Sachin Yadav
NEW DELHI: In the absence of Olympic and world champion
Neeraj Chopra
, promising athlete
Sachin Yadav
will lead India's contingent in the javelin throw competition at the Asian athletics championships, commencing in Gumi, South Korea on May 27.
The event will mark the 25-year-old's first international appearance in a senior meet following his notable performances in domestic competitions. Currently India's second-best javelin thrower after Neeraj, Sachin achieved his personal best of 84.39m at the Uttarakhand National Games this year. His victory at the Federation Cup in Kochi last month, with a throw of 83.86m, secured his spot in the Asian meet.

At the Asian event, Sachin aims to qualify for the World athletics championships to be held in Sep in Japan by achieving the qualification standard of 85.50m.
His preparations for both the Asian meet and the Worlds got disrupted due to the installation of a new synthetic track at the main Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) stadium and the warm-up area, ahead of the World Para athletics championships scheduled for Sept-Oct. The ongoing construction work has compelled the javelin thrower to relocate his training base from JLN to an NCoE facility in Faridabad.
'It's difficult to travel to Faridabad every day for training.

It consumes a lot of time and affects my training badly. I can understand that new tracks are being laid at JLN for the para Worlds. But some alternative arrangements should have been made by authorities for track and field athletes who find it convenient to train at JLN because of the facilities available and also because it's conveniently located,' Sachin said.
'There are some training facilities in Delhi where athletes visiting JLN aren't allowed.
Chhatrasal stadium is too far from my place, so I can't go there and prefer going to Faridabad.'
Discussing his Asian meet prospects, Sachin said his primary goal is achieving his personal best and securing the Worlds qualification.
'I was confident about qualifying for the Worlds from the 'Neeraj Chopra' (NC) Classic event in Bengaluru. I had prepared well for it and was looking to make the most of the home advantage.
Unfortunately, it got postponed. Nonetheless, I will look to achieve the mark in Gumi. It will be my first international competition and I am confident about my chances,' he said.
Hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat, Sachin will compete alongside Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem from Pakistan at the Asian event, but he isn't stressed.
'I will be competing with myself. I never get scared by the presence of big names. I try to do my things and look to throw as far as possible. Arshad is a big name. Definitely, it will be tough (competing against him). I can only say, I'll give my best,' said Sachin.

"Let's help him out with a GoFundMe": Josh Allen's massive $55M salary hit hard by taxes, fans can't stop joking about what's left

NFL star Josh Allen loses big chunk of $55M salary to New York taxes (Getty Images) When Josh Allen signed his jaw-dropping six-year, $330 million contract extension with the Buffalo Bills earlier this year, NFL fans and analysts alike were left awestruck. The record-shattering numbers put Allen right behind Patrick Mahomes in terms of the largest contracts in league history. But amid the celebration and excitement, a more sobering topic quickly surfaced — just how much of that staggering paycheck will Allen actually keep? Spoiler alert: not as much as most people think. Josh Allen's $330M contract extension: The tax reality behind the NFL's mega deal According to a post by the MLFootball X (formerly Twitter) account, over $27 million of Allen's projected $55 million annual salary will be claimed by various tax authorities. These include $20.35 million in federal income tax, $5.9 million in New York State taxes, $1.3 million in federal payroll taxes, and roughly $478,500 in 'jock tax' — a fee professional athletes pay for performing in multiple states. This estimate led to waves of reactions online, from empathetic sighs to humorous jabs. Of course, all jokes aside, it's clear that Uncle Sam has a powerful arm when it comes to grabbing a chunk of NFL paychecks. Still, it's important to note that the tax math is far from an exact science. As with many top-earning athletes, the precise amount Josh Allen will lose to taxes depends on a range of personal financial details — many of which are kept private. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo NerdWallet's tax bracket estimates suggest Allen could pay upwards of $8.4 million to New York State alone, depending on how he files. That already raises questions about the accuracy of the earlier MLFootball figures. Even so, the central idea remains valid: Allen, like most professional athletes playing in high-tax states like New York or California, is facing an uphill battle to retain more than half of his income. It's not a new conversation, either. Similar speculation surfaced in previous years, especially when Allen signed his earlier $258 million extension in 2021. It's a known reality that high-income earners in states with steep tax brackets will fork over a sizable portion of their earnings to the government. Add in the complexities of 'jock tax' — which is only applied to games played within specific states — and the picture becomes even murkier. However, don't feel too sorry for Buffalo's star quarterback. His earnings portfolio isn't limited to just NFL contracts. Allen's endorsement deals, ranging from national brands to regional partnerships, add millions more to his annual income. He's not just surviving; he's thriving — financially, professionally, and personally. And as for the Bills, their ambitions remain as high as ever. Allen will lead the reigning AFC East champions into a marquee showdown against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 of the 2025 season. Scheduled for 'Sunday Night Football,' the game promises a thrilling rematch of last season's nail-biting Divisional Round face-off, where Buffalo escaped with a narrow 27-25 win — thanks, in part, to a dropped two-point conversion attempt by Ravens tight end Mark Andrews in the dying moments. Whether or not Allen pockets all of that $330 million is beside the point now. His leadership, talent, and resilience have cemented his place among the NFL's elite. While taxes may be inevitable, so too is Josh Allen's continued impact on the game — and that's something no dollar figure can fully quantify. Travis Kelce claimed most NFL players use cannabis and explained how they pass drug tests

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce made waves off the field back in 2023 when he spoke candidly about marijuana use in the NFL. In a Vanity Fair interview, the three-time Super Bowl champion estimated that between 50% and 80% of NFL players use cannabis and explained how many manage to pass league drug tests with ease. Travis Kelce said cannabis use is widespread among NFL players In the June 2023 interview, Kelce didn't hold back when asked about marijuana use in the league. 'I'd say about 50 to 80 percent of players [use marijuana],' Kelce said. — _MLFootball (@_MLFootball) While that figure wasn't backed by official data, it reflected what Kelce had observed within NFL circles. His comment added to the ongoing conversations about cannabis use in professional sports especially as policies around testing have shifted in recent years. He explained how players pass drug tests under current NFL rules Kelce also shared how players avoid testing positive for THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana. He noted that the NFL only conducts drug testing during a brief window in training camp. 'If you just stop in the middle of July, you're fine,' he said . 'Guys stop a week before and they still pass because everybody's working out in the heat.' His explanation lined up with the NFL's updated drug policy under the 2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The league eliminated year-round marijuana testing and increased the THC threshold, allowing players to manage usage around the testing window. Kelce's comments echoed past statements from other NFL players Kelce wasn't the first NFL player to speak publicly about high cannabis use. Former tight end Martellus Bennett once estimated that nearly 89% of players used marijuana, while Ricky Williams put the number at around 70%. Although the league doesn't publish specific usage stats, Kelce's estimate was consistent with what several former players have said about cannabis being common in locker rooms. Despite its use, marijuana remains technically banned in the NFL. However, punishments have shifted. Players who test positive no longer face suspensions instead, they may be fined or referred to treatment programs. In recent years, the league has even funded studies into the therapeutic use of cannabinoids for pain management and recovery. Travis Kelce's remarks may not be new, but they continue to resonate as the NFL balances evolving social attitudes with its internal policies. With more players speaking out and the league showing signs of change, cannabis could become less controversial and possibly even accepted in the years ahead. Also read - Where is Deion Sanders? Broncos lock in J.K. Dobbins after comeback year: deal worth $5.25 million (Image via: Getty Images) J.K. Dobbins is officially gearing up for a fresh start in Denver and this time, it's not just a rumor. The NFL has confirmed via its official X account that the former Chargers running back is signing a one-year, $5.25 million deal with the Denver Broncos. After a resilient 2024 campaign, Dobbins' comeback story just found its next chapter in the Mile High City. As per NFL insider, J.K. Dobbins is heading to Denver on a one-year contract In a tweet posted by Pelissero reported that Dobbins is set to join the Broncos after an impressive bounce-back season. The deal worth $5.25 million marks a major opportunity for the 26-year-old to reclaim his place among top-tier backs after years of injury setbacks. While the Broncos haven't officially confirmed the signing yet, Pelissero's tweet is already making waves across the NFL landscape. Dobbins was a Comeback Player of the Year finalist after a huge 2024 After battling through injuries in his early years with the Ravens, Dobbins found new life with the Los Angeles Chargers last season. He played in 13 games, racking up over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and 9 total touchdowns. That performance earned him a spot as a finalist for NFL Comeback Player of the Year, and it looks like the Broncos took notice. If this signing becomes official, Dobbins joins a Denver backfield that's been looking for consistency. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo His combination of speed, vision, and pass-catching ability makes him a great fit in Sean Payton's system especially if the Broncos aim to ease pressure off a young QB room. It also signals that Denver wants to stay competitive in the AFC West, with a back capable of explosive plays and tough yardage. All eyes on Denver as Dobbins eyes a full-circle comeback As that deal is becoming official, the NFL world will be watching closely to see how Dobbins fits into the Broncos' plans. For a player once plagued by injury headlines, this moment feels like redemption and a chance to cement his legacy in a new city. And if he stays healthy? The AFC West better be on high alert.
