Desh Ek Raag 2.0 pays musical tribute to the nation on Independence Day
According to veteran ITC-SRA Guru and renowned Hindustani vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, 'Over the decades, the institution, with the patronage of ITC, has been training young enthusiasts in various musical forms. Desh Ek Raag 2 pays tribute to the nation through the age-old guru-sishya parampara. The initiative aims to communicate the values and significance of this tradition to a wider digital audience, emphasising its enduring relevance.'
Talking about the experience of working on the project, ITC-SRA guru, sarod exponent and the music director of Desh Ek Raag 2 Abir Hossain said, 'Projects like these remind us the power of music in uniting people and expressing the spirit of our nation. This year, I chose to bring together a completely new team of talented young scholars and faculty members of the institution along with other gurus and artistes. They have lent their unique artistry to the project.
Desh Ek Raag 2 features a formidable line up of artistes, including Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, Pt. Partha Chatterjee, Subhra Guha, Pt. Uday Bhawalkar, Omkar Dadarkar, Brajeswar Mukherjee and Pt. Suresh Talwalkar. The singing is accompanied by Sarwar Hussain on the sarangi, Band Prithibi has given the Indian classical set up a touch of the contemporary with its orchestration.
Desh Ek Raag 2 has been recorded at ITCSRA's state-of-the-art studio by Avee Bhattacharya. The Music Video has been directed by Chandrasish Ray, a budding Indian Filmmaker, and it is presented in collaboration with creative agency Genesis Advertising Pvt Ltd, Kolkata.
Sanjiv Puri, chairman, ITC, which has backed the project, said, 'the company takes great pride in being part of initiatives that foster time-tested values of unity and compassion, while preserving the country's cultural heritage.'
Recorded at ITC-SRA's state-of-the-art studio by Avee Bhattacharya, Desh Ek Raag 2, which has been directed by young filmmaker Chandrasish Ray,also marks the institution's 50-year journey in working towards the cause of art and culture.

Border 2 poster pays homage to iconic Sunny Deol scene from first film. See here
On the occasion of Independence Day, T-Series released a poster of their upcoming film Border 2, which is a sequel to the 1997 JP Dutta directorial Border. The poster features two distinct elements designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia in fans. The first thing that stands out in the poster is a screaming Sunny Deol, missile launcher on his shoulder, charging ahead. This moment is a clear homage to his iconic scene in Border, where he stormed towards the enemy with the same weapon, a sequence that has since achieved cult-classic status. The second element fans will notice is the background track, 'Hindustan Meri Jaan,' a reimagined version of the original song from the first film, performed by Shankar Mahadevan and Sonali Rathod. While the lyrics were originally penned by Javed Akhtar, the updated composition now carries the credits of Anu Malik and Mithoon. Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh had landed in trouble over his film Sardaarji 3, after casting Pakistani actor Hania Amir at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan were escalating. The move sparked severe backlash from fans, and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) even imposed a ban on Diljit following his announcement that the film would be released internationally. However, after repeated requests from T-Series, the ban was lifted for Border 2, though with the condition that Diljit would not collaborate with them on future projects. Sunny Deol recently gave some valuable insights into the setting of Border 2 and confirmed that it was going to maintain the tone of the original. While talking to Pinkvilla, Sunny reflected on doing Gadar 2 and admitted that staying true to what worked in the past was the secret behind the success of the film. He said, 'The good thing about Gadar 2 is that we stuck to the same genre, the same characters. We didn't try to be too smart about it or modernise the story in any way. Even Border 2 – it's been so long since the first film. But the responsibility is huge because everywhere I go, I meet someone who says that they joined the Army after watching the first Border.' The clip, posted on August 13, shows the woman offering prayers with full devotion.
