During the 2025 Champions League final, something unexpected happened on live TV. UFC superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov kindly declined a handshake from CBS Sports anchor Kate Scott, which was captured after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Inter Milan 5-0.
Khabib's decision was rooted in his Muslim faith, and both his team and Scott also pointed out that his lack of a handshake was different from celebrating with the PSG players after the match.
Khabib Nurmagomedov's respectful refusal sparks debate
In June 2025, the Champions League final took place at the Allianz Arena in Germany and PSG won 5-0 over Inter Milan. As usual, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and host Kate Scott led the coverage of the game on CBS Sports..
After the match, Khabib Nurmagomedov and streamer IShowSpeed joined them on the field.
Khabib happily shook hands with the male hosts but gently declined Scott's handshake, placing his hand on his chest instead. This is because, as a devout Muslim, his faith does not allow touching unrelated women. Scott apologized on air and kept things friendly.
On X, some fans praised Khabib, with one saying, 'Khabib stayed true to his beliefs, respect.'
Others thought he could have greeted Scott better, as one user noted, 'He didn't even look at her at first.' The moment got people talking about faith and respect.
Kate Scott's professionalism shines through
Kate Scott stayed calm and professional despite the awkward moment, winning fans' hearts. She quickly said sorry on air and moved the talk back to PSG's big win, their first Champions League title. Khabib, a huge PSG fan, was thrilled to be there with his friend, UFC fighter Islam Makhachev.
They even took pictures with PSG player Achraf Hakimi and the trophy.

This wasn't the first time Khabib's faith shaped how he acts. In 2020, UFC fighter Cynthia Calvillo said Khabib doesn't train directly with women because of his beliefs, but he still shares tips kindly. Scott's smooth handling of the situation kept the show fun and focused on football.
The Champions League final was a huge night for PSG, but Khabib's moment with Scott got everyone's attention. His faith as a Sunni Muslim guides him to avoid physical contact with women he's not related to, as noted by Muslim cultural sources.

"I think I've done enough": Director Ridley Scott on his return to 'Alien' franchise
Filmmaker Ridley Scott, who is best known for directing the 'Alien', was amazed at how far the franchise came after it was joined by several directors, including James Cameron and David Fincher. Filmmaker Ridley Scott , who is best known for directing the 'Alien', was amazed at how far the franchise came after several directors, including James Cameron and David Fincher, joined it. Despite the enormous success, the director believes that he has done "enough" for the franchise, signalling no potential return to the 'Alien' franchise, reported Variety. In an interview with ScreenRant, as quoted by Variety, the actor said that "I've done enough" when it comes to the "Alien" franchise, which he started 46 years ago. Scott produced last year's well-reviewed 'Alien: Romulus' movie, and is currently serving as an executive producer on Noah Hawley's upcoming FX series 'Alien: Earth.' But it appears Scott's days of directing "Alien" projects are over. As he summed up: "Where it's going now, I think I've done enough, and I just hope it goes further," quoted Variety. While sharing his views on the 'Alien' franchise, the director said there was a time when he thought the series was as good as dead. Scott directed 1979's 'Alien' before handing the franchise to James Cameron for 1986's 'Aliens.' The series then took stumbles with divisive entries from the likes of David Fincher ("Alien 3") and Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("Alien Resurrection"). "I think I felt it was deadened after 4. I think mine was pretty damn good, and I think Jim's was good, and I have to say the rest were not very good. And I thought, 'F***, that's the end of a franchise which should be as important as bloody 'Star Trek' or 'Star Wars,' which I think is phenomenal. At least, I think the first one by George is seminal. It was as seminal as '2001.' To me, it was that important in terms of film language and where you go next," said Ridley Scott as quoted by Variety. After directing 'Alien', the director returned to direct 'Prometheus', which marked his return to the franchise. "A number of years after, I said, 'I'm going to resurrect this,' [and wrote] 'Prometheus' from scratch - a blank sheet of paper. Damon Lindelof and I sat then hammered out 'Prometheus,'" Scott said of reviving the franchise in 2012 after a 15-year hiatus as quoted by Variety. He continued, "It was very present and very welcome. The audience really wanted more. I said, 'It needs to fly.' No one was coming for it, [and] I went once again [and made] 'Alien: Covenant,' and it worked too. Where it's going now, I think I've done enough, and I just hope it goes further," as quoted by Variety. As per the outlet, next up for the 'Alien' franchise is the debut of 'Alien Earth' on August 12 and an undated film sequel to 'Alien: Romulus' that will likely feature the return of director Fede Alvarez . Arun Govil questions modern-day Ramayan adaptations: 'None of the stars today fit to play Lord Ram'
Veteran actor , who immortalised the role of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's classic Ramayan, has weighed in on the current wave of mythological remakes, and he isn't holding back. Speaking to NDTV, the revered actor expressed skepticism about modern interpretations and questioned whether today's stars truly embody the spiritual weight of the character. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'Three-four people have tried recreating it, but they weren't successful,' Govil said. 'I don't think in our lifetime someone should attempt to remake Ramayan.' Govil believes authenticity, not star power, should lead casting choices Though he didn't mention any names, Govil's remarks seem to reflect public sentiment around recent adaptations like Adipurush (2023), which cast Prabhas as Ram but faced intense criticism over its dialogues, visual treatment, and perceived lack of reverence. Despite high expectations and a massive release, the film failed to leave a lasting impact. In a pointed remark on casting, Govil added, 'When it comes to playing Ram, none of the stars we have today fit the part in my opinion. Maybe someone from outside the industry might be more suitable.' Arun Govil's old video resurfaces: Muslim family greets 'Shri Ram' at airport Govil's portrayal of Lord Ram between 1987 and 1988 became a spiritual event in itself, with millions tuning in every Sunday morning on Doordarshan. His performance, soft-spoken demeanor, and commanding presence set a benchmark that many argue remains unmatched even today. The timing of his remarks is noteworthy, coinciding with the second phase of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the in Ayodhya, a monumental spiritual event that reinforces the cultural importance of Ramayan and its characters. Govil's comments also come just as gears up to portray Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious film adaptation of Ramayan.
