Naomi Judd's widower confirms she tried to shoot him after uncovering infidelity
Naomi Judd's widower has confirmed she shot at him when she learned he had cheated on her.
The late country star - who took her own life three years ago at the age of 76 - married Larry Strickland in 1989 after a decade of dating and a new two-part docuseries, 'The Judd Family: Truth Be Told' chronicles their ups and downs, including the shocking incident.
In a voiceover from her 1993 memoir 'Love Can Build a Bridge', Naomi recalled how she and Larry, now 79, were "wildly, madly, passionately in love" but he was never home, and she told how a woman called their Nashville home in the 1980s saying how much she "loved and missed" the gospel singer.
The docuseries saw Larry rewatch a scene from the TV movie based on his late wife's memoir, in which the 'River of Time' singer - who was played by Kathleen York - took a shot at her spouse, who was played by Bruce Greenwood, after learning of his infidelity.
Larry said afterwards: "Well, it really happened. That's all I can say. That's all I'm gonna say. It happened."
Larry previously told of how he was constantly with Naomi in the later years of her life.
He told People magazine: "For the past 13 years or more, I was with her 24/7.
"I never left the house without Naomi knowing where I was going and when I would be back. As far as taking care of myself, I'm not sure that fits my situation. When you have a mate that has a mental illness, you walk that path with them."
He also told of how Naomi's death has "forced" her daughters Wynonna and Ashley to "come together".
He said: "They were forced together.
"We all had to come together around this trauma, this tragic event. And it, of course, opened our eyes about how short life can be and how fleeting.
"Realising that we lost a wife and mother, it forced us to be together, whether we wanted to or not."
Larry - who insisted he was "always" close to his late wife's daughters in some way - revealed he has also grown "closer" to them after his wife's death.
He added: "It just really drove me closer to them because they're what's left of [Naomi].
"We were close, I think, always in the early years and later years, but the fact that Naomi's gone and Wynonna and Ashley are the main part of her that's left, and it's what's still here for me to cling to and have in my life."

Alicia Silverstone didn't expect Clueless return
Alicia Silverstone didn't think she'd ever revisit her Clueless character again. The 48-year-old actress shot to fame playing pampered teenager Cher Horowitz in the 1995 movie and she revealed in April she'd be reprising the role for a TV series sequel, and she admitted it was her appearance as her alter ego in Rakuten's 2023 Super Bowl commercial that made her particularly keen for a return. Asked if she thought she'd ever revisit her character, she told People magazine: "I didn't. And then I did it for the Super Bowl, yeah, and it was so much fun. We did it really at the Super Bowl." But Alicia insisted she could say "nothing" about the reboot or the planned plot. The Baby-Sitters Club actress recalled her and ex-husband Christopher Jarecki's son Bear, now 14, first saw the movie when he was just five years old - and although the youngster "didn't know what was going on", the movie compelled him to kiss his mom more. She recalled: "I remember when my son was five, when he first saw it. "And the only reason I would allow that, because I don't think it's appropriate for 5 year olds, is because it was on that big screen that we saw it at the cemetery. He didn't know what was going on. 'The only thing he took away was the kiss at the end. He started kissing me more. It was so sweet. 'And I think he liked it. And then he's liked it all along. I think he really likes this film.' The Clueless reboot will be written by 'Gossip Girl' creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and Jordan Weiss. The film's original writer/director Amy Heckerling is listed as an executive producer, alongside Alicia. There was a previous attempt to bring 'Clueless' back as a TV show for Peacock back in 2020, but that project never went forward. A previous TV show version of the story launched back in the 1990s, with Rachel Blanchard playing Cher for three seasons between 1996 and 1999. Alicia previously revived Cher back in 2021 when she recreated a scene from the film with her son Bear for a video posted on TikTok. She later enlisted her former co-star Stacey Dash - who played Cher's best friend Dionne - to film another recreated scene for the social media site before sharing a Cher montage last year to mark 27 years since 'Clueless' hit cinemas. Alicia captioned the clip: "27 years ago, a bad b**** was born ... Happy anniversary, Cher! #Clueless #AsIf #90s."

Olivia Munn doesn't want her kids watching cartoons
Olivia Munn won't let her children watch cartoons. The Your Friends and Neighbors actress - who has Malcolm, three, and Mei, eight months, with husband John Mulaney doesn't find animated shows particularly "interesting" and she's not a fan of kids' YouTube favourite Ms. Rachel either. She told People magazine: "I know kids love [Ms. Rachel], but the thing is, if I can't watch it, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy. These kid shows drive me crazy. "Malcolm asked for Blue's Clues [recently], and I don't know who showed him Blue's Clues, but they are on my s*** list now. "I said, 'Hell no. Not in my house.' John got him into the Spider-Man cartoons, which is not interesting to me. "I put on Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Homecoming and was like, 'If you want to watch the real-life ones, then we can watch that.' It might be a little too old for him, but I can't take the cartoons." However, Olivia, 44, made an exception for Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, which she thinks is "great" and she and John, 42, found it helpful for Malcolm to watch the PBS cartoon ahead of the birth of Mei so he could prepare for being a big brother. She said: "Daniel Tiger has a little sister, and we'd tell him, 'There's a baby sister coming.' " After Mei was born, the couple were carefu, not to "change [Malcolm's] world and identity and responsibilities." Olivia explained: "A lot of times people will be like, 'Oh, you're a big brother now. You're not the baby anymore. Now you can help mommy get the diapers.' So, all of a sudden, he has all these responsibilities, and he doesn't just get to be carefree anymore. "Instead, we would say, 'Now we have two babies. There's baby Méi Méi and baby Malcolm.' "He would say, 'Mommy, come over here. Daddy, come over here,' and if we were holding the baby, we would put her down so that he wouldn't feel that all of a sudden now we can't be there for him. "It's not that we were trying to teach him that everything he says goes, but we wanted him to have the transition with her to know that we're still here whenever he needs us. Then, eventually when he'd say, 'Put Méi Méi down,' we'd say, 'No, she wants to see her mommy too.' "He smiles, and he understands." While she is only eight months old, Mei already shows she "loves her brother." Olivia said: "Anywhere he goes, she lights up. He's teaching her how to talk. We have this great video of him telling her to say dada, and she says dada right back. It's amazing and fun for him because he gets instant feedback and gratification from her doing the thing that he's teaching her to do. "I asked if he could teach her mama, but he said no."

Zach Braff quit job after landing Scrubs role
Zach Braff quit his job as soon as he was cast in Scrubs. The 50-year-old actor shot to fame playing Dr. John 'J.D.' Dorian in the medical sitcom - which ran from 2001 to 2010 - and although he was initially only hired for the pilot episode, he was happy to quit his steady work as a waiter because after living "frugally" for so long, he knew he could survive on just that one paycheque. Speaking at the ATX TV Festival, People magazine reports he said: 'I got Scrubs after six auditions. I was driving home and I put the Motorola StarTAC on the passenger seat, my phone rang and it was Bill [Lawrence, creator] and he said 'you got it' and I was so thrilled and my life was going to change. 'Even if it was just the pilot, my life was changed forever because I was living so frugally." Zach called him mom, dad, and the manager of the restaurant to tell them he had secured the job - but he was told he still needed to work that evening. He said: 'The manager said 'I am so happy for you, but you have to work tonight.' And I got hammered, and I was the worst waiter ever. I quit the job, and my Mom said, 'Why did you quit? What if it's just the pilot?' "I had been living so frugally and said, 'Do you know how long I could live off of the money of this pilot?' Like I had it dialled to live off like $12,000 a year, so from the pilot I was like, 'I'm rich!' " Zach recently confirmed he will be returning to the role in a Scrubs reboot, with creator Bill Lawrence previously explaining old faces will be joined by new cast members. He told Deadline: "We've been talking about a lot, and I think the only real reason to do it is a combo. "A: people wanting to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, which is part of any successful reboot. But B: I think that show always worked because you get to see young people dropped into the world of medicine, knowing young people that go there are super idealistic and are doing it because it's a calling. "There's no cliché 'rich doctors playing golf' — that's not what it is anymore. So I think that, no matter what it is, it would be a giant mistake not to do as a combo of those two things."
