Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Peace Mabe, has extended warm congratulations to South Africa's trailblazing amapiano duo, TXC, following their historic win as Best New International Act at the 2025 BET Awards in Los Angeles.
This landmark achievement marks the first time a South African DJ duo has claimed this prestigious global honour, underscoring the genre's rising influence on the world stage.
The BET Awards, remain one of the world's foremost platforms celebrating Black excellence in music, film, and culture.
Speaking from Pretoria, Deputy Minister Mabe described TXC's victory as a moment of national pride and a milestone for South Africa's creative youth.
'TXC's win is a beautiful reminder of the extraordinary talent we have in this country. These young women have worked tirelessly, broken barriers, and proven that South African sound resonates far beyond our borders. Their win is South Africa's win.'
'This moment belongs to every young girl with a dream, and to every artist brave enough to be different. What TXC has achieved is not only personal, it's symbolic. It tells our youth that global stages are within reach.'
Under Mabe's leadership, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has prioritised support for emerging artists, through funding, exposure, and creative development opportunities. TXC's international success, she said, is proof of why sustained investment in the arts matters.

Yet, while celebrating this new chapter, Mabe also called on South Africans to honour the legends who paved the way. Through initiatives like the Van Toeka Af Living Legends Recognition Series, launched in 2023, the Department continues to acknowledge cultural icons who shaped the nation's artistic identity:
'Today we celebrate TXC. But we also remember that today's victories stand on the shoulders of yesterday's pioneers. That's what keeps our culture alive and evolving.'
