Fife Instagram drug dealer who sold behind surgery is sentenced
A 20-year-old who pedalled drugs on Instagram and sold to schoolchildren behind a Fife doctor surgery has been given unpaid work as punishment.
Reiss Leighton, who claimed his dealing stemmed from his own drug debt problems arranged to meet teenagers at Linburn Road Health Centre in Dunfermline.
During one deal, a girl started vomiting and 'felt as though she could not move' after taking a pill.
Leighton was rumbled after school staff found two tablets in a purse belonging to one of the girls.
A search of his home uncovered 'la casa de papel' ecstasy tablets of the same kind, as well as phones containing messages indicative of drug dealing.
Leighton, of Donald Street, Dunfermline – formerly of Peasehill Road, Rosyth – appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for sentencing after earlier pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and ecstasy.
The ecstasy dealing spanned November 26 2023 to February 13 last year and the cocaine dealing was between November 26 and December 30 2023.
His offending took place at Linburn Road Health Centre, Nith Street, an address in Mackie Place and elsewhere.
Defence lawyer Amy Harley explained the first offender told social workers he had been experiencing drug addiction at the time and this led to isolation from his family.
'He fell into issues with drug debt and was unable to pay for living standards, electricity and accommodation.
'He is very ashamed by his actions and aware he is fortunate the consequences were not more serious, particularly in the circumstances of this case.'
Arguing for a non-custodial sentence, the solicitor said Leighton has since engaged with an organisation called Turning Point, mended familial relationships, held down a permanent tenancy and is completely sober.
Sheriff Robert More said such serious offences merited custody but imposed an alternative of 120 hours unpaid work as part of a community payback order.
Prosecutor Duncan MacKenzie told the court previously Leighton had an Instagram account with the name 'Fifesmoke2023' and said on his story he was selling ecstasy.
A 14-year-old messaged Leighton on the app asking when he was getting 'tabs' and an arrangement was made to meet behind Linburn surgery.
This teenager and another 14-year-old bought two ecstasy tablets for £10.
They each took a tablet but one started feeling very unwell.
The fiscal depute said: 'She was dizzy, vomited and felt as though she could not move.'
Both teenagers went to Victoria Hospital for monitoring and discharged the next day with no lasting effect.
Despite the scare, one of the girls continued buying drugs from Leighton, returning once on her won and again with two 15-year-olds.
They were spotted by a girl's father and the school was contacted, leading to the eventual arrest on February 13.
The tablets were found to contain MDMA and were in the shape of a head with the imprint of a moustache on one side and 'la casa de papel' on the reverse.
Similar pills were found in his home, from which was seized MDMA worth £200, cocaine worth £300, more than £540 in cash and several iPhones.
The mobile phones were examined and found to contain numerous messages from Leighton relating to the supply of cocaine and ecstasy.

Violent riots gripped the French capital on Saturday night after Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League win - with horrifying videos and testimony revealing how women were targeted by thuggish football fans. Shocking video has shown how a huge mob attacked a pair of young women, screaming at them, climbing on their car and smashing its windows in as they tried to drive through the city. The terrified women are seen cowering as the hordes of men intimidated them. Video of the onslaught cuts out shortly after a window is smashed in, making it unclear what happened next. Some 500 people were arrested, two people died and almost 200 were injured during the riots, according to France's interior ministry. Shops were vandalised and looted, cars and motorbikes set on fire and people were stabbed during the Paris riots, with violence also seen elsewhere in France. Predominantly male crowds, large parts of which were buzzing off a mixture of alcohol and PSG's win, took over the streets, with women reporting a hostile atmosphere across the city. A Parisian student called Dounia, who went out with friends to celebrate the victory on the banks of the Seine, described how she was sexually and verbally assaulted by visibly drunk PSG supporters. 'A man in his forties approached me, holding a flask of alcohol. I saw him approaching and suddenly I felt his hand grab my buttocks,' the 18-year-old told Le Parisien. She told the outlet that she is still in shock days later. 'It was his reaction when I turned around that was the most telling,' the young woman said. 'He insulted me and pushed me violently, before walking away with his friend.' TikTok creator Lily-Rose described feeling 'scared for my life' as she cycled through the city shortly after the game finished. She described having shards of glass bottles thrown at her and feeling as though she would be knocked off her bike at any moment. 'Luckily, they landed on the bike frame and I wasn't hit,' she sighs in a TikTok video. 'My evening was ruined. It was supposed to be a moment of euphoria and joy, but that didn't take into account this problematic and misogynistic behavior,' she added. 'When you see the way you behave, it's scary, it's terrifying. I'm shaking, I'm traumatized, I thought I was going to die several times.' Other female PSG fans hoping to celebrate their team's success said they were unable to spend any more than fifteen minutes in the crowd before being assaulted. 'Sexually-motivated' teacher told school pupil 'you're mine little duck'
Charlotte Doman, 35, worked as a history teacher at William Edwards School in Essex when she started to contact a pupil outside of school on social media and sent "inappropriate messages", according to a teaching panel A "sexually motivated" teacher who confessed her love to a pupil and told them "you're mine, little duck" has been banned from teaching. Charlotte Doman, 35, worked as a history teacher at William Edwards School in Essex when she started to contact the boy - referred to as Pupil A - outside of school on social media and sent "inappropriate messages", according to a Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) panel. Ms Doman, then 32, sent dozens of messages to Pupil A between April and May 2023. In one, she said: "You're not even legal or an adult or anything. Like, am I taking advantage of you? Some days it feels like you're taking advantage of me lol." She provided her mobile number to the pupil and told him she loved him on Instagram, writing: "YOU have all the control in this relationship" and also said: "Love that you're still ignoring me. I'm gonna go get f***** up". Ms Doman also told Pupil A details about her sexual relationships, the panel found, saying in an Instagram message: "One night I ended up with three different guys". The 34-year-old woman admitted she encouraged Pupil A to drink alcohol and smoke cannabis with her, and said in a statement: "I am unsure why any of this occurred. I certainly don't behave like this myself. I drink alcohol less than once a month and never to excess, and I've never taken drugs." The teacher also sent photographs of herself, including her tattoos. Ms Domain admitted to calling the pupil her "little duck", writing: "You're mine, little duck." She later recognised this was "inappropriate. " The former teacher even confessed her "love" to the student and told them to "get use to it". She wrote: 'I'm going to keep telling you I love you even though you don't like it because you need to know people love you. I don't care if you never love me or say it because love isn't meant to be selfish. It's not how it works. So get used to it.' The teaching panel concluded "the findings of misconduct are serious as they include a teacher engaging in sexually motivated and inappropriate communications with a pupil." The report read: "The panel recognised that there was no prompting or encouragement by Pupil A for Miss Doman to disclose details in respect of her sexual experiences or relationship. The panel did not see any other reason as to why Miss Doman discussed her past sexual experiences, problems in her relationship and a graphic sexual extract from a book other than if it were in pursuit of sexual gratification or in pursuit of a future sexual relationship. The panel therefore determined that Miss Doman's conduct was sexually motivated". A parent of a pupil raised concerns with the school on May 24, 2023, in response to her alleged conduct at the time, prompting them to make a referral to the Local Authority Designated Officer on the same day. After the school commenced an investigation, Ms Doman was suspended from her duties and resigned from her position at the school on June 20, 2023. Simon Bell, Headteacher of William Edwards School, said they were "appalled" by the actions of the former staff member. He confirmed the school took "robust" actions to address the incident. Mr Bell told The Mirror: 'We are appalled and deeply disappointed by the actions of this former staff member, who was immediately suspended and went through a disciplinary process which resulted in her leaving our employment shortly afterwards'. 'The safeguarding of our students is always our top priority, and we took immediate action when concerns were raised, including referrals to a number of external agencies including the Local Authority Safeguarding Team, Essex Police, the Disclosure and Barring Service and the Teacher Regulation Agency.' 'We are reassured that our robust safeguarding processes allowed us to act swiftly to address the concerns and welcome the Teacher Regulation Agency's decision to ban them from teaching in the future.' In a written conclusion published on Wednesday, Marc Cavey, on behalf of the Secretary of State, decided Ms Doman should be banned from teaching indefinitely, subject to a five-year review period.
