Taylor Swift 'risks alienating millions of fans' with sexed up album and new look
Taylor Swift 's racy album artwork risks alienating her colossal fanbase, an expert has said.
The global megastar, 35, today confirmed the release of her latest album following weeks of speculation. The pop star appeared on a podcast with her boyfriend, Super Bowl champ Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason, which over 1.3 million people tuned in for the live event.
But while Taylor is notoriously private and rarely gives interviews, the Bad Blood songstress offered an insight into the record, which will be released in October. Her new record, which she wrote on her Eras Tour and recorded to in Sweden, will feature 12 tracks, including a duet with Sabrina Carpenter.
Speaking about the album, Taylor said: "This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant." It comes after Taylor Swift announces Sabrina Carpenter duet and The Life of a Showgirl release date.
And Taylor looks very different on the album artwork for her new record - a move which could unknowingly be detrimental to her success.
Sharing her expertise on Taylor's racy new artwork, body language expert Judi James says: "Showgirl chic is all about contrived sexiness. Every move, pose, spangle and feather has to be perfectly placed, making it as wholesome as sliced white bread, which makes it the ideal new brand for family stars like Kylie Minogue and now Taylor Swift."
Taylor could be entering a new ear and it seems as though she's ready to drop the 'girl next door' demeanor for a sexier and more confident aura for her new album.
"For Taylor it seems to be her 'coming of age' look after her long period of looking preppy and cute.
But there's no sign of rebellion or even change of personality here: her poses and her outfits seem to provide adequate shocks to keep her relevant but without suggesting for one minute that she's losing her grip on the Swiftie market," Judi says.
"Her poses here mimic glamour model looks but without the raunchiness or flirting. She doesn't look upholstered by fillers or implants but she does look like a woman comfortable in her own body. It has a 'dress-up doll' appeal rather than a look to attract a new group of drooling fans. "
However, Taylor's sexy new look has been well thought out, and it's not just a coincidence. Judi says of her new demeanor: "Like everything else Taylor does, this re-branding looks well thought-out and deliberate rather than change-desperate.
"The look places her up there in the market that includes other icons like Beyonce and Cher but without compromising her teen spirit fans.
"Her facial expressions here lack the sensuality that might alienate her from her fanbase. She's still very much Taylor and her body language doesn't seem to signal any huge lifestyle switch-up.
"The look will clearly work in a large stadium but she'll still look like the woman going home afterwards in her preppy kilts, clutching Travis's hand like America's sweetheart on her first date."

Taylor Swift obliterates Donald Trump and Joe Rogan's podcast ratings... but president could have the last laugh
The most anticipated sports podcast episode in history ended up giving the world's biggest pop star bragging rights over the President of the United States. Wednesday night saw a special release of the 'New Heights' podcast where co-host and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce brought on his pop superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Teasers leading up to the episode revealed that Swift would be unveiling the cover and release date for her highly-anticipated 12th album, 'The Life of a Showgirl'. Swifties flocked in droves to listen to the episode live - breaking the record for the most-watched live-streamed podcast in YouTube 's history at 1.3million viewers. It shattered the previous mark - held by 'The Joe Rogan Experience' when the eponymous host brought on then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. The stream was so popular that Swifties e nded up crashing the YouTube stream at the 1 hour, 44 minute mark. 'Shoutout all the 92%ers and Swifties for actually helping us break the internet,' the New Heights X account said after the stream had concluded. Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles center and co-host, referenced Swift's love of the number 13 by tweeting, '1.3million views is the epitome of numerology.' Not only that, but the New Heights YouTube channel saw a spike in subscriber numbers. The channel began at 2.85million subs before the episode began. At the time of publishing, the subscriber count sits at 2.97million. While it did break the live-viewership record, it still has some ways to go to catch up to the 24-hour viewer count that the Trump episode of Rogan had. In the first 24-hours of that episode, Rogan's channel had 26million views. At the time of publishing, the YouTube video of the New Heights show has 9.5million in the first 14 hours (with 6million views coming in the first five hours). But breaking one record held by Trump is sure to be a feather in Swift's cap after she endorsed Democrat nominee and former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Trump has gone on the offensive against Swift in the past, calling her 'no longer hot' after the endorsement of Harris and mocking her for being booed at Super Bowl LIX. Not only does this two-hour conversation mark a major moment for the show, it also is a perfect full-circle moment for Travis and Taylor. Travis previously mentioned in July 2023 how he'd like to have Swift on the show and how he tried giving her a friendship bracelet at a concert in Kansas City, but that he wasn't able to meet her. Cut to now. Travis and Taylor have been the definitive storyline in the NFL over the last two years, with the sport seeing a massive spike in female audience in that time. On the episode, Swift mentioned how important that July 2023 episode was to their eventual meeting. 'This kind of felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie,' Swift said. 'He was just like standing outside of my window with a boom box just being like, "I want to date you. Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet. Do you want to date me?"' She continued, 'This is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.' Kelce added, 'And I was sitting there at the Eras tour listening to every single one of those songs, like, I know what she wants me to do!' He continued, 'I'm the luckiest man in the world,' while Swift said her man is 'a vibe booster in everyone's life that he's in. He's like a human exclamation point.' Swift's album announcement was the biggest draw for the show - with the 'Cruel Summer' singer confirming the October 3 release for 'The Life of a Showgirl'. She added that there will not be any extra songs on the album - which is being produced by Swedish hitmaker Max Martin and his collaborator Shellback. The pair helped make some of Swift's biggest hits - including 'Style', 'Shake It Off' and 'Blank Space' of her multi-Grammy winning 2014 album '1989'. Unlike previous albums, Swift said there would not be any hidden tracks for 'Showgirl'. However, fans are sure to be entertained - with the tracklist released and revealing that fellow pop star Sabrina Carpenter will feature on the title track.

Chiefs fans fear the worst as Taylor Swift's New Heights episode causes YouTube to crash
After the highly anticipated Taylor Swift episode of Travis Kelce 's 'New Heights' podcast crashed YouTube after nearly two hours of livestreaming, Kansas City Chiefs fans are fearing the worst. The Chiefs' regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers will be exclusively streamed on YouTube on Sept. 5. At it's climax, 1.3million people were concurrently tuned in for New Heights, with an NFL game without competition on opening weekend likely to draw more than 10 times that audience. Missing a second of NFL action would infuriate fans on both sides, and impartial supporters hoping to get a glimpse of two playoff teams from a season ago, with the Chiefs again among this year's Super Bowl favorites. '@YouTube YOU HAD 1 JOB TO DO. 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' one NFL fan said on social media. Daily Mail has reached out to YouTube's press representatives for comment on the website crashing and any possible fixes, without an immediate reply. YouTube has more than 120million daily users, making its website appear ready for that volume, until Wednesday. Outside of traditional cable, a few streaming streaming services have broadcast NFL games without any issues including Peacock, Prime Video, and Netflix. Getting a broadcast to pristine condition did not happen without a few kinks along the way for Netflix, as streams crashed for the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing event last November. YouTube has not spoken publicly about the issue but did hype up Swift's appearance on the show before it occurred. Should Chargers-Chiefs go without a crash, it could prove financially beneficial for YouTube when the NFL's next round of streaming-rights negotiations take place down the line. The Chiefs star welcomed his 14-time Grammy-winning girlfriend on the hit podcast he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce to discuss their relationship and to unveil the cover of her 12th album, 'The Life of a Showgirl', which will be released October 3. Swift briefly broke down in tears as she opened up on her long battle to reclaim her masters. She also lifted the lid on her whirlwind romance with Kelce, her father's recent heart surgery and her epic Eras Tour. And the NFL star quickly went viral after showering his girlfriend in compliments and affection. 'I'm the luckiest man in the world,' Kelce said repeatedly. The couple finished the episode with a kiss, after he was also seen holding and stroking Swift's hand and even kissing her head - much to the anger of some of the 1.3million fans who tuned in for the live stream.

Everything we learned about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce from podcast
Taylor Swift revealed she sent her mother to buy her master recordings, she bakes sourdough and has become an NFL superfan as she offered some intimate insights into her life and relationship with Travis Kelce during an appearance on his podcast. Swift appeared on New Heights, co-hosted by the NFL star and his older brother Jason Kelce, to reveal the title and release date of her new record The Life Of A Showgirl, which will launch on October 3. Advertisement She also revealed details about their romance, as well as her professional and personal life during the interview, which went on for more than two hours. Here is everything we learned: – Kelce wanted to date Swift… but did not actually take any steps to do so The couple famously got together after Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce announced on his podcast two years ago that he wanted to date Swift, after he failed to meet her when she performed at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the Chiefs. Speaking on New Heights, Swift said she considered it to be 'a wild, romantic gesture' but joked he 'didn't do any proper logistical planning' to meet her at the Eras Tour show, such as get in touch with her management. Advertisement Taylor Swift performing on stage during the Eras Tour (Liam McBurney/PA) Instead, she revealed he thought his status on the team would allow him to go backstage to meet her. She said: 'Because he knows the elevator lady, he thought he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room. That's how it works in 1973!' – Swift thinks Kelce is a 'vibe booster' The pop star revealed some of the things she loves about her boyfriend, as she detailed their early meetings. She said: 'I knew he wasn't crazy the first couple of times we talked. He's truly getting to know me in a way that is very natural, very pure, very normal. Advertisement 'The way he could make me laugh so immediately about normal things. Travis is just a vibe booster in everyone's life that he's in. He's like a human exclamation point.' Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (PA) She added she was touched that he so publicly declared his interest in her, saying: 'This felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie and he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox being like, 'I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet'. 'I was like, if this guy isn't crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.' – Swift knew nothing about the NFL but has since become a super-fan Swift revealed she had very little understanding of the NFL until she met Kelce, saying: 'You're so non-judgemental and you were so non-judgemental that I knew nothing about the world that you're in.' Advertisement She added: 'I didn't know what a tight end was.' Swift said she has learned about the NFL since dating Kelce (PA) However, she said she is now a super-fan who celebrates when players are sold to the Chiefs, adding: 'I'm not ready to be an analyst right now, but give me 16 months.' – Swift sent her mother and brother to negotiate the purchase of her masters Swift also discussed her purchase of her master recordings, which followed a long battle to gain control over her music. She explained on the podcast she had never initially owned her music, after signing with Big Machine when she was 15 gave them the rights. Advertisement In 2019, her first six albums were sold to talent manager Scooter Braun, much to her dismay, and were then sold in a deal with Shamrock Capital. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) In a bid to gain control over her catalogue after the sale to Braun, Swift began to re-record the albums as 'Taylor's Version', adding new tracks 'from the vault'. She eventually purchased the masters from the company in May. Discussing how it happened, she said: 'I'm in the business of human emotion, I would rather lead heart first. 'I wanted it because these are my handwritten diary entries from my whole life; these are the songs I wrote about every phase of my life. She added: 'So rather than send lawyers or management in a big crew, I sent my mom and my brother, who I work with, to LA.' She cried as she said: 'They sat down with Shamrock Capital and they told them what this meant for me, they told them the whole story of all the times we've tried to buy it, all the times it's fallen through.' She cried again as she recalled her mother telling her Shamrock had agreed to sell, revealing her mother told her: 'You got your music.' She added: 'I just, like, very dramatically hit the floor, for real. I started bawling my eyes out, just weeping.' She continued: 'This changed my life, I can't believe it still. This will affect the rest of my life. I think about it every day and instead of being an intrusive thought that hurts me, I can't believe this happened, how lucky am I?' – The couple don't pay attention to the public commentary on their relationship Kelce said he has learned 'how to be a pro' about handling public scrutiny of their relationship. He said: 'There's still some wacko theories from the beginning that I was like, oh no, how is she handling this? The last thing I wanted to do was screw this up.' Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards 2024 (Doug Peters/PA) Swift revealed: 'I don't see a lot of things. I've been in the music industry for 20 years. It's pretty hard to hurt my feelings at this point.' She added: 'It's at a point where my name can be in the actual headline and it can still be none of my business.' – Swift has a new interest in baking sourdough bread The singer joked she is 'thinking about bread about 60% of the time now,' as she revealed her latest passion. She said: 'I'd say all my hobbies could be categorised as hobbies you could have had in the 1700s. 'I like to sew, I specialise in children's purses and baby blankets. I love to paint. I love to cook.' She continued: 'I have a different baking obsession every six months. 'Right now, we're very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken up my life.' She has even been baking for Jason Kelce's four daughters with wife Kylie Kelce, adding: 'There's one I've been workshopping for the girls because they love everything rainbow – funfetti sourdough, because they love sprinkles. 'We put sprinkles in everything when we hang out.'
