bust-up with team-mate Jan Paul van Hecke. Newcastle 's players are due to report back for pre-season training on July 7 and Howe, who also ideally wants a new centre-half too, hopes to have at least two new signings on board by then. CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS 4 Newcastle have been linked with a move for Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford but he is not on the club's list of targets. As for goalkeeper Trafford, the Magpies have got the green light to press ahead and finally get a deal over the line. Christian Norgaard to Arsenal LATEST | Transfers Exposed Burnley announced the £4.3m arrival of German U20 international Max Weiss from Karlsruher on Wednesday, paving the way for Trafford to leave. The 22-year-old was set to move to Tyneside last summer. But that scuppered when Nottingham Forest insisted on Greek goalie Odysseas Vlachodimos going to Newcastle as part of the PSR-pleasing transfer that also saw Elliot Anderson head to the City Ground. Burnley have been quoting a £40m asking price for the 22-year-old, though SunSport understands Toon chiefs are confident a £30m agreement will get it over the line. 4

Newcastle frustrated as bids totalling £75m for Pedro and Trafford fail

Newcastle United have had two bids that total £75million turned down for James Trafford and João Pedro. The Times understands an offer of £25million was made by Newcastle to Burnley at the weekend for Trafford, the 22-year-old goalkeeper, and a bid of £50million was made to Brighton & Hove Albion at the start of the week for the forward Pedro. Newcastle have also had a bid of £45million turned down by Nottingham Forest for the Sweden winger Anthony Elanga. Burnley insisted that their valuation of more than £30million remains and are awaiting another approach. The newly promoted Premier League club signed the Germany Under-21 goalkeeper Max Weiss for £4.3million on Wednesday. Newcastle have pursued the former England Under-21 goalkeeper Trafford for more than 12 months and almost signed him last summer, before Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) stopped the deal. It is thought that Newcastle will return with another bid for a player who kept 29 clean sheets in the Championship this season and is Newcastle's No1 target during this window. There is still some way to go to agree a fee for a player who has been tipped to be England's next long-term goalkeeper and is keen on a move to St James' Park. Newcastle and their head coach Eddie Howe are also keen to add firepower to their squad as they prepare to return to the Champions League next season. That has resulted in the club once more targeting Pedro, whom they failed to land from Watford three years ago, instead signing Alexander Isak. It appeals that Pedro can play as either a striker or a wide forward and a bid of £50million went in at the start of the week. That bid was also turned down by Brighton. It remains to be seen if Newcastle return with an improved offer for the 23-year-old Brazil player, who has three caps. Newcastle have not signed a big name first-team player in three transfer windows because of concerns about being in breach of PSR. Indeed, they had to sell Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton at the end of June last year for a combined total of £70million to fend off a potential ten-point deduction. The forthcoming departures of chief executive Darren Eales and sporting director Paul Mitchell at the end of this month has meant Howe and Andy Howe, the club's assistant head of recruitment, are now leading the club's summer spending plans.
