Tofiq Musayev ready for 'different level' in UFC on ABC 8 debut
Tofiq Musaev enters his UFC on ABC 8 debut with a more decorated resume than most newcomers, but he knows stepping into the octagon is something unto itself.
Musayev (22-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who won the 2019 Rizin FF lightweight grand prix and has beaten the likes of Patricky Freire, Johnny Case and Sidney Outlaw, will test himself against the 155-pound roster in the UFC starting with Saturday's matchup against Myktybek Orolbai (13-2-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at Baku Crystal Hall in Azerbaijan (ABC, ESPN, ESPN+).
"It's a dream of all fighters to be fighting in the UFC," Musayev said through an interpreter at Wednesday's UFC on ABC 8 media day. "It's a different level of course. I feel very lucky that I'm ere. I have fought in different organizations but this is a unique one. I have prepared well and I am going to represent my country with pride. I have prepared specifically for my opponent."
Although Musayev has proven himself to be high level, there's speculation about whether, at 35, he's coming into the shark tank of the UFC's lightweight division too late to rise to the top.
Only time will tell, but he intends to give it his best shot.
"Age is just a number for me," Musayev said. "If anyone thinks otherwise, they shouldn't even be competing in the UFC."
"I'm focused on my opponent and later on I will focus on the next steps. This fight will determine what the next fights will be."

ABC makes big Thunder-Pacers NBA Finals change fans will love
The post ABC makes big Thunder-Pacers NBA Finals change fans will love appeared first on ClutchPoints. NBA fans have had a problem with how the championship series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers has been broadcast. The NBA Finals is always a celebrated event that the league puts a lot of effort into making a grand spectacle, yet this year's Finals on ABC seemed to lose its magic touch, with fans saying it doesn't feel like a championship broadcast. Advertisement That is set to change before Game 5 on Monday night, as ABC will air the starting lineup introductions from Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. This will mark the first time since 2013 that starting introductions will be broadcast. However, in recent years, ABC has shown parts of the NBA Finals pregame introductions, specifically the singing of the national anthem with both teams lined up on their respective baselines. Other fun NBA Finals details that fans have been pleading for the league to bring back include the consistent script Finals logo, as well as the gold outline that ESPN/ABC used to use on their scorebug during the game for the Finals. Of course, the biggest thing fans have noticed is the fact that there are no decals or mention of the NBA Finals on the court outside of the padding wrapped around each basket stanchion. In the past, the league had different decals that were added to the court to make the NBA Finals stand out. Advertisement Most notably, the league used to have the team logo at the center of a giant Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy at midcourt. The NBA has not used these on-court decals in years, and commissioner Adam Silver recently discussed why that is during ESPN's NBA Countdown at the Finals. 'I've seen some of the chatter on social media around on-court decals,' Silver said. 'People don't realize they went away a decade ago… we're back to adding them virtually.' Although this may not be the answer fans were looking for, especially given all the drastic court changes the league makes for the new NBA Cup, Silver was telling the truth about the court graphics being digital for years now. Advertisement While many of the changes fans have been asking for won't be granted, at least ABC is answering part of the call by showing more of the Finals pregame festivities. The Pacers and Thunder will meet in Game 5 of the 2025 NBA Finals on Monday night in Oklahoma City. The winner of this game will take a 3-2 series lead before Game 6 in Indianapolis on Thursday. 76ers rumors: ESPN labels ‘leader in the clubhouse' for No. 3 pick in new mock draft
The post 76ers rumors: ESPN labels 'leader in the clubhouse' for No. 3 pick in new mock draft appeared first on ClutchPoints. With the Philadelphia 76ers having the third overall pick in the NBA Draft, there have been many discussions wondering who will eventually be the selection come June 25. While there seems to be options as the prime candidate for the 76ers, the latest ESPN Mock Draft gives its pick and speaks on the ongoing debate between the two players. Advertisement After Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper, who seem likely to be the first two picks to the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs, though anything can change, it's usually been Ace Bailey getting the nod at three. The narrative has changed with Baylor's VJ Edgecomb, who has reportedly made a 'strong impression in a private workout,' did well in meetings, and is considered to be 'the leader in the clubhouse' as the third pick, per ESPN's Jonathan Givony. 'Edgecombe takes over this spot from Ace Bailey in ESPN's mock draft after a positive visit to Philadelphia, where sources say he made a strong impression in a private workout as well as in meetings with the front office and ownership,' Givony wrote. 'He appears to be 'the leader in the clubhouse' currently, with Bailey losing momentum after refusing to visit, initially unsatisfied with his search for a proven pathway to development. However, Bailey is scheduled to work out in Philadelphia at the end of this week, and we'll see if he's able to sway the tides in his favor.' 76ers looking at VJ Edgecombe out of Baylor Chris Jones-Imagn Images Though there have been some rumblings with the 76ers moving up to the No. 2 pick, the options at No. 3 are no doubt a difficult one, since both are highly talented players. However, Givony reports that the feedback about Bailey was 'not all that positive' coming out of the NBA Combine, leading to the debate with Edgecombe, as has also been reported by ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel and Jake Fischer. Advertisement 'Surrounding the hyper-explosive Edgecombe with prolific 3-point shooters such as Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, Quentin Grimes, and Paul George could add another dimension to the Sixers' offense,' Givony wrote. 'Especially if the team buys into the development of his passing ability long-term.' 'Should Edgecombe not be selected here, most teams expect him to be drafted one pick later by Charlotte at No. 4,' Givony continued. 'But he has also worked out in front of Washington in the predraft process, an indication there might be some trade scenarios in play with the Wizards moving up, potentially as high as No. 3.' It remains to be seen what Philadelphia decides to do at No. 3 on June 25 when the NBA Draft begins, but all in all, the team is looking to improve after finishing with a 24-58 record, which put them 13th in the Eastern Conference.
