MPD: Man charged after Facebook Live attack on woman with baby
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man was charged with child endangerment after he was caught on camera attacking a woman while she was holding a baby, police say.
Tranell Gant, 23, was booked in the Shelby County Jail on Wednesday and is also facing a charge of aggravated assault.
The victim told police she was sitting in a vehicle in the 1800 block of McMillan with their six-month-old child on her lap when Gant jumped into the driver's side and tried to strangle her.
The woman said when she tried to fight back, Gant began punching her in the face.
Police said the incident was captured on a Facebook Live and showed Gant enter the vehicle, and the victim fall over backwards as Gant got on top of her to choke her.
It does not appear the baby was hurt during the incident.
Gant is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
