Bordeaux-Begles prop Jefferson Poirot has been cited for allegedly grasping Henry Pollock's throat after the final whistle of Saturday's Champions Cup final.
An on-field altercation broke out following Bordeaux's 28-20 victory over Northampton at the Principality Stadium, with Saints rugby director Phil Dowson describing it as 'uncalled for and out of order' and claiming that there had been foul play involved. Tournament organiser EPCR have confirmed that a complaint has been made by the match citing commissioner, Tim Lowry.
The prop will now face a disciplinary hearing by video conference on Thursday.
An EPCR statement read: 'Poirot is alleged to have committed an act contrary to good sportsmanship towards the Northampton Saints number 8, Henry Pollock, shortly after the final whistle in contravention of Law 9.27, in that he is alleged to have grasped the throat of Henry Pollock in a way that was dangerous and had the potential to cause serious harm.'
Speaking after the game, Northampton and England fly-half Fin Smith said: 'They were after him (Pollock). I don't think they liked him.
'I remember they (Bordeaux players) all sort of charged at him and were trying to get hold of him.

'I am surprised if you have just won a European Cup, the first thing you want to do is start a fight with a 20-year-old. I felt that was interesting.'
The British and Irish Lions call-up certainly got under the French club's skin, with fly-half Matthieu Jalibert claiming afterwards that the England back-row had made comments about Bordeaux in the press prior to the match.
'I told him (Pollock) that he didn't know our club,' Jalibert told BBC Sport. 'They said some things in the press which we didn't really appreciate.
'They said that we were a club of mercenaries who are here for the money. I just told him that he doesn't know our history, where we came from and that he must respect all clubs.'
The France fly-half, along with wing Louis Bielle-Biarrey, mocked Pollock's celebrations on the flight back to France on Sunday, just as the French outfit had done in the Principality Stadium dressing rooms after the match on Saturday.
A sign was also held up by the players at their victory parade in Bordeaux on Sunday, once again referring to the 20-year-old.
The other citing from the European finals weekend in Cardiff involves Bath and England back-row Sam Underhill, who had avoided a red card in Friday's Challenge Cup final.
The former Ospreys flanker received a yellow card from Scottish referee Hollie Davidson after a dangerous tackle on Lyon full-back Davit Niniashvili - but he has now been cited for the incident.
Underhill's hearing will be held on Tuesday.

Any suspension could potentially make him a doubt for Bath's Gallagher Premiership play-off run-in - with the club looking to add the league to their Challenge Cup and Premiership Cup crowns.
